  • Training plans are useful guides BUT you also need to use some intuition - on a good day, run further or faster. On a bad day don't beat yourself up if you don't go as far or as fast as you planned... I find planning the activity helpful but use the goals as guidelines - for example "I will run X miles at Y speed" or "I…
  • Cool - I got a pool! Your Acer laptop turns out to be just as bad as the Dell. Maybe you should have opted for a Mac? (not funny but probably true). I wish my dog would learn to clean its own number 2's up.
  • My top 5 things for making running fun (No need to repeat the advice re pregnancy / doctors...) 1) To start with. don't worry about speed or distance - focus on how long you want to be out for... Then use C25K type methods of walking/running so you feel comfortable and can enjoy being outside... which take me to point 2 2)…
  • Your wish is granted - you can stop time and look through other peoples houses.... but you cant start time up again and now the world is just one giant tableau. You will never know the joys of human company again. your pet dog's only use is a foot stall. Worst still, as food is also frozen in time it becomes rock hard and…
  • Coach doesn't bench you because an horrific pelvic injury prevents you from ever playing again, thus you are forced to leave the team forever.... It also hurts when you pee. I wish more people would play this game.
  • You now have 1000 friends - and they all hit 'Like' on every post - and it keeps flashing up on your phone... Do you really want 1000 'likes' for "assthetik bured 10 KCal running for the bus for 1 minute " I wish my phone would work properly!
  • Granted. Its a secret option which you can only access after logging over 100,000 calories of exercise in a day from a registered fitness tracking device. Try laughing after that!!! I wish the summer would come back.
  • This is 90% mind games - so here's something you might try - Your calorie goal per day has a +/- 300 calories, but your goal for the week is fixed. exercise calories can be +/- 1 day from consumption, e.g. if you do 500 cals of exercise on Monday, you can 'save' those calories for Tuesdays pizza... or if you have pizza on…
  • Its normal for the amount you loose to fluctuate each week - in fact, your weight will fluctuate by 2-3 depending on what time of day you weigh in, whether you trained the night before etc. If you are doing the training and calorie counting you say you are you will continue to loose weight in a healthy way
  • It really depends how hard you are working.... to put it in perspective I have burnt up to 500 Cals in 30 minutes working flat out - that is, both fast and on high resistance.... On the other hand a leisurely walk (2.5 mph) will burn about 250 calories an hour, so the equivalent on a cross trainer will be pretty much the…
  • Cats sleep on the bed, dog sleeps on the floor but jumps on the bed for morning snuggles...
  • I wish that I didn't have to drive to new york on saturday. *yawns* - Granted - but squeezing the whole of new york into your living room has caused a lot of mess and their is a possibility that we have achieved critical mass and will soon have a black hole to deal with... I wish I had a million dollars -Granted - its…
  • I wish I could find some motivation today You are suddenly motivated to spend all your money on buying me a brand new Lamborghini I wish I could afford to insure a Lamborghini
  • I wish I had a job I loved!... Granted.... But after a while your genitals get really sore.... I wish I didn't have such a dirty mind...
  • Wish granted. Now everyone sees you as an easy push over. I wish I hadn't eaten that frozen yogurt.
  • Wait... if that's a time machine, can it turn my poop back into my dinner?????
  • You wont be the first couple to have met on line - or even on MFP. Whether it will work out or not depends on what happens after you meet in person.
  • LOL - I say "Moo" to the cows as I go past. (when I'm on my own)
  • All the time... anything from chasing after horses and motor bikes (especially the ones from tron...) through to escaping hordes of screaming fans (They are allowed to catch me when I get home and take a shower). Did I just type that out loud ??? I have one really odd one where I'm 'drawing energy' from surrounding…
  • Yes, it is getting harder! I ran a marathon in Spring and a Half Marathon on Sunday just gone. Sunday was baking hot and it was HARD. I wont say the marathon was easier but you definitely notice how quickly heat drains you. Here's my handy hints: 1) Hydrate. For the distance you're doing. a sip of water every 5 minutes. 2)…
  • Fish. Any fish. In my humble opinion fish is the only food that comes out better on the BBQ than in a regular over or grill.
  • I suspect its about what you eat rather than how much - if the food is the problem at all. Its normal to be tired with a young baby! In general, try grazing on dried fruit and nuts (small amounts every hour or so) rather than increasing meal size.
  • I'm training my Boxer to run with me. As the previous poster said, they shouldn't go out for too long until they are fully grown - I think the recommendation is 5 running / walking minutes per month of age. I am very lucky that we have two fields reserved for (off leash) dog walkers in my area - they are about half a mile…
  • Just two: Brighton Marathon - I don't care about the time but I want to run it all and finish feeling good. Rat race dirty weekend: 20 miles this year instead of last years 13
  • In LA where its legalised.
  • "and this time he's mad"
  • Also - do you eat back your exercise calories? I went through a period of only eating some back and I got tired and worked out less = lose lose! Also - if you're exercising - Carbs and protein within 30 mins of exercising if possible. Suggest recovery shakes for this. Makes a huge difference.
  • I know exactly how you feel - I try to log all the time even having reached my goal (although last few months have been poor for personal reasons - I actually lost weight in that time!). My mindset is to have an acceptable weight fluctuation but to have a 'cap' which acts as a trigger leading to a weight loss setting again…
  • Looks like you have a plan Laura. Good luck!
  • Hi Laura this - Sounds a lot like my life - I travel a lot - often abroad - and so you are constantly eating out. My top tips: 1) Hotel Breakfasts. These are buffets and normally a killer. Think to yourself 'how much would I eat at home' and stick to it - there are normally plenty of healthy options like eggs, porridge or…
