Hi there, did u ever get any replies to this post? Its strange how these cross trainers work. I do half hour and usually it says i burn about 450, but when i enter it into my fitness pal it gives me 305 calories to add to my diet. ? My usual cross trainer has just broken so i have bought a second hand one - which actually looks more up to date than the last one but after half hour on the newer one it said only 75 calories? Crazy and confusing ????

It really depends how hard you are working.... to put it in perspective I have burnt up to 500 Cals in 30 minutes working flat out - that is, both fast and on high resistance....

On the other hand a leisurely walk (2.5 mph) will burn about 250 calories an hour, so the equivalent on a cross trainer will be pretty much the same.

One thing worth checking is if you had to enter your weight and what value you put - the heavier you are the more cals you will be burning so if you got that way out then it will have underestimate.

If in doubt, use a heart rate monitor.
