  • I want to run so bad but I'm just not at that level yet. I still have a long way to go but when I'm able to, I want to run a 5k also, then a 10k, and I especially want to try bike-athons.
  • I don't go to sleep till around 3 am and anything before that I add to the previous day. Like last night I went to sleep at 3:30 am and had a yogurt before bed so I added it to Tuesday's instead of todays. That also will allow you a clean start when you wake up.
  • Unfotunately it's a real fear. I've been diagnosed with a bad case of sleep apnea where I not only stop breathing but the times I do breath the breaths are small shallow breaths. The doctor put me on the machine immediately. My husband had told me before I went to do the study that he would hear me stop breathing then make…
  • This is a myth because I eat my dinner at 10:30 - 11pm every night due to the time I come out of work and I'm dropping weight with with no problem. I also don't go to sleep until around 3am. So it depends what time you go to sleep. Obesity comes from over eating, eating out too often and not getting healthier choices, some…
  • Your diary actually looks pretty good to me. You're eating very close to your allowed calories. It could be that you're underestimating your exercise calories. Let's say, like your P90x workout. If you really did burn 600 calories and you only put 300 down, you're technically not eating 300 of your needed calories. Try…
  • I've just slowed down myself and it sucks. I didn't drop anything this whole week and that's hard when you get used to seeing 2 pounds or more a week. The Biggest Loser is a great motivator but their weekly weight losses leaves many people feeling that it's normal, but it's so not normal. But I do which it was normal.
  • Absolutely you can include that as part of your cardio. Put it under walking either brisk pace or if you're running around faster, for the amount of time you do it. That's a great natural workout. I can understand what the other posters were saying if you didn't include it as active in your calculator. If you're not…
  • My work lunch bag usually consists of 2 packets of instant sugar free oatmeal, 2 packets of splenda to add to my sugarless oatmeal :), I usually have 3 snacks (just in case), one is a special k snack at 100 cals for 2 bars, usually a fiber one bar, and an apple or a banana to add to my oatmeal. Sounds boring sometimes and…
  • I'm going to have to remember that wet comment lol. Thank you all. I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing and stay away from that white bread. It's just not worth the trouble.

  • I didn't mean that she gained weight from not eating enough calories. I meant she needs more calories than what she's eating now to help her body loose the weight. I'm not sure how the weight went on that quickly. And I think you're right about it being the TDEE not the BMR, unless you're sedentary.
  • Everyone's going to tell you this. But you're actually not eating enough. You're working too hard and exercising so much that you actually need more calories to help your body out. Your body is doing so much that it thinks it needs to store any calories you put in just because it thinks it needs to protect itself. Check…
  • I too think it depends on how you cook it. Let's say when I do an omelet, I just spray the pan with like a pam spray which is 0 calories so i don't have to worry about adding any calories to my eggs, so I just count the eggs as the box says, 70 each. I would assume your links would be less calories cause of the fat you…
  • I can see what you're getting at and you make a good point. However, I too had to restrict in the beginning only because it was the beginning and I had severe cravings for those things, and if given the chance I would binge on them. I didn't have a stop button. I've learned to adjust since I started, but it is hard when…

  • lol, my husband does the same thing. "are you sure?" "that doesn't look like a lot of food?" "aren't you still going to be hungry?". I have to scream, "NO, DARN IT!".

  • LOL. I had to laugh cause when I started MFP I told my husband about it. He then decides to buy a 5 gallon container of ice cream the next day. It's only me and him in the house! I was like, you gotta be freaking kidding me, wth is your problem?!!! lol. Needless to say, that icecream is nearly 2 months old, still in the…

  • Congratulations!!! How exciting! I can't wait to see my change in a year too. You are very encouraging.
  • I'm going to give you as simple an example as possible. Let's say you are allowed 1500 calories per day, those are the calories your body needs to function normally or at its peak. You should be eating all those calories. Now if you burn 500 of those calories, those are calories that your body still needs to function which…
  • That's just incredible. You look amazing brother. CONGRATULATIONS!
  • I've gotten the, "I used to be as big as you were". And also in a group of friends eating out, "When I was as big as her...". That was so awkward.
  • I just take smaller portions. Or grab a smaller plate to put your food on. After you eat it, wait 15 minutes for that food to meet the stomach and let you know if it was enough. I think we've been taught that big plates of food are what we need but if you look back to 20+ years ago, portions were different. A kids meal…
  • lol, I know how you feel. I only learned all this a few weeks ago myself. When I started off I was aiming for the least calories intake possible and I was miserable because I was always hungry. After the research I have been doing amazing and I'm never hungry because I'm always eating. You can see how much too on my diary.…
  • The reason to eat back those calories is to keep fueling the body. Basically lets say you had 1500 calories and you burned 500, technically that brings you down to 1000, minus the 500 your body needed. It's basically replacing those calories you burned away. The amount of calories you need per day cover the amount your…
  • I got confused with all those percentages you were saying. I think though that it sounds good as long you eat those calories cleanly (lean proteins especially turkey based or chicken and good fats) that you're allowed and you eat those exercise calories back, at least half back if not all. I'm allowed 1800 calories for my…
  • I like to do that too. I weigh myself every few days but don't always record when let's say I see a drop in weight, until I see that same drop the next day. Only because it could be the body acting all weird.
  • Your weight will always go up after your period because you retain water. That'll go back down when you're done. Also watch your sodium levels, that'll make you retain water too. It's just water weight through so don't panic. For that reason I weigh myself every 2 to 3 days, especially if I had loads of sodium one day. I…
  • Lol, That cracked me up
  • LOL, My friends husband just told me that. I started laughing and said, you're not serious right? Lol. What you think, they magically disappear? Lol
  • Yeah maybe the body can burn it the same way, but that doesn't mean that those foods are healthier for you. It's more than just being able to eat anything as long as you exercise, it's also about providing the body the right nutrients so that it can run better and longer. I'm not anti-hamburger or yummy foods but for me…
  • Sounds good however, men lose weight much faster then women because of your muscle to fat ratio unlike women who hold more fat than muscle. So some of the foods you mentioned would be something our bodies would store in turn taking us longer to burn.
  • It's not so hard to increase your calories if you just eat the natural things. Let's say like eggs, use regular eggs instead of substitutes, drink regular whole milk, regular cheese, regular cottage cheese and so on. All those fats are really good for your body. Big difference between that kind of fat than the fat in pizza…
