Reading all the comments this one certainly resonates with me. I would add that not only do I enjoy the healthier food, but I love to exercise. Who knew losing weight would get me to like the way I eat and move.

First congratulations! My advice is to keep tracking your food and gradually increase the calories you are eating and see how your weight goes. And don't stop exercising!
-
Happy for you! And 9 years is an awesome accomplishment. Kudos to you for getting this nipped in the bud. From experience I know that tracking works and have no intention of stopping.

Fantastic! Keep up the good work!

Yay for you! Getting started is half (or almost all) the battle. Taking it slow IMO is the way to go and you'll get the tools here that can help you.

Everything in moderation works for me...although nicotine is really something that we can all do without.

Staying on track - weight at 143 which is right in my range. Successes this week: getting my exercise in and going to yoga Challenges: dealing with the heat!

I've found the same thing the last few summers! For some reason my weight ticks up a bit in the summer then heads down in the winter. Partly I guess because we are in FL for part of the winter and I walk ALOT more.

also a Spark fan although I've been on MFP since 2013. We're all finding our way knowing Spark is going away in about a month. This summer just gives me more opportunity to get outside and walk and enjoy nature.....of course the hot weather here in NY is making that a challenge!

I don't recommend what keeps me motivated! I had lost about 50 lbs when I had a heart attack Feb. 2013. After that started regular workouts and started eating more of a plant based diet - lost another 30-35 lbs. Now whenever I'm tempted to say "oh well" I remember my why....to keep my heart healthy and never ever have…

Heard a radio program about the dangers of drinking every night....someone resonated and knew that I had to stop or cut down on the alcohol and start eating healthier. That was the trigger and it worked.

I don't eat back my calories regardless and mostly pay attention to the actual calories rather than net calories.

Over the time I was losing weight my diet changed (not on a diet...just changed the way I eat) to focus on more of a plant-based way of eating. Now I eat pretty much the way I have for over 7 years which is pretty healthy for about 80% of my meals/snacks. Except for some health reasons, no food is off limits although many…

It is easy to drift back up and that is one of the reasons why I still log everything. For me, it works.

My initial goal was 162 (5'8" at the time) and I was eating bout 1600 calories but I had really upped my exercise and kept losing. I was eating mostly a plant based diet with some meat, fish & chicken - lots of whole grains, beans, fruit & veggies. Started adding 100 calories or so a day and kept losing. Since my doctor…

Thanks! Actually been on MFP since 2013 and just now getting active on the message boards. Looking forward to "meeting" more fellow maintainers.

One other thing that contributes to my maintenance success was the realization and acceptance when I started that this wasn't a diet that I'd go on and off...this is for life. Sounds simple and trust me it took 61 years to get there!

I don't have all the stats for this challenge but like Brooklyn_Born I weigh myself regularly and look at the trend. Right now I'm staying right in the +/- 3 lbs of my goal weigh too 142 where I've stayed for over 8 years. The extreme heat is making it less attractive to walk outside.

Happy Fourth of July! Got a nice long walk with our dog and plan to head out again & hoping the rain holds off.
-
Welcome back! Look forward to hearing your progress. Even though I've been at or under my goal weight since April 2013 I track every day...seems to work.

How are you feeling about the summer? I am feeling GREAT about the summer. Have had both shots and here in NY most have too so things are open. Still being careful but getting out and about more. Back to the gym is a real plus! What will you do to stay on track and accountable while enjoying the season? The same as I've…

"Why is food, which should be a normal source of fuel and a source of enjoyment, become such a source of trouble for us all? And how do all of you see your relationship with food and wellness now?" I can't answer the first question and wish I could! As to the second, one of the things that helped me lose the weight (85…

Hello! Long time MFP user and Spark. Bummed that they are closing and I'll miss the community. Changed my life in 2011 when I got serious about getting healthy and fit and over time lost about 85 lbs and have kept it off for over 8 years. Still going strong. Looking forward to meeting others and hope my former Sparkers…
