Thanks for the replies about the vitamin supplements . I am just about to join the british thyroid self help group that sends news letters about recommened diet and vitamin supplements and up to date research. As\there are obviously some of us on here from the UK and some from USA it will be good to swap notes.

I am not an expert - but will tell you that on a Uk slimming club - similar to WW - you are allowed to eat fruit/veg /salad and meat(lean and not cooked in fat) without measurement . Other foods are of course restricted - but it does work - with or without excercise. Therefore I do believe it is not all about calories .It…

I have just been told after insisting on a test that I have under active thyroid- about to have further tests next week - then I will be looking for advice and encouragement as well.

At the moment I have been on 1200 and 1400 calories and the…

but I agree she has to get the eating thing under control as a priority - if she thinks the power plate is going to be easy and give fast reults she will be in for a shock. It needs effort like any other form of excercise
-
Have you tried a power plate? Quite a lot of athletes use them. If you do it properly it can give you a good work out. Try doing push ups on one then you will see what I mean.

I went to SW in the uk and lost weight each time - but then put it back on. It was much more flexible than WW - lots of food you did not have to measure at all e.g fruit/veg/ meat ( if you were on original) but then they sarted mixing and changing the diets and you end up buying lots of recipes for the points system- and…

I think you just have to find what is right for you. I did two weeks with 1200 calories and not too much exercise and got stuck. Last week I upped my calories to 1400 and ate about 50% of exercise calories and have lost 2lb. When I used to go to SW we had one man who lost loads who was in a wheelchair and could do no…

Hi I am from Oxford and I am hoping to lose about 40lb I have done SW twice and although it worked for me I put the weight back on and more. hi add me as a friend if you want as I am in the same boat as you - done SW in the past and also want to be able to buy some decent fashionable clothes. just started after christmas
-
Thats realy sad- but make sure you are doing it for yourself as well. From the other perspective my other half has gained an awful lot of weight and although 'I do still love him and would not stray it does sometimes make me feel that he does not love me enough to look after himself - does that make sense?

1)seeing photos of myself this christmas - why when I look in the mirror do I not see what the camera sees? 2) my son got engaged and I dont want to look like a frumpy old woman when he eventually gets married 3)I reaslised that I was using my other halfs weight gain and lack of motivation as an excuse - he will have to…
