  • my weight loss has been very slow - but I have thyroid problems as well- but on a recent visit for blood tests my doctor was quite amazed how my cholesterol and glucose resistance readings were right down. so for that reason mainly I am still sticking to it.
  • I also watched the programme - and for me the message was about allowing your body to rest and prepare on the fasting days and the resulting improvements on glucose ,cholesterol etc and was it IGF?. The message was that it was not about calorie counting as on the non fasting days you could eat what you want. I am just…
  • 20 - crikey thats very high isnt it ? That must couse you lots of problems
  • actually I would just like to say that the low carb comment about the diet I mentioned was not entirely correct. on the green version -wholemeal pasta and potatoes are "free" and protein is measured. and that works as well. It is more sugar and fat that is restricted - but it is definitely not calorie counting. Tbh I am…
  • Thanks for replies. I have actually dropped from 1500 calories then 1400 and then to 1300 - but still have taken over 20 weeks to loose 12lb- tbh most of that was lost before I cam on here. I agree that the exercise calories may be over estimated on here ( thats when i found out my running machine tells me the calories…
  • I hate the whole term "starvation mode" in terms of those in the world who are starving I just find it insulting. However I have two simple questions to ask. If it is purely a case of calories in and out - why is there a well known british slimming club on which you can eat lean meat fruit and veg freely ( so you are bound…
  • I am on 50 levo and my doctor will not increase . Still feel rubbish. Has taken me over 20 weeks to lose 12lb and I find exercise very difficult. Apparently when you have thyroid problems sometimes your blood does not oxygenate when you do exercise. Still on the research trail at the moment do any info gratefully received.
  • Hi add me as a friend as well if you want - I am in the same boat - and struggling at the moment. But not giving up.
  • I know in the uk there are special courses for running with dogs and you can get the hands free leads and Cani x waist belts. At the moment I just power walk with my lurcher x labrador - his walking pace is like a gentle run -as he is quite fast. I get too worried about running on the fields here as I have already fallen…

  • weetabix /skimmed milk and banana warmed in the microwave- sprinkle with cinamon and a teaspoon of honey
  • I have accepted you as a friend and you will find a lot of my other friends have thyroid problems as well. I am not familiar with your medication as I am in the UK. I am back to the doctors next week to check on my levels - but so far have felt no better and today although I managed to excercise I felt rubbish afterwards.…
  • tried it did not like it found it very hard and personally felt quite ill but ok if you have just a little weight to lose say before a holiday I guess IMO
  • At the moment I cant advise as just started my medication. I have been reading lots of books such as stop the tyroid madness ( found that quite negative) and others - plus I am just starting to join some forums in the uk. My medication is only T4 - but yours is both T4 and T3 - which from what I have read is usually more…
  • wow - that is dangerous!
  • does your medication have t3 and t4? I am only on T4 at the moment
  • any idea what the uk equivalent to cool whip free would be? is it like low fat cream in a can?
  • I have only just started medication so am waiting for some change - so far nothing. Feel free to add me as a friend so we can compare notes - or maybe we should start a Thyroid thread where we only weigh in once a fortnght as it takes me that long to lose 1/2lb ( if I am lucky!) (:
  • alleyhays thanks for your tips. I was thinking a smoothie with coconut milk/rasberries/protein powder and some bran or oats might be good for breakfast . I have to think of something I can take to work and have in the morning as I am supposed to eat an hour after takeing thyroid tablet.
  • feel free to add me as a friend as i am just starting hypothyroid treatment. Also interested to see how you get on.
  • did anyone feel worse before they got better on the thyroid tablets? Had a bad day today - feeling very up and down -nauseous and tingly pins and needles in hands
  • She is beautiful. My son was born at 28 weeks and had lots of health problems. I remember well the feeling that i wish I could at least look forward to his 5th birthday just to see he was alright. Well he is 23 now and luckily healthy - time goes so fast. enjoy every moment of your baby and I am sure she will thrive with…
  • some great recipes on here and because I am in the uk I have bought some "cup" measurements so I can try some.
  • that must be really hard for you. My hair has been really dry - but the only place i lost hair was my eyebrows. I have been getting headaches at the back of my neck and feeling hot but no rash.
  • I have suffered from IBS for years and I am now wondering if it was actually down to thyroid. at the moment my most worrying symptom is short term memory problems
  • 95lbs even at your height that seems very low - especially if you are now muscular through excercise.
  • thanks for your posts - I am still getting my head round all this .I think my TSH level was 3.5 which in the Uk was apparently border line for medication. But I have been given tablets which I have been taking for just a few days . They netioned something about an antibody level being high - but as my cholesterol and sugar…
  • do they not treat hashimotos with tablets in the USA ? And how did you find out it was this particular disease rather than under active thyroid?
