I have the Fitbit aria scale. No. It's not worth it. And the numbers are all over the place sometimes. I don't trust it anymore and went back to using my old dumb scale
-
I have literally NEVER heard of anyone trying to use steps to figure out how far they went on a bike. That's a new one
-
Yeah. Seems odd for sure. It's only 10:30 in the morning and it says I've burned total calories 1450. Even though I haven't done a damn thing. Whaaaaat? I don't know about this man. I'm gonna keep the same calorie budget I've always had, just thought this calorie burn was interesting to talk about. I hope people don't…

I have been here awhile. I just brought up this post because I was talking to somebody today about my daily budget and they said "whoa that's way too low! You need more than that!" Basically saying I'm starving myself. So I just wanted to see what you guys thought about it and how much I should be taking in. And yes. I've…

Dude 5'8 230lbs 1500 cals a day Rarely ever exercise aside from some walking and getting my 10,000 steps
-
Up until now I would've said fitbit but I'm getting an apple watch next month and I bet that is gonna do far more things for my fitness than a single use fitbit ever would
-
I'm glad you were able to have enough insight to figure it out. And I see that was your first post. Welcome!

I hear ya on that. At the time I didn't realize it, but I had an eating disorder for years and years. I would starve myself until I lost a pound and then binge eat like crazy. Even all these years later, it's hard to escape that mindset. I thought I was so good at losing weight at that time when in reality, I set myself up…

Getting a car all those years ago definitely contributed to my fatness. Before, i would think "Mcdonalds' sounds good. But i don't wanna take a bus and then transfer and then come back. Thats a long trip. And i'm not gonna walk 3 miles! I'll just get it later". After i got a car "hey. It'll be a 20 minute round trip and i…

I have the Fitbit aria scale and love it. is it worth the expensive price? Ehhhhh. Value is relative. I don't think most people would find a $130 bathroom scale worth it that merely syncs your weights to fitness pal and Fitbit and poops out a useless body fat percentage. I like it because I feel the actual weight itself is…

Exactly my point! I'm not obsessing over the numbers really. I usually only weigh once or twice. Not this many times. But I saw the more I got on the more it changed and I was like "huh? I haven't...done anything different since I stepped on. How can I change that much". It peaked my curiosity. I'll probably just weigh…

How can it fluctuate so much within a matter of a minute or two? I didn't just poop. Or eat a thanksgiving dinner. I just stepped off and back on. Crazy. Scales suck
-
This was all within a couple minutes man. Not like "oh no this day I'm this. And this day I'm that!" When my number fluctuates within a matter of a minute, it's hard to know what to go with us nah I'm sayin

I didn't really mean reward myself so much as use that as kind of a mark to allow yourself for moderation. Some people do a cheat meal once a week but i felt like that was too frequent for me. Every 5 lbs sounded about right.

You're right. I'm looking for someone right now and making an appointment. I guess i'm so used to just sitting with my problems and dealing with them, it seemed easier than going out and fixing them. What i'm doing now clearly isn't working and it's time to change that. I still appreciate the crap out of you guys and love…

I don't think i've ever put that much thought into my life. I've always just known my responsibilities and took care of them. I work full time and i take care of my kid and the bills. I never do anything me-related at all. It's like i do just enough to survive but not enough to really change the way i'm living my life.…

There's so much truth in this i can't thank you enough for writing it. Life really likes taking swings at us doesn't it? I had my daughter the same age as you and man. You hear so much how hard it is having kids but you don't really understand it til it happens and BOOM! You're left with raising a little human being and…

I totally second this! Amazing read. And no. I don't really have any support. I've tried doing this on my own for a long time and it's worn me out. My coworkers aren't really people you can get close to and my girlfriend sabotages my diet every chance she gets. She's not really concerned with my problems. I've told her how…

I'm about to get all dramatic on you but...i think this article changed my life. Really. Before i wrote all this out (and read your article) i just kept making the same dumb mistake over and over again. It's become a cycle. A very lovely cycle of "hey. I'm doing awesome! I've lost 5 lbs. I'm unstoppable baby!" Then…

Op: you so silly. When you posted pictures I thought as I scrolled down "oh here we go. This must be really bad if she's this upset". Then I get to the last picture and you look pretty much the same as you did in your 20's. Whaaaaat? You crazy person. You look great. Your old fogey mind is playing tricks on you. If you're…

You wouldn't wanf a boyfriend like him anyway.

Lol back atcha!

Lol probably because I went on a little much about how bad I look? Oh man I didn't even realize how bad I talk to myself. Like I said in the post above, it was a bad time for me. Reading all these posts from you guys was totally...not what I expected at all. I only posted the pics in the first place cause I never have…

Not preachy at all! It's exactly what I needed to hear. Especially last night when I posted this. I didn't even realize how super negative I sounded until people started commenting about it and then I went back and re read it and couldn't believe I was telling myself all that. The night I was having at work definitely…

Depends. What's your budget? Do you like technology? Do you mind wearing something all day? When I first got my Fitbit one, it motivated me to get 10,000 steps a day and helped me lose weight. It's so good at what it does no wonder it's turned into a brand name. Now Fitbit has new wrist based trackers that also track your…

I like watching the biggest loser every now and then (even while knowing how horrible the show is behind the scenes) but one of my many complaints about the show is that they focus so much on ridiculous competitions and survival style allienaces than actually teaching about being healthy and living an active lifestyle. So…

lol yes and no. I really feel for these people, but i'm always left in shock at these problems we have these days with obesity. You didn't see people 200 years ago crying their eyes out saying they have "tried everything and can't lose weight. The fat just keeps on coming!" but these days, barring some medical issues,…

I punched in all my info and it said my sedentary TDEE (not doing a damn thing) is 2612. Compared to the 2700 base of the app I use, that's not very far off. The next step up in activity says I burn 2900 cals a day. So that would also go along with what the app is telling me. So I don't know. Numbers are confusing and I…

Did you see the last Hawks game where they were losing big time until late in the 3rd quarter and picked up the game and beat the other team with only 3 minutes left in 4th?! That was freaking insaneeeeeee. My neighbors could probably hear me screaming!! Hawks going back to the super bowl babyyyy

Not the response I was hoping for but since you're a Seahawks fan, I'll give you a pass
