I took antidepressants for about two years (Wellbutrin mostly). I stayed about the same weight the entire time.

I keep hearing about Ezekiel brand bread which is supposed to be good. If you are worried about added sugar and can't find a good brand try making your own bread. It's not hard and it's healthier.

I totally agree about the hobo meals! I can't go camping without doing this once... usually I douse the entire packet of healthy meat and veggies in ketchup, but I suppose that's not so healthy anymore. :/ Maybe just some hot sauce.

I also aim for three days a week. I've lost weight slower than I would wish, but it's coming off. And I know that after I lose I might not be motivated to go any more than three days a week anyways. Sometimes I do more than three, sometimes it's less. I don't beat myself up about it though.

I think eating real sugar as opposed to chemical "sugar" is much better for you. There are a lot of studies relating artificials (even splenda, though truvia is in the clear as of now) to cancers. But of course everything causes cancer... honestly though I think sugar tastes better than chemical sweeteners.

I don't use it for weight loss but I know cinnamon (and other spices) are antioxidants. They're good for your brain and heart and overall health. Never heard anything about weight loss, though. Sounds interesting.

Any hummus recipe is healthy!

Dried beans-- cook yourself Grains-- oats, barley, etc. lentils-- so CHEAP!! and they last forever and can be tasty! Frozen veggies or seasonal veggies I read something the other day where even if eating healthier is more expensive it's not as expensive as having a heart attack or a stroke or dying.

Thanks for the feedback! (late response) I realize spot reducing is impossible, but I know that when I use a rower I do feel it in my arms. I was just wondering if I would actually get a good all over workout from it. I guess if I HAVE to lift weights I'll suck it up and do it... :( Lol I'll just have to keep looking at…

I read somewhere that a lot of people with IBS don't chew enough. I can testify that I do not chew as much as I should (which results in problems later). So I try to chew a lot better now especially raw veggies. Our body has a hard enough time digesting raw veggies already, not chewing doesn't help.

Some days my motivation decides for me... so both. Sometimes I realize that I'm being a whimp on whatever machine it is and then rev it up a bit. I want to burn as many calories as I can!

I think (generally) cooked veggies have the same amount of calories than cooked. So when you're using cooked spinach you've shrunk it down way more than if it were fresh. So 1 cup of cooked is more calories than 1 cup fresh because there is more spinach in there. And your question... when you're logging "cooked spinach"…

It's an evolutionary response to eat, eat, eat, even when you're not hungry. Our ancestors never knew when their next meal would be. So that's why we do it. Now how to fight it. Whenever I can't stop eating I chew lots of gum, grab crunchy things like raw vegetables, drink tea with honey... sometimes I just can't fight it…

Heart rate is a good indication of exertion (which is what you want to be doing). Shoot for 150 -170 (maybe 180) for a real work out. This doesn't have to be all the time. A HR of 130-150 is plenty if you're just starting out. Working your heart more (thus increasing heart rate) burns more calories than being at a resting…

I think this is a good idea. I don't have too much trouble buying healthy because I'm not paying my own way, but I like to stay in a budget just for the sake of my parents. Going to college (and living on campus) is a struggle when it comes to food choices because there are so many fast food options all around you (in the…

Mmm.. just fell in love with overnight breakfasts! So much better than cold cereal. I like using half oats, half barley. The barley gives it more texture. As for the sticking what I do is empty the crock after eating and fill it with water past the food line. Let it sit (turned off) for a while (usually until I get home so…

Gonna be annoying and say... there are way more harmless spiders then scary ones. There are only two poisonous spiders in the United States. ONLY TWO! And they're pretty much whimpy and rare. All the other thousands (yeah, I said thousands) of spiders just do their thing and eat mosquitoes and lady beetles and wasps and…

It's all calories. Some people count gum. I don't. Yesterday I ate a TON of cough drops. That was about 100 calories there. It all adds up.

Thanks for your responses! I figured that OTCs were my only chance... unfortuantely they're either too expensive or make me sleepy (even the non-drowsy ones). I'll just push through at a slower pace. I usually workout indoors, but living on a college campus means I walk to class (through the pollen-filled air). *sigh*…

I've found that adding salt to the water helps it not stick later.

I just get Kroger-brand whites. I don't like Egg Beaters (or other "substitutes") because it's just egg whites with colors and other things to make it look like regular eggs. Blech.

I'm glad you posted this. We all have issues with our weight. Skinny, fat, muscular... it's a shame we live in a society where we have to put down other people. It's human nature to focus on the differences, but we can be civilized and learn how to keep our comments to ourselves.

I've heard a lot of people on MFP dicussing plateaus... many people suggest eating more Not going over your daily calories, of course, but eating back your "exercise calories". For instance if you exercise and burn 300 calories you need to eat those calories to STILL lose weight or your body will be in a caloric deficit.…

I think you're screwed, honey. Bones don't grow after a certain age. For females it's around 18-20 years, males it's about 22-23 years. Sorry. Just wear platforms. You'll be okay. Short people are cute, though. i'm short. I use it as an excuse for people to help me get things. :D

Some people can't exercise at night. I can handle it fine. In fact it makes me sleepy. Some people are wide awake after they exercise, and they prefer to exercise in the morning. You may just have to wake up a little earlier and exercise before everyone else wakes up. Or find time Friday-Sunday to workout.

Your own visual perception of yourself is difficult to change... Even people who lose 50+ sometimes can't see it.

Potassium is essential to muscle and brain function. It works in sync with sodium which is also essential (but not so lacking) in our diets. White potatoes have lots of potassium as do bananas. I wouldn't take a supplement because you can easily get your daily potassium from food. Check out wikipedia for a list of foods…
