  • A friend of mine who trains for competition told me that weight loss is about 90% diet and 10% exercise. My experience backs this up.
  • http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/02/health/biggest-loser-weight-loss.html?_r=0 Take a look at this article in the NYTs - It seems quite clear that keeping weight off is a significant battle - not a battle that can't be won, but it is a battle. Most people who are obese or morbidly obese- myself included - struggle to keep…
  • Secrets of Archaeology --- I'm a big ancient history buff & I love Amazon Prime. :-)
  • Feel free to add me. I have a fitbit and when I use it, it is really motivating!
  • Hi - I'm way off schedule, but just found this post. I'll start today!
  • It probably depends on what you like to eat. I tried to remove meat from my life - as I'm not a lover of meat. However, I didn't replace that protein with any low fat protein. I ate nuts and cheese (I'm not a milk drinker). I found without some animal based protein I felt hungrier than before - and I did eat more calories…
  • I don't think there are bad foods... but I think there are foods I must restrict if I am going to ever re-loose this weight. I'm one of those people who can't eat just one when it comes to pastries, candy, chips, etc. They are all empty calories and if I could have enough self control to not eat more than one piece I would…
  • I lost 77 pounds in about 2 years and within a year I've put back on 35 of it. So I'm starting again (and again and again)... Every failure is a step towards success. Let's journey together.
  • First, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FANTASTIC LOSS! Now - oddly enough, I found that chewing gum while running helps tremendously with breathing! I don't recall the reason, but I read this on a beginners running site & it really seems to help. I'm a beginner & just chewing gum has increased the amount of time during my session…
  • Great advice. Skinny jeans look like leggins (IMHO). And 'low rider', (a.k.a. hip huggers) only look good on women with very straight body types... Wear what looks nice on YOU!
  • I'm taking this drug to combat menopause symptoms that had taken over my life! It works great on the symptoms, but I am HUNGRY ALL THE TIME!!!!!! I have gained 4 pounds in about 9 weeks. Also, this medicine messes with my sleep so my energy level is horrible. So... While the menopause symptoms are gone, the weight gain &…
  • "Holy Sh~~ Godmom! There is 1/2 of you now! You look hot!" from my 25 year old god-child - when he saw me after loosing 50 pounds! He is one of my god-children that is 'honest to a FAULT!', SO I knew he was telling the truth.
  • Have you thought about growing your own? You can grow lots of veggies in containers - greens, salad greens, green beans, peas, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, etc.... Good luck!
  • Loosing 1.6 pounds a week is great! Do try to eat less junk food though--- it is loaded with salt and salt will keep you retaining water which may mess with what you are seeing on the scale. Great job!!!!
  • First & MOST IMPORTANT - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! :flowerforyou: What a great accomplishment! Now, to your question... when you think about your ideal weight, I think you should take into consideration your health - for instance do you have diabetes or pre-diabetes? I'm told that weight and this disease are close cousins.…
  • I wanted you to know that I was not having a good few days & today wasn't looking a whole lot better until I happened upon your post! That .gif is hilarious! THANK YOU! I really needed this laugh!
  • Hi- Try walking instead. It is really hard to stay motivated in that type of environment! Plus walking is easier on your joints than all that jumping. Find a walking buddy if you want to exercise with someone. And DON'T compare yourself to those "skinny' people. Everyone in beautiful - you have always been... now, you are…
  • I used to keep them on line in a folder by screen printing them and pasting to WORD documents - but that became way too much hassle. Now, I simply print them out and put them in a book. Some time low tech is best.
  • Anything that makes me laugh out loud! How has the way you view weight changed since beginning MFP?
  • I weigh myself nude every day, with the scale in the same spot & my feet on the same spot on the scale--- if I change a variable, the measurement changes. Neurotic - well yes... but there is a method to my madness... I only go by my scale's weight & ignore everyone else's. And I focus on the change on my scale - the…
  • Hi I'm over 40 - actually over 50! :-) Been dieting for ore than a year. But I've only been on this site a few months. Friend me & we'll encourage one another! Peace, Fern
  • Congratulations! That is wonderful!!!!!! 5 pounds in 2 weeks is a lot of weight to loose!
  • Well, technically, it's last week--- but ... I went to a dance with my fiancé and wore a dress that showed off my curves & I got many, many compliments on my weight loss (50+ pounds before joining this site). For this week, I went to our church picnic yesterday in jeans (in a size that I haven't seen in YEARS! - & they…
  • Hi, Welcome back! I'm relatively new here, after using another application. I really find this helpful... Hope you do too. Friend me & we'll support one another. :-)
  • Counting calories and salt intake daily Weighing myself daily--- then I can see that the potato chips I ate, while only 200 calories, had tons of salt & I'm now retaing water (if the scale goes up) - And then that day I will drink more water to rid my body of the salt. Eating what I want - While I try to stay on the…
  • Hi! Add me as a friend. I'm on a similar journey. I lost 44 pounds since March 2012 & actually 55 from my all time high. But I'm getting married in September and I want to loose at least 25 more before then. Friend me & let's encourage each other!
  • i've been eating less calories than stated - usually because I eat fiber heavy foods. And I have not lost one ounce in about 3 weeks! It is EXTREMELY frustrating! I have lost more than 50 pounds from my all time high and since I started dieting last March, I have lost 40 pounds... But I can't seem to loose more…
  • 50 in April? Sounds like a lot - but I'm in. I've not walked consistently in a very long time so I'll use this to push myself outside!
