at this point I'd just put it in the past and start fresh. Typically if I had one bad day I would compensate by doing the 5/2 diet and take two days of the week and only eat 500-600 calories. I don't know what your daily calorie allotment is but you may not have room to correct it.

Stop envisioning a giant blob of fat and instead imagine it as a fluid. Imagine if you melted off 5 lbs of fat across the entire surface of your body...it would be very difficult to notice that 5lbs if it was well spread out. When I started losing weight it took some time before it was measurable because it came off in…

Prove them wrong. Stick with it this time, look and feel awesome, end of story.

Same here, I've lost weight on every diet I've tried but I've never kept it off because I always go back to poor eating habits once I hit my goal weight. This time around I focused on portion control and didn't eliminate anything from my diet. Unfortunately though it still requires making a permanent change if I don't want…

I've not really given anything up specifically so I don't really miss anything. I suppose I just plain miss eating without thinking. Just being able to munch away without the constant calculator going off in my head. But I don't miss the weight! So that is the sacrifice I will always have to make.

The same thing happened to me at the beginning of my diet. I was working out and seemed to be stuck. I stopped exercising and just focused on my eating habits and I started losing weight consistently. Maybe we retain less water when we don't work out? Your guess is as good as mine!

It's a wet cold day today which calls for SOUP! I'll be having the great value tomato soup with my low calorie version of a grilled cheese.

I think you solved your "fat loss" success within your own post when you wrote the words diuretic effect. If you noticed an improvement it was probably caused by that, you didn't lose actual fat.

Saying no to drinking too much is my problem. Every weekend friends get together and ultimately you get the "just one more drink" question. And the more you drink, well the more you want to drink! For this I usually make sure to save plenty of calories during the week so I can drink more than I should :-)

I'm 5'5" too and I started at 183 and had set my goal weight at 140. Once I reached that weight I decided to lose another 10 and now I'm only a couple pounds from that weight and I'm still not satisfied with my body! I believe my final weight will end up around 125. Unfortunately we tend to focus on our worst body part,…

I would normally suggest having your own snacks at hand but I see you already do that. Another little trick I do is chewing gum. I find the minty flavor makes you feel like you just brushed your teeth and it seems to curb the need to eat. Before you go wandering past all the goodies stick a piece of gum in your mouth and…

I'm in my one year anniversary week on MFP and I have to tell you that it hasn't been a year full of motivation and perfection, but a year of eating ups and downs. I took a week or two off during the summer for camping and another 3 weeks off over Christmas (which I really paid for!) I often eat unhealthy and over my…

I'm in my PJ's right now! :-) I think it's yet another routine that you have to get into, just like eating better and logging food. I'm just not quite ready for the exercise routine. I love to relax and enjoy a morning coffee and watch the today show before heading to work. I'm sooo lazy! Lunch hour walks are my thing but…

I drink a couple rum drinks on a Friday and a more than a couple on Saturdays. I used to drink a lot more but now that I'm thinner I don't need to drink nearly as much for the same results!
-
yikes, why would you go and jump on the scale the day after over eating?? You were just begging to get demotivated. A better solution would have been to log everything you ate as accurately as you could and see how far over you may have gone and then spend the next week skimming calories from your daily allotment to make…

Why are you in such a hurry to buy a home. It makes more sense to get your debt load down before buying a home. Remember, even though some mortgages work out to be the same as what you'd be paying in rent, when you factor in the cost of up keep, repairs, taxes, bills etc, it can be very overwhelming. If you want to have a…

I always thought I was big boned and figured the best pant size I would see would be a size 9/10 but now I'm in a size 6 and I can wear a 4...I can even do up a size 2 but I have a muffin top...not the look I'm going for! Don't set limitations on your success based on the past or based on things like bone structure. Once…

Congratulations on your weightloss so far! That's amazing! Unfortunately we don't get to choose where our fat comes off...boy I wish we could! I still have a belly pooch and my lower stomach is the last place I lose. I actually found the first place I lost weight was off my back, which is hard to see! But I loved getting…

I reduce my calories for over a few days afterwards. Sometimes it's easier to reduce your calories by a couple hundred for a few days in a row than skipping meals entirely. I rarely just "move on" because I have a goal to meet and I'm willing to sacrifice some calories afterwards so I can stay on track.

I had Chinese food last weekend and managed to avoid all the battered and deep fried smothered in fat sauce food. There was a group of us so each picked a dish and split it. We started with wonton soup and we split pot stickers (asked for them to be boiled not fried), a spicy shrimp dish, mixed veggie stir fry, and the…

Mine is horrible, but I'm afraid to buy a new one because I think it will weigh me more than my old clunky one. I know that's crazy...but I have such a love hate relationship with weighing in that I never ever step on a scale other than my own and I do that in protest once a week.

I'm fairly lucky, I don't have major mood swings or look for large quantities of food. What I seem to want is a mixture of sweet and salty. I like the 100 cal packs of chocolate covered pretzels. Or sometimes I'll have a 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt followed by a bowl of popcorn. Luckily I don't have anything too bad in the…

Absolutely! I struggle with this all the time. I'm a pound or two from goal, currently sitting around 132lbs and I still grab the wrong size when trying on clothes or I'm completely shocked when something small fits me. And the strangest thing that I experience is when I eat over goal I always feel like all the weight just…

I"m not a breakfast eater so I start my day out with coffee with almond milk Typical lunch: packet of oatmeal packet of splenda small red apple that I slice up and put in the oatmeal key lime yogurt cup of mini carrots sometimes a 5 calorie jello or a 100 calorie chocolate pudding Note: when I get sick of oatmeal I switch…

Hi Mike, Just out of curiosity what seems to trigger your lack of motivation after two weeks?
-
You definitely don't need to follow a "formal" exercise routine as you work so hard during the day. I have a desk job but hate working out so I've added three days a week of walking briskly on my lunch hour for a 1/2 hour. That's it, and I've lost 50lbs this year. And contrary to what some have written, I don't have saggy…

yes, just stay with in your calorie allotment. Weigh and measure everything, no guessing. You'd be surprised how off you can be. Also be aware that there are a lot of inaccuracies in the food data base so take the time to find the correct calorie counts.

Mine isn't a verbal affirmation of my weigh loss, it's the way my husband looks at me. I just feel wonderful knowing he finds my new thin body so sexy!

I'm in the same boat. I'm within a few pounds of goal now and I'm dreading maintenance. I'm so afraid I'll mess it up like I usually do and end up gaining it all back and then some. I plan on leaving my calories the same from Monday to Thursday (1200-1300) because I'm very satisfied with this amount of food during the busy…
