My kids are older (2 and 6) so I either workout when the little one is in nursery and the big one is in school (but that's only 1 day a week) or evenings/weekends when my husband is around. That said, I've only been working out consistently for the past year - before that I just did LOTS of walking with LO in the stroller.…

Love Parkrun! They're free 5k runs organised by volunteers. I believe they started in the UK but they hold them all over the world. In the UK they're usually on Saturdays at 9am. They're not races but you do get an official time and you can track your progress on their website. They're really inclusive and welcome runners,…

Thank you for all your replies. I'm feeling much better now, physically and mentally, and am going to give bootcamp another shot. I've realised that I was being impatient and unrealistic. It's taken me half a year to get where I currently am with my running and, obviously, it's an entirely different discipline to bootcamp…

Thank you - I'll check out Runner's World.

You're absolutely right - I haven't given it a chance, have I? I'm just not used to feeling this sore after a workout! I guess what I'm looking for is some general advice on combining running with strength training for all-over fitness. My running has improved the strength of my legs (well, specific muscles anyway) and my…

I don't log diet coke and sugar-free squash. I very occasionally use a teaspoon of stevia and I don't log that either. On the other hand, I always log herbs and spices, even if they're only a few calories!

I cannot be doing with making separate meals for everyone so I eat the same as my kids, but often I'll have a smallish portion and add extra veggies or a salad. For example, if I make macaroni cheese (which in our house is butter, flour, full-fat milk, cheese and pasta) I'll stir cauliflower into the sauce for my portion…

It does seem like a lot of calories but breastfeeding really burns calories. I ate exactly what I wanted while breastfeeding (which probably amounted to 2,500+ calories a day) and still lost weight, allbeit slowly. It only worked up to a certain point though - I had to put more effort into losing the last 15 pounds or so.

Just realised I lied about my age - I'm 38 still!

I'm 39, 5 ft 4 and currently 147lbs. I'm of medium build and pear-shaped. I went up to 185 lbs in pregnancy so I've come a fair way and am just a smidge over a healthy BMI. I'd like to lose another 10 lbs but am lacking motivation at the moment. I got down to 131lbs after my first pregnancy and that felt great.

Wow, 20,000 steps is amazing! I got my fitbit a couple of weeks ago and my best so far is 15,000. Good week here - lost 1.5 lbs since last Sunday so am now down to 148.75 lbs. Planning to have a bit of a cheat day today (but not go overboard) so fingers crossed I can get right back on it tomorrow - I'm planning a run in…

I'd love to join this challenge please - the August challenge was super-motivational! I've tweaked the dates slightly because I prefer to weigh in on a Saturday morning. Hi there. I'm a bit late in joining the challenge (was away on holiday last week) but I hope that doesn't matter. I did the August challenge last month and that really helped me stay on track. Here are my stats: Height: 5 ft 4 Current weight (September 6th): 150.25 lbs Goal by September 30th: 147 lbs Goal by October 31st:…

Hi there! This is the first thread I've joined so please be gentle! Did mfp with some success before I fell pregnant and now I have an 8-month-old baby and am keen (and ready) to lose the last of my pregnancy pounds. I'm 5ft 4 and around 140 pounds. I can lose around a pound a week eating 1,700 calories a day. I run twice a week for 30 minutes each time and don't eat back those calories.
-
My stats are similar to yours (5 ft 4, currently 131.5 with 5.5 more to go) and I aim for 1,700 a Fay. However I often go over a Fe hundred at the weekend and that doesn't affect my weight loss. It couldn't do any harm to try 1,800+ for a few weeks. You'd still be eating at a deficit - worse case scenario it'd just slow…

Congratulations on your first 5k! Sounds like you enjoyed the experience. My time on my first one was about 35 minutes. My second (a year later) was just under 27 minutes. I shocked myself with that time - don't think I've ever managed to run it that fast since! I've just started running again after a long break (I stopped…
