  • PS just to add that I’ve now weighed roughly the same for a month so it’s not a one week blip
  • WEIGH IN DAY MONDAY: CW: 180.5 lbs PW: 179.8 lbs Beyond furious. Tracked all week. Even yesterday it was my nephew’s 21st he came to ours for a family dinner and I even had a piece of cake (which I weighed and tracked accurately), took me over my calories to 1650, which should still be at maintenance or below. Lifted heavy…
  • Exact same thing is happening to me. I’m really struggling with it. And yes I also feel more energised with my healthy food. I’m also lifting weights and getting stronger in the gym but 12 days I haven’t lost any weight on the scales, in fact I’ve gone up half a pound. I’m eating 1400 calories (I think my maintenance is…
  • Thank you so much that’s really helpful. I think it’s called optimum nutrition whey gold. I usually have it with skimmed milk and a banana whizzed in the nutribullet. That makes sense though that I’m not having it with fat. I’ll do a bit of experimenting I think. Thanks again really appreciate it x
  • @minstrelofsarcasm in your experience of being a personal trainer have you found that protein powder tends to slow weight loss in women at all? I’m using a plain one, no sweeteners or flavours, to hit my macros but I’m quite sensitive to refined carbs (they really slow my weight loss down I think due to blood glucose…
  • WEIGH IN DAY MONDAY PW: 179.8lbs CW: 179.8lbs Super upset. I log EVERYTHING I eat, I’ve yo-yo’d for years but it means I definitely know how to weigh, measure and log accurately when I’m in the zone and I’m in the ZONE right now. I haven’t cheated once all week. Been to gym twice to lift heavy weights, walked, done a yoga…
  • WEIGH IN DAY MONDAY PW: 181.2lbs CW: 179.8lbs Exhausting and slooooooow but pleased I’m below the 180 (just)
  • Dr Stacie Sims on YouTube is brilliant. She did a Ted talk I think called ‘women are not small men’. She explains the impact of women’s hormones on the whole process. She’s an athlete herself but also studied nutrition extensively. She’s done a podcast with Stephen Bartlett that was interesting if you want a summary
  • Thank you, that’s really super helpful I appreciate this so much. And wow 14lbs of muscle!!! Amazing work!
  • Weigh in day Monday PW: 182.5 lbs CW: 181.2 lbs I’m having a really bad day, I know it’s still a loss but I’ve been hitting the gym most days, an hour at a time, lifting heavy weights to build some muscle to increase my metabolism (very out of shape menopausal lump of jelly) and sticking to around 1300-1400 calories,…
  • Thank you @daria0919 that’s really kind, it was such a struggle but I’m hoping it will start to get easier, I’m menopausal and nothing seemed to be working so I finally decided to give weight lifting a go, increased my protein drastically (1.8g per kilo of goal body weight) and counting calories (but at 1400, I normally…
  • WEIGH IN DAY MONDAY PW: 184lbs CW: 182.5lbs
  • Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2025 is the year we reach our goals however big or small x
  • Hi this is my first weigh in day (for me, though it’s my millionth time restarting my weight loss journey arghhh) do I post here today or do we start next next week? Just ignore me if it’s not today ha ha. I’m a bit gutted because I hardly ate anything too bad over Xmas and I started walking a lot more, I did a spin class…
  • MFP USER NAME: fknlardarse YOUR CHOSEN WEIGH-IN DAY: Monday YOUR CURRENT WEIGHT: 185lbs YOUR ORIGINAL STARTING WEIGHT: 173lbs (yes I have yo-yo’d for many years!!!!) PREFERRED TEAM: Any ☺️
  • Yes that happens to me. I started reading about the effects of UPF (ultra processed foods) and I think that’s the reason, they’re designed to make you hungry, less full and therefore eat more of them. Anything with ingredients in that aren’t completely natural I’m trying to avoid.
  • Yes I have gained 28lbs. Gutted. Could not get back in the swing of losing weight till I remembered low carb worked so well for me before so I’m back! Need to learn everything from scratch!!
  • Thank you that’s all really helpful. I don’t know how to check my blood sugar and I’m not diabetic so I’m a bit clueless on what it should be so that’s a really interesting point about not assuming it’s low blood sugar. I only drank water, no broth, last time as I was at work and hadn’t taken anything with me (just for…
  • Jason Fung has some interesting stuff to say about ‘when’ you eat, the effect of insulin etc and that it’s better not to snack all day but I think if it works for you and you enjoy it then it’s all good. And your insulin response will be very low anyway eating lchf.
  • Yeah I think it’s the immediate energy you get from carbs. I had a vomiting bug and all I could face eating for literally days afterwards was beige food: fries, white bread, crisps. I tried going keto but it made me feel sick again. I think I needed food that was really easy to digest?
  • Will do! Thank you. This feels like it makes a lot of sense. Our bodies will be under stress while losing weight. This will give mine a rest before being ready to start again. I definitely won’t go crazy I’m determined to get this last 10lbs off. I find on lchf I’m not craving the usual nasties anyway, it’ll give me a few…
  • Brilliant I love this! Thank you I will definitely do this! Does the weight start coming off again after a break do you think?
  • Hi psuLemon yes I do. Measure weigh and log everything. I have for years but have only recently found lchf.
  • What’s one of these SunnyBunny? Intrigued. I like doing 16:8 sometimes and I’ve done one 24 hour fast.
  • Bumping, is anyone able to help? My resting heart rate is now 75 even after adding a banana and brussels for some potassium. Maybe not enough?
  • Just to add that my blood pressure is normal 104/72 it’s just my heart rate that is increasing. Normally my resting heart rate is 62. Within the last 2 weeks it has gone up to 72.
  • Thank you all for talking to the time to reply and your kind words it is very much appreciated. For anyone with similar issues stumbling across this thread in the future I can definitely recommend YouTube videos by Dr Georgia Ede she is a psychiatrist interested in nutrition and I watched 2 fascinating talks by her today.…
  • Thank you, I’ve been having a google, you’re right there are a few references to Ketosis and depression. I wonder if the same principles apply to LCHF or if it’s not powerful enough? Like for diabetes you need to be in Ketosis really. I found videos by Dr Georgia Ede, a psychiatrist, on low carb down under, Ill watch them…
  • I watched another video after the magic pill https://youtu.be/jXXGxoNFag4
  • Excellent! I’m off work today and fancied something good to watch this will do nicely thank you for sharing 🤗
