  • I'm not a big salad or sandwich person, at least not ones I make myself - love to buy both out ;) For my lunches I do some or all of the following, which are designed to get me healthy foods with a lot of protein and some fat. This kind of lunch keeps me full all afternoon. - hard boiled egg - string cheese - greek yogurt…
  • I would consider whether you could be intolerant to certain foods. I never thought I was bloated - just had a tummy pouch like you ... then i cut out gluten/grains at the suggestion of my doctor, and in a week or less my pants fit differently and I didn't have a muffin top anymore, etc. It wasn't from weight loss, it was…
  • To the OP, please don't let the judgmental replies get to you. I'm w/ Lindsey and a few of the others that believe everyone is different and there are many ways to success. We all have to find what works for us becuase (1) we have different reasons for being overweight, (2) we have different trigger foods and (3) our…
  • I've mixed them w/ coconut milk in the blender - YUM. I like to freeze bananas when I have some that are getting too brown to eat fresh (I don't like them w/ many brown spots - too sweeet). That way, I don't have to throw them out anymore, i just peel, cut and freeze and then they're ready to add to smoothies,…
  • What the others said - definitely water/inflammation in your muscles from working out. I notice that after I have a hard run or other exercise - the day after I'm up on the scale (or at least not down) and then the next day I pee a lot and hte following morning I am down on the scale. So at least for me, it really is water…
  • Lol makepeas - do you still "see" the reminders though? I find that I use post-its or other visual cues to remind myself of things but then after they've been there for a little while I just don't "see" them anymore if it's like a post-it saying "pay bill on tuesday". On the flip side, without other visual cues I forget…
  • Oh and another one: You know all of those "tips" for people to get motivation to work out like "tell yourself you'll buy x if you lose 5 pounds" or "tell yourself no tv unless you're watching while on the treadmill" or "if you eat healthy all week you can splurge on the weekend"? I'm amazed that works for some people.…
  • These posts make me laugh but also kind of make me want to cry because it is just like me! Especially the one about going to water the garden, then to wash the car, then the mail, then the garbage, etc. That is pretty much my daily life and sometimes when I think about it I get sad because then at the end of the day…
  • Hi! I'm a fellow adult ADHD lady. I'll send you a friend request. I'd love to have more adult ADHD friends! I think some of our struggles are different and I"m also interested to have "friends" w/ ADHD since I don't tell most people in my *real* life (i.e. work, most friends, etc.) and my family (other than my brother who…
  • yup, what "inforbacon" said. I am the one you see running and pulling down my shorts or getting a wide step for a sec to let them fall ;) For those interested, what can help w/ the chafing if you don't want to do compression shorts or wear leggins is "Body Glide"! Love that stuff. Can also be used if your arms rub your…
  • Number 1 by far: clipping nails! Makes me cringe and get the heeby jeebies. Ick! 2. boogers on the wall of the bathroom stall - um, seriously? wtf? There is toilet paper in there - use it! ick! 3. pee on the toilet seat - "if you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat..." 4. people that say "but this is…
  • Hm I actually think less carbs. Less sugar and carbs adn more protein and fat. Fat and protein keep you full and keep your blood sugar more stable than carbs do, which means no blood sugar crash, which means no energy crash! At least give it a try for a few days and see if it doesn't help. It works wonders for me.…
  • I started putting a Tbsp of coconut oil in my breakfast shake - yummmmm
  • Do you do dairy at all? I do smoothies in the morning - for example this morning it was: ground flax seeds, kale, rainbow chard, strawberries, whey protein powder and coconut oil. They whey protein is pure whey protein isolate - none of that flavored crap w/ all the additives - not true paleo though as it comes from milk,…
  • That's fantastic! I'm glad to hear encouraging stories as I try to get back on track  I'm going to go find that article on nerd fitness now...
  • Same here - more primal for now as I enjoy my dairy and get a lot of protein that way for now  Might change down the road though. My diary is open to friends and I too like the accountability of having like-minded friends! :drinker:
  • Im not sure how many cals is in the ranch mix packets, but what if you got plain non-fat greek yogurt? 1 cup is 130 cals and you probably eat 1/8 cup or less at a time w/ veggies, right? that's only 16.25 cals from the yogurt plus whatever from the ranch spice mix. Hummus is good but it's 50 cals for 2 Tbsp I think, which…
  • :drinker: Thanks Dragonwolf! I have some of these, but not all and I'm always hungry for more info since I'm new to this
  • haha I know. It's just funny that everyone thinks the way they eat is the "right" way and believe all of the things they hear on the news or in the "health" magazines like "bananas are evil" and "fat makes you fat" and "red meat causes heart disease". :grumble: It's the reason I try not to talk much about food w/ most…
  • I just signed up for one!! This will be my first year doing it and I'm really excited. There are websites that have reviews. Local Harvest is one, so you could see if the farms you are considering are on there. Also they hvae tips on the website of things to consider and things to ask the farms you're considering such as…

  • A tip that works for me - I find a well placed freckle on my arms/legs to make sure I measure the same spot each week - over top of that freckle :) You could use a mole, a birthmark, scar, etc.
  • If it's a small fracture or stress fracture it won't show up right away on an x-ray. You need an MRI. This is what the sports medicene doc told me when I had the same issue (turned out to be just shin splints for me). Have you been to a running store to make sure you're wearing the right shoes? Do you wear the compression…
  • Do you mean cauliflower mashed potatoes? It's not bad. It kind of tastes like cauliflower, but better becuase it's mashed up (I don't care for cooked whole cauliflower - only raw). It doesn't taste like mashed potatoes but doesn't really taste like a pile of veggies either, if that makes sense  You can put different…
  • Feel free to add me. I just joined a month ago but I log every day and offer support! ETA: My diary is open to my friends and I log everything I eat or drink, even the "bad". I think that when you don't log, you're only hurting your own progress. I like to be able to look back at my weeks and be able to notice bad habits,…
  • strange. Maybe do some googling and see what you find. Maybe a torn muscle? I would also consider (but not freak out about) the possibility of some other unknown issue going on w/ inability to properly clot blood (i.e. bleeding like from asprin) or liver problem, etc. Should probably mention it to a doctor.
  • I've known people that were pregnant but I wasn't sure so I would just be like "what's new with you?" And then she'd say "oh, I'm pregnant!" Much better than asking directly
  • Haha love it! I have said something similar to people - it depends on who it is. I've been asked by two random middle aged strangers and I said "nope, just fat. thanks." and gave a b*tchy glare. It shut them up fast and that was that. Hopefully my reaction was enough to prevent them from ever asking anyone else! Another…
  • Guy on our first date "Dairy is what makes everyone fat. If everyone stopped eating dairy, no one would be fat" Me: "um, that's not true. Someone could be fat from eating a whole bag of chips or a whole box of vegan cookies or cupcakes" Him: "no one actually eats the whole thing." :noway: Oh and then when I was…
  • Yes - I love it! It's a great workout. It has a lot of jumping moves, so maybe not ideal if you live in an upstairs apartment, but that's not a prob for me.
  • I love almond-coconut and I am so going to buy some chocolate protein powder just so I can drink this!! ETA: To the OP, I like to drink it as a snack becuase I think it tastes good and slightly sweet - so at 30cals it's a yummy snack :)
