  • Mine synced about an hour ago, but I've done several things since that should have triggered another sync and... nothing. So, not fixed yet. They have posted a notice about in the help section now: http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2340171-fitbit-sync-issues-2-25-16
  • @songbird13291 : Go with the Fitbit estimate. It has way better information about you than the treadmill. For weights, I'm not as sure, but I think that if you log things in the MFP Strength Training section, it won't affect anything. Try it - you can always go back and delete.
  • I see they've acknowledged it on Twitter. I wish they'd acknowledge it on their official help page. I don't want to sign up for yet another social media app that I'll barely use just to find out that they know there's a problem.
  • Actually, you don't need a smart scale to use Trendweight. You've got a Fitbit account (I assume, since you're in this group). You can enter your weight manually either in MFP or Fitbit and Trendweight will pull the data from Fitbit. You can even enter past values into Fitbit to get a complete history if you want (I did,…
  • That's the most frustrating part for me. I haven't had too many problems with syncing (sometimes only some people are affected during an outage) but when I have, the food has generally synced to Fitbit, so I've been able to use its calories remaining instead of MFP. But this time, they're totally disconnected. I wish MFP…
  • To figure it out, more specifics are needed. Which Fitbit do you have? If you have a model with a heart rate monitor, does the heart rate it records during the workout look approximately the same as the Polar? How and where (Fitbit or MFP) are you recording the workout? When you say "daily calories burned total" are you…
  • I just got up and I'm glad people have posted about it. I hadn't noticed yet, but when I checked mine hadn't synced since right after midnight (so almost 6 hours ago). I checked the help page and there isn't any official notice of a problem, so I'm going to report it. For the time being, I'm going to avoid doing a…
  • In both cases, the key is testing how accurate your Fitbit is for you. You want to avoid eating more than you should, but you also want to avoid creating too big a deficit. Trying to lose weight too fast is counter-productive. You'll be less likely to be able to stick with it over the long term and even if you do, you risk…
  • First, with a Flex, make sure your stride length is correct, because if it is off, the calorie burn will be off. The way to figure out if it is accurate for you is to use your Fitbit for a month, while logging your food as accurately as possible (this is very important, and - for me - very hard). Then, at the end of the…
  • @Jaygee13: They should be close at the end of the day. If you've lost a fair amount of weight since you updated your diet/fitness profile in MFP, that can cause a discrepancy. If that isn't the problem, then you might want to check and/or reenter all your settings in both programs, including weight and time zone. (It's…
  • No, not everyone can be a runner, but a lot of us who never thought of ourselves as runners can do it. I'm still a novice but I have been using the C25k program with good success so far (I "finished" it, but wasn't anywhere near to running 5k), on the treadmill. As the weather improves, I'm going to restart at week 1…
  • No, Fitbit can't change your calorie goal and the adjustment MFP does shouldn't show on the "GOAL" number on the left. That shouldn't change unless you update things. I'd check all of my MFP settings if I were you. Including - go to the Apps page, select Steps (in the upper right) and make sure that "Fitbit Tracker" is…
  • The key here, is that you shouldn't try to lose more than 1/2 pound a week for every 25 pounds you have to lose. It is just counter-productive in the long run. So, first thing - set MFP to that. That gets you more than 1200 calories to start the day. Leave MFP at Sedentary, because you truly are sedentary. You don't have a…
  • It partially depends on which Fitbit you have. Some can auto-detect certain types of exercise, most have a button or some other way to put them into exercise mode, but I think the Zip doesn't have that. For a step class, I'd probably either let it automatically detect it (if you have one that does that) and then relabel it…
  • I'd recommend that you read the FAQ found in the stickies. Here's a handy link: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10098937/faq-syncing-logging-food-exercise-calorie-adjustments-activity-levels-accuracy/p1 You're not doing anything hugely wrong by logging exercise in MFP - it is hard to accidentally double-log…
  • Is 2508 really your normal MyFitnessPal Calories Burned number? It should be approximately the calories you start the day with plus your deficit*. If it isn't, then I'm guessing they haven't fixed the "steps source" bug yet. To see if that is the problem, go to the apps page of the website, look for "Steps" in the upper…
  • I'd recommend you read the FAQ found in the stickies. Exercise calories that you log (either manually, or automatically with your Fitbit) are not the same as your "Fitbit Calorie Adjustment" that you see in MFP. Yes, the workout that you manually log gets included in your calories burned in Fitbit (your TDEE). Fitbit just…
  • Everything is an estimate and Fitbit's estimate - based on your steps and your heart rate - is likely to be much more accurate than any other way of estimating the calories burned on your hike. Only time will tell whether your Fitbit is accurate for you. Some people find it is almost exactly right, others find that it…
  • @mathiar86: You're probably out of luck getting warranty service. I bought a couple of Fitbit Ones off eBay and when the battery in one of them died, that was that. Fortunately, I'd given the other one to my sister and she had decided that a Fitbit wasn't for her, so I just got it back from her and used it. It was a…
  • It doesn't really matter - the calorie and step count will be the same either way if you're just using the treadmill. The reason for creating the record is that you can get a "snapshot" of your workout. Then, if you want, you can go back and review it later. Of course, non-step based exercise - weight lifting, swimming,…
  • @Owlfan88 - I don't think relabeling actually changes anything but the label.
  • I don't think the LCD should be tilted under the display. Mine certainly doesn't look tilted and on the rare occasion that I get a call notification (I just don't get a lot of calls), I can read it fine. You may need to contact Fitbit and see if it should be replaced. Battery life... hard to say if it's not working as it…
  • Actually, it may recognize it automagically. I don't know, because I haven't played golf more than a dozen times in my life and the most recent was more than 30 years ago. It will automatically detect some things - walks, runs, "aerobic workouts" (such as Zumba), biking, "sport" and elliptical. I know it does fine…
  • Oh, I never look at much in the mobile app, so I haven't ever seen that number. Like I said, I rely on the graph on my Fitbit profile page if I want to analyze calories in vs. calories out. Now that I've looked at it, I find that if I subtract "Net Average" from "Goal" on that page and then multiply by 7, then I get the…
  • It bugs me, too. Like you, my After Dinner dumps into Anytime, even though the text matches, as does the generic "Snacks" (I haven't renamed that to match any of Fitbit's labels.) But, it doesn't bug me enough to fight with it.
  • @mathiar86: I'd recommend reading the FAQ found in the stickies, if you haven't already. It will answer a number of your questions. For golfing, I think letting your Fitbit handle it is probably the way to go, since it is pretty much just walking, so the step detection and HR measurements should cover it, and not log it…
  • Where are you getting those numbers? I ask because you seem to have contradicted yourself. First, you said "MFP says I eat an average of 1800 calories a day." Then, you say "But MFP tells me my net average daily calories is about 1400." The place I go to look at my calories in vs. calories out is on Fitbit's profile page.…
  • You can let your Charge HR handle the bike workout (as d_thomas02 said), or, if you want to log it manually, you could log it in Fitbit (which would be my choice, if I didn't want to just let my Charge HR's data stand) or, if you really, really want to, you can log it in MFP, but my understanding (and my experience) is…
  • Nope. I never log any exercise in MFP, even if my Fitbit can't track it (yoga, for instance). I only log exercise in Fitbit. The FAQ found in the stickies has this information, and lots more. Here's a handy link:…
  • The active minutes display on your Fitbit dashboard doesn't affect your calorie computation that is sent to MFP to adjust your calories. Active minutes is kind of like the floors count - it is more of a motivational metric than something that affects your calorie burn calculation. Still, if you were active for more than 10…
