heybales is right that the steps it is reading are probably wimpy low calorie steps, but I can understand wanting to get an accurate count. If you want to experiment, try taking your Fitbit off your wrist one day - be sure to turn the HR function to OFF (not Auto) - and putting it in your pocket. The HR function isn't…

The calories that Fitbit says you have remaining for the day and the calories that MFP says you have remaining for the day will never match until the very end of the day (i.e. midnight). They're not calculated the same way. Don't expect them to match. Just follow what MFP says. However, they should be pretty close if you…

I'm a little confused. If Fitbit says you burned 3000 calories in a day and MFP expects you to burn 1500 - based on age, weight, activity level, etc. - then the adjustment you get should be 1500, not 3000. Have you looked at the math that MFP is using (found on the exercise page or in the diary, by drilling down into the…

That'll do it! I have to admit that for holiday dinners I just threw in a big "quick add calorie" entry and hoped it was reasonable. Plus I accepted that I was going to plateau for a while. It sounds like you over-estimated. Good for you.

Why do you think it gave you 7,000 extra steps? 9100 isn't that many for someone with a job that keeps them on their feet. Sedentary is probably not an accurate activity level given your job, but that doesn't matter as much with a Fitbit - as long as you trust it - as a higher activity level will just result in a lower…

Doing it by averages: Daily deficit: 2287-2138 = 149 calories Monthly deficit: 149*31 = 4619 Expected loss: 4619/3500 = 1.32 pounds. Doing it by totals: Deficit: 68594-64144 = 4450 Expected loss: 4450/3500 = 1.27 pounds. Actual loss - more than twice expected. I would say your old Flex was significantly underestimating…

MFP just wants your eyeballs on their site, rather than Fitbit's. You don't have to log exercise in MFP. I never do. I would recommend reading the FAQ in the stickies for more information about this (and many other things). Here's a handy link:…

Nope, sorry. If the accounts are linked, you should get an adjustment. Is your food that you log on MFP showing up on Fitbit? Since I turned off All Day Sync on my Fitbit (to save battery), I sometimes don't show an adjustment first thing in the morning, but it always shows up once I force a Fitbit sync.

Are you asking how to connect your MFP account and your Fitbit account? That's pretty basic. I'd recommend reading the FAQ found in the stickies. Connecting accounts is the first thing answered. Here's a handy link:…

I haven't encountered that. Once I've deleted the extras I think they've always stayed deleted. New ones sometimes showed up, particularly for later meals, but once I'd cleaned up say, lunch, so I only had one lunch summary, it stayed with only one. You might have to take it up with MFP and/or Fitbit. Worst case - go in…

Oh, okay. You're talking about the MFP app, then. Not the Fitbit app. Those 12 calories represent the number of calories MFP thinks you've burned over what MFP expected you to burn so far today. If you touch that adjustment and then touch again (this is the way it works on my Android, anyway), you'll see the math that MFP…

Unless it is only a few minutes past midnight, your Fitbit pretty much has to be showing that you burned more calories than that. Where are you seeing the 12 calorie number?

On occasion I'll get more than one meal summary showing up in Fitbit. I don't know what causes it. What I do is look at the meal in MFP and note the calories. Then I go to the Food Log page in Fitbit and find which of the multiple entries matches the actual meal and delete the others.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend reading the FAQ found in the stickies. It's long, but informative. Here's a handy link: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10098937/faq-syncing-logging-food-exercise-calorie-adjustments-activity-levels-accuracy/p1 The short answer is no, it isn't projecting future activity…

I have a chest strap HRM (not a Polar) that I still use when I run on the treadmill. However, I don't use it because my Charge HR isn't accurate enough. I have other reasons for using it then, that are unrelated to accuracy. When I do use it, the average HR that it comes up with and the average HR that my Fitbit comes up…

I'd follow the instructions on the Fitbit site for resetting your Zip, but that probably won't clear those phantom steps. If it keeps doing it, you might need to contact their customer service.

You want to hit as close as possible to your actual calorie burn (minus a reasonable deficit if you're trying to lose). With a Fitbit, the best thing to do is trust it for a month while logging your food as accurately as possible. You don't have to eat all your calories, but don't leave a huge deficit - that's just…

If you go to the MFP exercise page (website) or diary (phone app), you should find a Fitbit Calorie Adjustment entry. On the website, look for the little 'i' next to the entry and click on it (on the phone app, you touch the entry, then touch again). That will pop up a window or screen showing you exactly how your calorie…

If you're motivated to get your steps in, you gradually find ways to do it. One change I've made in my routine since getting a Fitbit is that I no longer stand in front of the sink while I brush my teeth. I pace around the bathroom, bedroom, hallway, etc. while I brush.

Your One may come back. I did the same thing to mine (although I rescued it part way through the cycle) and it resurrected itself 10 days later. By then, though, my Charge HR had already shipped, so I ended up giving my old One to a friend, who is still using it. (I felt lost for those 10 days that it was dead, though. I…

Your Fitbit doesn't detect steps from your arm swinging. In fact, it has to filter out that motion in order to see the signal of your foot hitting the ground. As FXOjafar said, pushing things like shopping carts or strollers will cause you to miss steps but holding things, putting hands in pockets, even holding a dog…

Well, you may be the only one who also reads the MyFitnessPal Fitbit user's group, but I'm willing to bet there are other Fitbit users in Egypt.

If you read the message posted in the MFP Help section (https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2272192-fitbit-sync-delay-), you'll see that they think the issue has been resolved for most people and that if you're still having trouble, you should contact them (and/or try the standard disconnect/reconnect…

Exercise logged in Fitbit doesn't generate MFP news feed posts, because Fitbit doesn't transfer information about individual workouts to MFP. It only sends total steps and total calories burned. If you really want a post about what you did, make your own - that way you can customize the information in it rather than using…

It doesn't sound like they're completely in sync. You just have to look at the numbers and see what is off. Maybe your meals transferred from MFP to Fitbit but your calorie burn didn't transfer from Fitbit to MFP. How many calories does Fitbit think you've eaten? Is it the same as the number of calories in MFP? Look at the…

You should mostly ignore what MFP says about logging cardio exercise now that you have a Fitbit. They just want your eyeballs on their site, rather than a different site. Yes, if you insist on logging here, rather than in Fitbit, you need the start time and duration so that the MFP calorie estimate can overwrite the…

Have you checked under Steps in the phone app whether Fitbit is the selected device? If not, try that.

That is my guess. It doesn't seem to lag that much vs. the chest strap HRM once it is "warmed up". Not much, really. I suspect it falls into an "intellectual property" issue where they don't want to publish their exact algorithm. Same with how they come up with the resting heart rate. They don't really say how they do it…

That's kind of why I'm not interested in participating in challenges with other people. If I'm only competing with myself, there's no point in cheating by doing things that look like steps but aren't. (Although, I'll admit, I do strive to keep my 7 day step count higher than my son's.) I'm not sure that stride length has…

I still wear my chest strap for some workouts. The average heart rate number that I get at the end of the workout from the two devices (chest strap and Fitbit) is always within one or two BPM of one another and I haven't seen any big discrepancies in the maximum heart rate, either. The biggest difference that I've noticed…
