Mine wasn't working most of the day. I disconnected the apps for a couple of hours this afternoon but still didn't get any adjustment after I reconnected. Just now, though, I remember that I should check that "Fitbit Tracker" was my step source after I'd reconnected and, sure enough, "Don't track steps" was selected. Fixed…

5K to 10K; W3D3 today. Pretty good run, with a better time today. I still can't maintain a running gait all the way up the one hill, but I made it farther today. Plus I walked a bit on the earlier steep section of the run (which I generally run up very, very slowly). I discovered after I set out that I had my shirt on…

I've glanced at them, but I'm not sure. I'll decide once I finish the 10K plan.

I'm not a "success story" as far as speed is concerned. Yet. I did C25K on the treadmill last fall and was really slow and didn't come anywhere close to running 5K as a result. Then, in February, I started working on it again, this time outside using RunDouble so that I could do it by distance. RunDouble keeps all my runs,…

5K to 10K; W3D2 today. I'd planned on doing 2 days between runs but life happened and it looked like today was the better day to do it, so I did. It was really hard today! I actually gave up and walked sooner on the really, really steep section instead of running a little farther up as I'd intended. In general it took an…

For me it is pretty accurate most of the time. However, sometimes it drops out and sometimes I'll get some readings that I think are higher than they should be. So, I wouldn't count on it as a "medical device" but it works well enough for me.

I haven't tried running with it below freezing, but I have found that I can comfortably run in temperatures much lower than I like walking in. That's not too surprising. In general, I try to start my exercise - either run or walk - before it gets above 70. Fortunately, where we live it is a rare night when it doesn't get…

If you're within single digits of your goal weight, 1/2 pound a week is actually the appropriate setting, from what I understand.

It seems so random. I couldn't get an exercise adjustment yesterday (I don't care about seeing steps in MFP - I regard them as completely irrelevant since they don't affect my calorie adjustment), but today it seems to be back to normal.
-
I think that's what I probably should do. If I take the eating level that I am generally happy at and add in the deficit I want to have, I could lower my goal enough to make it still a bit of a stretch but not so hard as it is now.

Mine's been fine until the other day. A disconnect/reconnect fixed it then, but today it's not working. Food and exercise logged in MFP (although I only logged exercise in MFP as an experiment to see if that would fix things) is going to Fitbit, but calories burned are not showing up on MFP. So, I'm falling back on using…

5K to 10K; W3D1 today. Wow did that feel like a long way! I still can't run up that one section, but I'm going to try to run up a little bit further each time. Distance: 5.57 miles in 75:23 for a pace of 13:32. I think for the time being I'm going to be taking 2 days between runs, instead of 1. I'm not in a hurry to finish…

I'd check my settings anyway. Re-enter things like weight, even if it looks right. There was a bug for a while where it seemed to be displaying the right weight, but was counting it as kilograms rather than pounds (or something like that). I thought they'd fixed it, but maybe not.

I know how to reset it, I just don't know what to reset it to. I know that it is based on age, weight, etc., but I don't know the formula they use. I suppose I could create a whole new Fitbit account with my current stats and see what value it sets it to, but I'm reluctant to do that. In the meantime, I continue striving…

Right - calories burned is Fitbit's estimate of your TDEE at the end of the day. The estimate will get lower as your weight decreases, if you maintain the same level of activity. What I'd like to know is how they came up with my Calories Burned Goal when I first signed up for my Fitbit account. That number never changes…

I'm really sensitive to texture and the feel of what I'm wearing. I don't wear jewelry (rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc.) because it tends to drive me nuts and I end up taking it off. So, I was reluctant to get a tracker that is worn on the wrist. So, I started with a One and I loved it. However, I did like the…

That seems like it would be too low for me. I want it to be a bit of a stretch - something that requires me to get at least some exercise every day to meet it. Right now, though, my Fitbit Adjustment in MFP needs to be well over 800 calories every day to meet my Fitbit calories burned goal. That can be hard to get…
-
All I know about the "Calories burned" goal is that it never changes. Mine is the same as it was when I first got my Fitbit, despite the fact that I've lost over 50 pounds since then. As a result it has become increasingly hard to meet that goal every day. Eventually, I'll change it myself I guess, but I don't have a good…

5K to 10K, distance version, W2D3. I was kind of slow, I'm not sure why, but I don't think it matters anyway. It took considerable will power to keep going at times, but I did it. Distance: 5.07 miles in 70:22 for a pace of 13:52.

I don't have an Alta and I'm not having a charging problem, but the first thing Fitbit would advise would be to do a reset on your device. Look on the Fitbit site for how to do that. If the problem continues, then contact Fitbit customer support.

If you go to the exercise tab on the website (or the diary on the mobile app) and there is a "Fitbit Calorie Adjustment" line there, then you can click on the little 'i' next to it (or just touch the line on the mobile app) to see the math that MFP is using to calculate your adjustment and the time when Fitbit and MFP last…

I would trust your Fitbit's estimate over MFP's guess at your calorie burn. That's why you got a Fitbit. MFP's exercise estimates are frequently way off (it gives me double what my Fitbit gives me in some cases). In the case of your walk, the MFP formula doesn't take things like hills into account. That can significantly…

Fitbit has recently added the ability to set a custom max heart rate. If you have a higher than average heart rate (as BarbieA S suggested as a possibility) you can consider raising your max to compensate and keep your Fitbit from thinking you're in an exercise zone when you're not.

I can identify with that. The wonderful part about where I live is gorgeous views and I get to run on a road with virtually no traffic. The penalty is having to run up a mountain.

Today was W2D2 of the RunDouble distance 5K to 10K plan. I did as I'd planned and ran during the second walk break and then walked up the steep hill. I'm not sure when I'm going to get to where I can run up that section. Previously my approach has been to only count a week completed if I can run the whole time or distance…
