  • Hi Darrowland, My name is Melanie, please read my profile and if you like, please add me, I log in regularly and keep my friend pool not to large, so that I can help encourage everyone (not that people with larger friend pools cannot, just that I could not if my friend pool was too large :). Welcome, its a fantastic site…
  • Awesome!! I have an idea how you feel, last summer I went for a ride in a 1934 (something like that) biplane, which if I tried the summer before, I would not have been allowed because I would have been overweight....... and would have missed the fun. I am seriously thinking about a tandem jump next, and good to know that I…
  • Hi rparker, I'm Melanie and 58 y-r-o, would love to have another friend. I also have been overweight pretty much my whole life, but have been changing that over the past year and don't ever plan to go back there, feel free to add me if you like.
  • thanks for posting and thanks to all who answered!
  • I'm the same, I took sodium out of my logging because since I started in March I was always way under and I even add it to my logging as tablesalt added to my meal. But, as above, I eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruit, don't eat anything processed.
  • Hi Nikeena, my name is Melanie, feel free to add me:flowerforyou:
  • Drink your water, maybe try some stretching after your exercise, eat some bananas or kiwi. Hope this helps some!
  • Sounds yummy, thanks for posting!!:flowerforyou:
  • Mine is open, figure it keeps me accountable to myself :) But, don't eat sugar (do eat honey), milk (do eat yogurt and some cheeses), grains, potatoes or corn, am on SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) because I have Crohn's disease (an inflammatory bowel disease) and if I eat any of those I just mentioned that I don't eat,…
  • thank you for posting this, it is a good reminder!! :flowerforyou:

  • Love #5, Sassy!!
  • Good on you!!! Good luck! And please keep this in mind (something someone said to me when I did my first 5K last summer): It doesn't matter the time it took, you STILL RAN 5K!!! just remember to take the day before off from running the race (even two days, maybe just walk if you feel you must, but not on the day before).…
  • What she said above:smile: I did see a post on here where the gentleman lost around 100 lbs, with watching calories and just walking for his exercise! If I remember correctly, he said he walked 1 to 20 hours a day. And his pic was pretty buff! As said above, I don't think you can target any specific place on your body with…
  • hello! I'm a little older than you are, but I am very positive and love joking around if you're up for it, but am very serious about losing weight! Please read my profile and if you like, send friend request. By the way, not that it makes a difference, but your post brought back way far away past, I was divorced when my…
  • Cream of tartar is a stabilizer (as stated by the poster of the recipe), which will help things like meringe or whipped cream stay whipped, the lemon and vinigar are actually levening agents which will leven (is that a proper word?-make it rise with air bubbles:) something that has ?acid in it, in this case the yogurt. If…
  • Thanks so much for the recipe (and this above sounds heavenly!). Unfortunately, I will have to see how it goes without the cream of tartar as I am on the SCDiet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) for Crohn's disease and cream of tartar is a no-no. But will try the vinegar/lemon as suggested or maybe some baking soda or maybe…
  • Welcome! this is the best site for encouragement and friendly help. Been here less than two months and have found it very helpful and as said above, it was a real eye-opener when I logged in the food I was eating for a day!! Feel free to add me:flowerforyou:
  • Yes, no worries, with the running/walking and Zumba, the inches will come off, sometimes even when your weight doesn't seem to be changing! I took my measurements a couple of weeks after I started and then two weeks after that because I was only loosing a few ounces each week, but in two weeks my measurements had changed…
  • Hi Dalycakes, Welcome to MFP, you'll find a lot of encouragement here! All I can suggest as per your request is to not think of this as a "diet"! Change your eating habits to healthy wholesome food and make it sustainable, even if you have to do it gradually. If in the end you find it too restrictive with 1200 calories,…
  • Week # 1 -- April 29th -- Goal 300 minutes: Mon: 74 Tue: 57 Wed: 69 Thur: off Fri: 123 Sat: 43 Sun: 107 Total / min left: 473 / -173 Hmmm, guess I missjudged. Going to up it for next week, but only by a bit because going into major OT at work for the next few months and don't know....…
  • Congrats on your weight loss Adam and congrats on your awakening:). Thats the thing, losing weight and MFP are not about "DIETS" they are about learning how much your body should be taking in foodwise for your's and your body's maximum health and wellbeing. For learning how to do it in a sustainable and healthy way for the…
  • Hi dizzydone, you probably should make a few friends, very good for keeping you motivated with some interaction. Regarding the part of your quote above, don't let that scare you, most long term studies are on exactly that "dieters" and right off the bat, the word diet usually means to most people, restriction and…
  • Haa, haa, ya, that rates up there with a "plumber's crack"
  • Oh lmao!!, guilty of the last three, but the first two are priceless :))))) I also find this post very inspiring, to know I am not the only one to speed up to a faster pace to cross at a stoplight before it changes and be afraid that EVERYONE can see my boobs bouncing up and slapping my triple chins!, but in all honesty,…
  • I love cooking and I have used the one I bought for my son (When I visit on leave), have used it as food processor to grind nuts into flour and for blending smoothies and processing veggies when making spagetti sauce or bbq sauce (faster than a pearing nife and you don't cry cutting onions) and probably a few other ways. I…
  • I suffered for quite a few years, first one foot then both, had special made orthotics....didn't help (some people do find help with these), finally what seemed to get rid of it......loosing weight :) (which is why we are all here anyway) I am now pain free and even running (did my first 5k last summer/pain free). All I…
