Thanks everyone. I haven't lost a whole lot of pounds this past month so I switched to Stronglifts 5x5 and upped my calories to 2000 so I would have less fall off the wagon moments. So far so good, I'm still seeing changes due to the lifting and I feel great!

It's true it's tough, but I've known a lot of women who could do 20+. They had very low bf% and trained hard.

I believe strength. The set up is the same as the squat in stage 1. They introduce HIIT in stage 2 but that is a separate component of the workout.

You've only been tracking for a month so it's hard to say if that 5 lb fluctuation is a fluctuation or a loss. The only advice i can give is that you can always improve the accuracy of your logging (using a food scale and proper measurements with measuring spoons, cups etc..). 5 lbs in a month is a reasonable loss so give…

Weight loss is all about calories in calories out (with a few minor exceptions). I wouldn't give up on the weight training, studies have showed weight training does protect against metabolic syndrome. I agree with what people have been saying about estimating. I agree. You will have enough on your mind working towards your goal. The only thing I would add is I think it's a good idea for you to start a savings fund now. If you need/want the surgery you have the $$. If you don't, go on a vacation or buy yourself something nice :)

Right?! I finished Stage 1 and really enjoyed it. My gym is pretty basic but it had everything I needed. I'm taking a break for the next few weeks but am looking forward to stage 2.

Yeah, I'm pretty tall (5'10 1/2"). My mum is 5'2" and I think she has a hard time seeing her results too (although I see it). It looks like you're doing a fantastic job, keep up the good work!

Hi Steph, I'm a 28 yo SAHmom of a 2 1/2 yo boy. This site, along with the app has been the missing link in my weight loss, I've had so much more success using MFP than with any other strategy. I should also qualify with that this was likely due to overtraining overall, not just push-ups. Basic is just as much about breaking your will to live (haha, just half joking) as fitness training.

Former navy here too, it's true they work the "poop" out if you, but I've known many of my male friends who lost 20-25lbs of LBM during basic. Your muscles definitely need recovery.
