At 68, and after a lifetime of it being that way, I'd guess it's more likely to do with your skin condition as anything muscle work could change. Your profile photo shows you are doing very nicely in the aging department anyway. Any chance the arms are just the only thing you can find wrong with yourself to worry about?

Thankyou, this is really helpful info for me. I have been only logging weight when it goes down from the previous lowest but like this way of looking at daily weigh ins. I'll be interested to see if my rate of Up/Down days is similar to yours. I also found MFP the inspiration to seriously attack the issue. But only 4 weeks…

I try to make a smoothie each day to get more veges into my diet. Maybe you could try adding an extra meal that is easy and quick to get down to yours that way.

There may be good and bad sugar. I don't really know. But I think both types need to be burned off soon after intake or they will turn into equal amounts of fat store.

I'm just about to stop. I've found doing it very helpful and educational, but for the long term there is no way I can fixate on food the way i have to when planning and logging foods daily. My plan is to shop for 2 weeks and only have the right amount of food and balance of nutrients for the period in my fridge cupboard.…

Potato chips aren't as bad as most of us think. Just moderate calorie, fat and salt levels compared to a lot of other processed food. Especially if you eat the thin ones. You might be able to fit a 42g bag of chips into your diet if you love them and plan for it. Without any negative effect at all.

According to my MFP target numbers they think my ratio should be C: 66% P: 18% F: 16% I'm currently over on protein and a little under for the other 2. Those to don't seem to be near what anyone here is talking about aiming for :\

I started at 303lbs with 171lbs of lean mass 2 weeks ago. I dropped 6lbs first week and also picked up 6lbs of lean mass. Not doing VLCD but I guess its from same effect you mention for obese people. How much lean mass should a normal person expect to lose per lb dropped normally?

Pretty much an accident. I am trying to eat whenever i am hungry #1, and then fitting in suitable calorie snacks/meals as I learn how big they need to be. Drinking 6 litres of water per day helps me eat to a low calorie level without hunger pang problems I think. It's weird I can do it coming off probably 4000+ calories…
