Me! Week 10 down.

On another note I am sorry I said I was in, and forgot to post until now -- I posted today 4/15 my info so far, April 2 SW and April 9 week1 weigh-ins included. I'll add tomorrow morning's weigh-in but it might not be till the afternoon when I can get to a PC. (SW 227.8, Week 1 221, -6.8lbs)

Holy hat, I forgot about this thread! I have my numbers, though, here they are so far, with week 2 weigh-in tomorrow. SW - 227.8 lbs Week 1 - 221 lbs Week 2 - xxx lbs Week 3 - xxx lbs Week 4 - xxx lbs Total lost - 6.8 lbs* (*Today I am actually at 5.2 lbs lost, having bounced up a bit and in a little bit of a plateau. As…

I will try to participate, too. I will post my starting weight on 2 April, and I will log every Saturday morning's weight and also on the last day of April (or the very next morning). Hopefully I will remember to do so, but this is my plan. Edit: I am away from access to a scale until Saturday morning, hence my first…

Polo, That photo of you fitting into one leg of your old pants is classic! Good job!

I hit my first wall after the first week. But that was because I started calorie counting, then about a week and a half later started exercising very hard, which required me to change my diet all over again. So I waited a whole month to see any new weightloss. While I am not a fan of cheat days, I think for many (myself…

On a similar note I think I am dealing with a little jealousy. No, wait. A lot. It is really a lonely road when some people you care about get unhappy that you are making progress, yet are completely unable to convince themselves to go down a similar road. Misery truly loves company. I have gained a perspective on having…

Sticking to it is important. I had a 5lb loss in my first week, then went something like a month *virtually unchanged* in weight. I thought I would never see a 10lb loss milestone, and finally I suddenly had a downward spurt to 8-9lbs lost, and then a week or so later jumped down to *FOURTEEN* lbs loss. Currently sitting…

I'm with you, moob-y peeps. That is probably the single biggest thing that disgusts me about myself. I seem to notice that on some days they jiggle more obviously and annoyingly and uncomfortably than others. Mine were never massive like some poor peeps but they were big enough to make me hate myself. Jutting out like that…

Day 5 of Week 4 tonight. Going on faith now, had a little movement on the scale and hoping lots of well-hidden changes are going to come to light in the next few weeks. Have a huge issue with my nutrition, am feeling more achy than I should right now. Going to have to redouble my efforts to eat right (I'm not eating crap…

The body will generally burn fat evenly, in the sense that it will come off in kind of uniformly-thin layers all over the body, so the bigger/thicker areas will be the last to go. That's why people generally struggle with those last trouble areas like the stomach, since they start out as the thickest areas.

I use GNC Amplified Wheybolic 60, but I want to investigate other choices too!

Hi DS13, so you are at the 30 day mark? If it's any consolation I am 22 days in and am not seeing fantastical visual results either. But then, and I guess this is important for both of us: it is consistently the case that people don't "see" much in the first 30 days. The wisdom is that you feel stronger, more capable, but…

The one comfort I can take away from my astonishing fall off the wagon was that it was kind of a forced situation -- I had no interest whatsoever in having my regimen interrupted, but it was a rare occasion and I was truly obligated. If I didn't have to entertain I would never have strayed from my meal planning. And, I…
-
Yes! I pretty much had to "cheat" for the last couple days, dealing with entertaining guests plus the Valentine's nonsense. I mean, a little chocolate never hurt noone, but I was subjected to hosting some restaurant dinners, wining/dining, and then had the holiday stuff directly after, meaning I gained a few lbs very…

Limped through shoulders and arms due to being somewhat unwell. I was subjected to some bad food I think and am glad to be back on the wagon after a couple days of having to entertain guests. Still am not at 100%. My weigh-in today really suffered, too: I am now essentially right back to square one, though I guess I need…

I could probably steal your girlfriend/wife/mistress. ;)

Yea, agree actually. So far I haven't bought any of their products and instead get some stuff from GNC. And it continues to be the case that I top out at about 250g protein in a day, because in general I don't like stuffing down a lot of bars and shakes. Usually I come up quite short of 250, let alone 350g. At most, on any…

Polar I hear is good HRM, I have a Timex which works fine for me. Except I ignore the calorie count. I assume 600 calories/workout but I never seem to be able to eat enough to reach the ~3K cal/day I am supposed to need according to the calculations, so I hope it all works out. (I do try for 3000 cal but rarely get close…

Lots of good comments to see, reassuring as I am seeing the same things you guys (and gals) are. Still ignoring calories burned on HRM since I am too lazy to see if there's some settings I can change. Not seeing any real outward body changes, still feel like I am imagining that my jeans are ever so slightly less tight. The…

While on the subject of heart rate I think I am finally beginning to see a trend where it is actually getting more difficult to reach the point where I am over 170 bpm. Last week I reached mid-174 repeatedly and easily -- now when I think I am beating hard and fast I check my HRM and I'm actually almost always below 170.…
-
For now I do without the calorie count on Timex. I got readings like 1400 calories burned per workout in the first week, so I've been using it only as a HRM and am ignoring the values. I guesstimate at an average of 600 cal burned/workout. As an out of shape 235lb-er I think it is a fair guesstimate given that I easily can…

You should log it in, maybe expect to gain some of it back over the next week, or have slower than usual loss for a week or so, especially when your stomach gets sorted out. Who knows, really -- if you are losing weight at a healthy rate it will all work out in the end. It is important to look at a bigger picture than even…
-
OK, going home later to use my Timex.

I just stumbled on this after having to week through a lot of this garbage. I'm thinking of inputting everything on my own and keeping it all in my foods just so I don't get the wrong stuff in there. I found several versions of my protein bar with the wrong data, and stuff like 1,000 "grape nuts" entries, etc.

Hey DS13, for the pullups, yea that is what I am banking on. Next time I do them I plan on working real hard on the negative aspect of the pullup (where you let yourself down slowly). I literally did my first sets of assisted pullups on a real bar last night, after relying on my lat pulldown machine to mimic the motions.…

Hitting 350g protein (Using P90X suggestions for a big ole level III in phase I, like me) is proving almost impossible so far, what with schedule and inability to find time to prep some serious fish and meat action. I manage about 225-250g on a decent day, and that is with bars and shakes giving me a leg up.

Did Legs and Back last night. I had to skip Ab Ripper X as it was getting late. So I guess it's Kenpo and Ab Ripper night tonight. I really enjoy Kenpo so I'm hoping this recent string of being somewhat less fatigued means I will really be rockin' through Kenpo, because I already was doing really good my first week. It's…

Reward yourself in non-food ways would be my suggestion. If you are into shoes, a nice new pair. Maybe every time you lose a size, a new outfit? In general it is best to not center on things like "cheat days" etc. It just makes you pine for bad food all the more as you wait for your bad-food reward. Funny, come to think of…
