One of the symptoms which has been in complete remission since I have taken vitamin C is my itchy fingers. I now realize it probably was eczema related to a histamine intolerance.

I agree, a long list of Paleo foods are offenders. I have a case where my symptoms are expressed as an acute bout of hay fever-runny nose, puffy and runny eyes, and itching fingers. I have eliminated processed meats and fermented foods. I found reference that high doses of vitamin C might be helpful. I take 3 X 1 gram of…

I agree he professed the virtues of a high carb diet in his epic book in 1986 and was held in high esteem in the high endurance athletic to community. When he became pre-diabetic it forced him to re-evaluate his positions. He has done a 180 turn around and embraces a LCHF diet lifestyle. He has received much criticism from…

It's a tough problem. Behavior changes are the long term solution. Short term you may want to research L-Glutamine to ease the carbohydrate cravings.

Sorry, totally missed that you haven't passed the stone and totally agree sugary juices are a poor idea. Must be an effect of the 7 screwdrivers I've had today. Hope you are able to pass and retrieve the stone without too much pain.

Did a quick search: kidney stones vitamin D Interesting, first 10 articles seem to be split. For every reference I found linking Vitamin D supplementation to kidney stones, I found a contrary reference. Like everything else you research. Here is a pretty good reference about kidney stones.…

Yikes! If you ever have had a kidney stone or been in the company of anyone passing one, EXTREMELY painful. Not life threatening but bad luck your kidney ruptured. Did they send out the stone to get it analyzed, so there is no guessing as to its composition. Vitamin D as causation? High or low? I will have to research.…

I have a somewhat similar regiment: Vitamin K2 (MK-7) 100 mcg, Vitamin D 2000 IU (fall, winter, spring), Magnesium glycinate 250 mg. I think 20 cg=200,000 mcg, can that be right? Could it me 200 mcg? What do you attribute your inclination to eating less junk food? Is it the combination of supplements you are taking or can…

I take magnesium glycinate powder. It is supposed to be one of the most bioavailable forms with the least side effects. I take 1/4 gram a day at night dissolved in water. Highly economic and it works. Improved sleep and no night cramps. It doesn't taste great, it doesn't matter to me. I don't drink it for the taste. I…

the warning given about Mg for kidney is that poor dialysis patients are given a 3000mg bolus of Mg in IV..and it is far too much too fast..this info, trickles out and "Mg is not for kidney patients" which is untrue..like many untruths people believe..even Mds repeat it, frustrating. ( in Volek & Phinney book they say it…

"The hallmark of Cuban medicine has been designing and putting into effect a system of primary and preventive health care which is little more than sloganeering in other countries. Only 2–3% of US health care expenditures are for preventive care." There are a staggering number of MRI & CT facilities in the US. There is a…

And my B-Complex has some vitamin C in it, but I really hate taking C vitamins, because my body seems to DUMP all of it in my waste!!!! Are you referring to vitamin C elimination in your urine or gut and/or bowel elimination? I don't see a problem with elimination in your urine as it is the body's natural means of…

I think if you suffer insomnia, are depressed, anxious, have racing thoughts, aren't present and pain has become your best friend it is probably hard to fell empathy for anyone. If those other symptoms are resolved with a LCHF diet then you have a shot at feeling empathy for other.

Belt sander. :D Wish it was that simple! Spot targeting just doesn't work. Seriously, there is a noticeable difference in the two pics.

I think a combination of stress, lack of sleep, maybe adrenal fatigue, exercise when your not at the top of your game may all contribute to your problem. Maybe a chill and reset would help. I see you take 5-htp and zinc as a supplement. Maybe consider supplementing with magnesium, might be helpful. I am amazed at how much…

I think someone addicted to a HCLF diet and a magnesium deficiency would have BINGO!

LCHF or Ketogenic diet, don't you think?

Results resulted in an increase on a marker. A modest increase in LDL and TC linked to higher incidence CHD or stroke? I do see an increase in HDL. Is an increase in HDL linked to a lower incidence of CHD or stroke?

Deplorable but not surprising. Business as usual. I saw a documentary where a representative from Coca Cola blame childhood obesity on the government. I agree the government deserves a lot of blame for the USDA dietary recommendations. The representative blamed childhood obesity on the governments lack of mandating PE…

Ditch him. It is not your job to educate or enlighten. Most doctors spew the party line, there is only one way and only one accreditation process. They live in that world and are supported by the system and they live there happily. They have invested a lot and aren't looking to rock the boat. Their attitude is... this is…

Some people think that TG/HDL ratio and LDL particle size are much better assessment tools. The reason Total Cholesterol and LDL are so intensely tested and monitored is to fit into an assessment calculator used to prescribe statins. Any enlightened Lipidologist knows that TC and LDL are only part of the picture. I don't…

Absolutely agree! Most medical studies run only a few weeks. The only longer term study that I can remember wasn't very scientific but anecdotal, involving two Nordic explorers who ate an all meat ketogenic diet for a year without any detriment to their health.

I have done it in the summer, 2-3 times a week, in the heat. I have not been so interested in food but have kept well hydrated. Summer is the time when I experiment with intermittent fasting. I pick a day where I am not going to exert myself. As long as I get enough electrolytes and minerals, I feel comfortable and focused.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the link below has a good blog regarding histamine sensitivity. There is also a follow up post on the same site. http://thatpaleoguy.com/2011/04/11/histamine-intolerance/
