An Epsom salt soak may help alleviate the pain.

Please report back with your experience, good or bad.

That is unfortunate. My aunt has been diagnosed with stage 4 CKD and high blood pressure. She has all the symptoms of metabolic syndrome which is pushing all the buttons for diabetes. She is on an extremely high dose of Lasix and tons of other meds. She doesn't get the link between diet and lifestyle and her health. She…

...and we, Americans, eat HFCS like no other nation. It is a sin that we are a "civilized" nation and out diet is deplorable. The politics of food is frightening. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2239302/Syrup-biscuits-ice-cream-energy-drinks-fuelling-diabetes-global-scale.html Lobbyists protect the interests of…

I don't care for warm avocado. I went back to peppers and eggs with dill or tarragon, a better combo for me.

There are lots of forms of magnesium supplements. Here is a good article about the different forms and their plusses and minuses. http://fixyourgut.com/magnesium-most-overlooked-mineral-for-improving-health/

Good post KETOGENICGURL. I have been playing with transdermal oil for about a month now together with supplementation. I use magnesium chloride flakes melted in shea butter and coconut oil and apply all over. My skin has really responded well to this combo. I also use an Epson salt foot soak after hiking. Your point…

Please read this regarding cramping Ca, Mg and vitamin D. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/carolyn-dean-md-nd/bone-health_b_1540931.html

Great job! 22 pounds is a great achievement. Keep going.

Too funny! I had the very same experience with a vitamin D increase to 5,000 IU; cramping EVERY night. I could not figure it out. Very painful to have a cramp in the left foot arch and right calf at the same time. I now supplement with 400mg magnesium glycinate before bed. I don't supplement with vitamin D in the summer…

+1 Lot's omega-6 oils and phytic acid in most nuts.

Can't say that I am a fan of the recent trends in Paleo cookbooks in duplicating desserts for routine consumption using coconut flour and almond flour. I allow myself one treat a week or so and it doesn't need to be Paleo. I don't buy multiple servings to consume at home.

Sweet peppers stuffed with cream cheese, ham, olives and sliced avocado.

It is hard to get enough magnesium and so supplementation is good. Ditch the 99 mg potassium supplement. When you need something like 4000 mg of potassium daily it is not doing you much good. Research some high potassium foods kale, Swiss char, sweet potato, etc. It takes planning to get to 4000mg. I take a half a dozen…

Magnesium is underrated as a supplement. If you have the interest and time an interesting podcast. http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/the-llvlc-show-episode-602-morley-robbins-says-what-you-dont-know-about-magnesium-might-kill-you/15230

You might want to reference the Atkins Maintenance Phase in a web search-should be applicable.

I use Bulletproof coffee if I am trying to prolong a fast. Bulletproof coffee is fuel that is void of minerals and micronutrients, for me. I would much rather eat real food.

Check out the work of John Kiefer. He says it can't happen. His work on carb back-loading is interesting. http://athlete.io/3060/does-protein-make-you-fat-the-shocking-truth/

Sometimes it is difficult to meet fat requirements and not exceed protein requirements if you rely on meat sources only. You might look into fat sources without high protein content. Here are some fat bomb recipes. http://lowcarbediem.com/fat-bombs-recipes-atkins-ketosis/

There are many forms of magnesium available for supplementation. I spent 3-4 hours researching magnesium supplements. It is very confusing as to which form is most effective. Here is a pretty good post I found which is pretty comprehensive. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the information but it looks like a good place to…

How did you feel taking 400 gm of magnesium citrate? Did you experience any symptoms of Mg deficiency? Listed here: http://www.ancient-minerals.com/magnesium-deficiency/symptoms-signs/ I take 500 mg of magnesium glycinate. It is supposed to have very good bioavailability with the least side effects. Who knows for sure?

It is a controversial subject, here are some opinions from some well respected individuals. http://www.ketogenic-diet-resource.com/daily-protein-requirement.html

Heavenly! Thank you! Don't have mackerel but have sardines. Plan to use your ideas tonight, with some grill roasted peppers and a side of humus with the salsa and guacamole. Will probably lightly grill the sardines to finish them off.
