I'm 26 (is that cool?) and looking to lose 20! So far it's been really hard not to give into my cravings (I've fought it though, and have been at it for 11 days now and have lost 1.5 pounds!) Would love any motivation and support!

Today, and 13 days counting, I have said no to alcohol. Gonna reward myself indulgently on Halloween

Also this ^ I jog and get extensive knee pain (even with wearing proper footwear), and I had seen my doctor a few years ago about the pain (since it's an ongoing thing) and she said my weight was a contributing factor. I'm 26 and want to salvage my knees, and not want to undergo surgery or of the like.

I went jean shopping with my boyfriend and had to get the biggest size. Worst thing about change rooms is the three-way mirror. Saw how big my butt was and thought, "Nope, this is stopping TODAY."

I am in! I am not drinking until Halloween. I used to drink every single weekend and always felt like crap the next day. I just started this journey so anyone who has been through this and can give tips is greatly appreciated. Do you lose weight faster if you don't drink?

Thick thighs, full of surprises! - It is problematic for me too. The women in my family have big legs and thighs and hips. Running really helped me immensely. But also lower-body resistance training did wonders. Have gained all that weight back this year (booo), but now I'm going to get rid of it again ;)

5'9" here. I've always hovered around 160-170 lbs throughout my adult life, but wanna lean the eff out and look sexy. Current weight is around 167, goal weight is 145. I'm working out 4x a week for at least a month now and the scale has hardly moved, but I'm feeling stronger! I like that feeling. It's slow but we'll get…

I agree, being honest with yourself is super helpful. My birthday was this week, so you can imagine all the cakes and alcohol that sat in front of me. I know I'll be over this week, and that's ok! Sunday onwards I know I'll go back to it and won't feel guilty cuz it's only once in a blue moon! We aren't perfect, we're…

I too am feeling the same way! I haven't lost anything :( I workout 4x a week and log my calories, only difference is I've been feeling stronger as each week goes by, but why haven't I felt any difference in my clothes or seen a shift in my weight? :( so frustrating.

VANCOUVER GIRL HERE. ;)

I'm 5'9" and a half, currently around 165 lbs. I've always been at this weight, however last year I was working hard and eating right and running every other day, and it look me about 4 months to lose 15 lbs. I've sadly gained that all back, but now I'm back on it again and looking to lose 20 lbs this year, to be at my…

Thank you. I'm currently walking to and from work almost everyday and feeling good. I'm going to try and start jogging again soon. Feels good to move and take care of yourself. I forgot what it was like.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Did he say why he wanted a divorce? Maybe it's something you both could work on?

Thank you to all of you for the motivational words... It definitely helps to know that I am not alone and that it's all a process. Its really crappy right now and, at the end of the day I really do not want to treat my body badly because of how I'm feeling right now. Trying to keep a positive outlook on myself, my future…

It's interesting because yesterday before my run I had 1 1/2 cups of organic cereal, and I had this amazing rush of energy at the beginning of my run. Half way through I began to fall behind, my energy dwindled. But those times when I could run faster than ever, I ate stuff like spinach and a bit of chicken, and I waited…

9. Not the kid though, I had to look through your photos to see the real you. LOL.

Totally this! I never enjoyed many of the unhealthy foods anyhow, so it's kind of worked in my favour. I've heavily cut back on alcohol because I've been plateauing for two months and realized I was drinking my calories. Other than that, it's all in moderation, and if you're still within your calorie limit, *kitten* it!…

Hey I'm in Vancouver, totally in! Not sure if you're still up for it? :)

Holy crap, same here! I've always been the tallest in my classes in elementary school and got bullied for it. Some people I used to know would make me feel insecure about my weight/height because they bragged about how great it is to be petite/short. Most days I feel okay being my height (5'9.5"), but sometimes, and…

You're my twin! I'm just under 5'10" and I'm fluctuating between 170-165 lbs. and I'm around a size 10-12 depending on the brand.

No gyms for me for the time being. I have some dumbbells at home. Thanks for the link and tips. :)

Good point. Maybe I could cut my running to 3xweek but just up the distance/time (currently training for a 10K anyway!) This will take time though, as I've just been able to reach 5K in the past two weeks or so. Ahhh, the joys of weight loss!
-
Also wanted to ask: should I be weight training the same day I do my 5K runs? The runs take a lot out of me (in a good way though  ) but not sure if I could do both if I'm wanting to do a serious weight regime as well. As far as it stands I'm only running 4xweek. Do you guys recommend that I run and the days I don't…

Thanks for the replies so far. Killer. Looking at Stronglift 5x5... anybody had any experience with deadlifts? I hear this is great especially for thighs and *kitten*. What are your thoughts on this? (Sorry, I'm a total newbie when it comes to strength training).

5'9" Bust: 38B Waist: 30 Hips: 45 My waist won't budge!! It's been sitting at this since the beginning of April. Perhaps if there's not much to lose on your waist, it won't shrink? At least not by much?... that's my guessing. Anybody else have any ideas?

I think I'd find it too distracting to date when I'm trying to better myself already. Plus, I'd like to date guys who are also into fitness, but not being fit myself (or just not being at my goal weight yet) is kind of hypocritical. While sometimes it can DEFINITELY get lonely, I feel better knowing that once I've reached…
