  • I recently found out I had celiac. I made chili and decided to check the label for the seasoning. Really surprised to see wheat in the ingredients also Spanish rice. Looks like I need to read all the labels before I cook.
  • I got my fit bit the end of June and I love it. It really challenges me to get 10,000 steps in daily. As someone else posted, I will walk up extra flights of stairs and go the long way to different offices on Campus just to add in more steps. I love that it syncs with MFP. I log my food on MFP and it syncs over to the fit…
  • I have been reading all the posts and they really keep my motivated. My daughter registered us for the Disney marathon in February. I have never been a runner but I will give it a shot. I started my training today and I couldn't believe it was 91 degrees. I thought it was suppose to be cooler today. My girlfriend is…
  • It is a beautiful afternoon here in NE. Nice sunny and only about 75 degrees. Had the windows open since last night and the house feels great. Kathy-Hope your toe is feeling better. Glad that you had the stitches removed. I never heard of Zookinesis but will check it out on the web since you say it is so much fun.…
  • Hello everyone! Finally able to post and catch up with everyone. Sorry for my absence, I take my grandson to college tomorrow and it has been two weeks of shop till you drop almost every day. As I have seen others post, I love reading everyone's post and I still get confused trying to keep everyone straight. Congrats to…
  • Just back from the gym and loved every moment of it. It has been so hot here that I was so drained I haven't been to the gym for 2 weeks. I really missed it. It is only a little after 7 pm here and I have already taken 12,475 steps-passed my daily goal of 10,000. I have been reading all the posts but still haven't gotten…
  • Happy Monday!!! It was cooler this morning but has hit high temps again this afternoon and evening-I think around 100 again. I have been reading everyone's posts and you guys are really busy. I have to weigh in tomorrow morning and am really quit excited. I know it will show a loss and that makes me happy. I was even able…
  • Hello! I am new to this thread. I am 61 years old and have 4 grown children-the last starts college in August- so I will be an empty-nester; just me and the dog. My doctor has me on a very stick meal plan as all my numbers were very high. I had my physical the end of March and started on this food plan the 7th of July. I…
  • I agree, my workout buddy and I add accountability to each other to get to the gym. We set up days and time that we are going to be there. We may ride the bike or walk on the treadmill at the same time. In the beginning we talked more than we do now. But it is nice to know that someone else is there if either of us needs a…
  • See post below. Learned how to put quote in post. Sorry.
  • I am working with my doctor to get healthier. He wants me to drink 1/2 my body weight of water (ounces) per day. He also discussed dehydration with me and as many of you have stated you can gauge if you are dehydrated by the color of your urine. So 8 glasses of water a day just does not cut it for me. I am using a 24 oz…
  • This challenge is really helping me out. I am using my 24 oz cup and even bringing it to work with me. July 1 - 72 oz of water July 2 - 72 oz of water - also 2 cups of green tea July 3 - 96 oz of water - also 1 cup of green tea July 4 - in progress already drank 36 oz - more to come
  • Thanks for the challenge. This will really help me be accountable for making my daily goal. I am in for the month of July!!!
  • I am working on changing habits and eating healthier. I am working on a 2 phase plan that I discussed with my doctor. I lost 24 pounds starting last January through June. I worked on maintaining the weight loss from July through December. I am in the losing phasing again and hope to lose at least 30 pounds by the end of…
  • I am unable to find the group or even Amanda in facebook.
  • This is great. I have been looking for some additional support. I am ready, willing, and able to join. Debbie 60 Nebraska 222 End of Challenge Weight: 199 Total Goal Weight: 142 Laughter is the best medicine especially since I learned to laugh at myself.
  • Having lived on the east coast for may years and experienced what you will be going through, first and foremost, make sure you are safe. Also, there have been so many great suggestions, I would like to add just a few more. First, make sure you have candles and something to light the candles with in case you lose power.…
  • My cube mate at work has been juicing for the past 8 weeks. He has a lot of food allergies. I have always been interested in juicing so he brought his juicer to work and gave us a great demo. He juiced fruits and then veggies. It really tasted very good. I am going to try his juicing regimen for two weeks and then add my…
  • Having the scale in a place that you see it every day is very tempting. I usually weigh myself once a week, that being said, my scale in out in the bathroom and I see it on a daily basis. Most of the time, I can stick to once a week, as I agree with many of the comments that have already been said about fluctuation. The…
  • This look great. I am going to try this one and not tell the teenagers about the crust till after they have finished. Thanks for the heads up on the parchment paper.
  • I just found this board and am really glad that I did. My goals for July have been off since I am the only care taker of my grandson who had surgery on 7/1/11. I am really missing going to the gym 3 times a week but should be able to get there sometime this week (after his next dr appt). I set a goal of 1 hr at the gym 3…
  • I was doing realy great. Then I decided to give myself a goal weight for my birthday. I did not make that goal and began having serious doubts about what I was doing. I really started to get a negative attitude and did not lose anything for about a month. I realized that, for me, I was sabotaging myself and being very hard…
  • I would get moving. Any movement will get you going. If you have some laundry and you would have to walk stairs to get to the laudry room you would kill two birds with one stone and you would be up to do some other kind of exercise. No matter what, just get moving.
  • Keep doing what you are doing. Every once in a while we retain water. As others have mentioned there does not have to be a reason. I have been at a plateau for a few weeks and I know that it will go down as long as I don't give up. Sometimes it is that I have not been getting my usual amount of sleep, I am a little…
  • I agree. I have been going to the gym three days a week for the past month after work. I find that I am not hungry when I get home and really don't want to eat.
  • I went to visit my son and daughter-in-law last weekend. I started my weight loss journey at their house the end of December. I really do not see any difference in myself even though I am down about 30 lbs. I had gotten dressed to go horse back riding and my daughter-in-law commented on how large my blouse was. I had…
  • I am on the same medication and having the same issues. My next appt. with my doctor is in August and I am going to discuss this issue further. It seems as though it is taking a long time to drop any pounds and I am exercising at least 3 days a week at the gym and possibly one or two days at home.
  • As others have mentioned, kids tend to be very mean with their comments especially if the know it is a way to get your goat. You are doing an awesome job. Keep up the good work and consider the source regarding the rude, mean comment. They tend to know how to make us focus on something besides them. Have a great week!!!!
  • I agree. I have made a commitment to myself that I would log everything I ate no matter how high the caloric total went. I find it so helpful in the evening to see if I have any calories left for a snack. Sometimes it is pudding (made with either soy milk or skim milk), smoothie, portioned out size of girl scout cookies,…
  • During the week I have a 1/2 cup of oatmeal (eating at my desk at work) - 150 calories. This morning, I had 2 eggs over easy - 160 calories and 1 cup of frozen blueberries - 79 calories - total 239.
