Exactly this. Don't give up, you're doing all the right things!

You're right up the road from me OP. Mississauga here! Best of luck to you!

I haven't quite reached my goal yet, but I believe you're supposed to recalculate the numbers to find out how many calories you need to maintain your current weight to give you an estimate and then basically it's about trial and error depending upon how active you are. Hope this helps.

That's unfortunate. Try not to look at it as a defeat, just a little set back. Learn from your mistakes and jump right back in with both feet. I know it's easier said than done, but sometimes you just have to be your own cheerleader. Please don't let it get you down and most of all, don't give up! :flowerforyou:

Until recently I had never tried chick peas before either but I started with this soup recipe that I found and just loved it! Chick Pea & Orzo Soup 3 Tbsp olive oil 2 Tbsp minced garlic 2 leeks (both white & green part) carefully washed & sliced thinly 1 tomato, peeled, seeded & chopped 2 Tbsp tomato paste 1 Tbsp fresh…

I can't believe no one has mentioned Stompin' Tom? tee hee

I love this, it gave me a chuckle! When I start the C25K this spring I hope to channel my inner rhino-gazelle!

I'm loving all the motivational comments! OP, I'm sure everyone feels some level of discomfort when they first start out and workout in front of others. I know that I did for sure! Try not to worry about what other people think because in the end it really doesn't matter. Focus on your goals and getting that walk/jog/run…

Nothing. I haven't eaten there in over a year and I don't miss it at all. If I'm craving a fast food burger I'd rather go to Wendy's.

I usually put the potatoes and carrots in the roasting pan with the roast with no oil added. Or just boil the potatoes and mash them. I've never had a parsnip in my life so I couldn't give you any advice with that. Love, love, love yorkshire pudding but would keep those at a minimum. On the whole, as others have said, a…

I've cut way back on processed foods and fast foods but I've added in lots of new foods that I've never tried before. Quinoa, butternut squash, chick peas, leeks, cranberries, mango, to name a few. I've also stopped eating margarine and replaced it with butter... in moderation of course. :drinker:

I'm 5' 7" and my goal weight is 145 lbs. If those are truly your measurements, you must look awesome! I say ditch the boyfriend who only seems to be making you feel bad about yourself and learn to love and accept yourself for the beautiful person you are. :flowerforyou:

Good for you poohbah! Although I am not a senior, I am 45, I found your story to be truly inspirational! Thank you! :flowerforyou:

Multiply all those numbers by your body weight. 157 x 1.5 = 235 Maybe it's just me, but that seems like an excessive amount of protein.

I'm from the Great Lakes area as well, Canadian side. I'm feeling it as well. Very lethargic and my mood is quite low but I'm holding up alright. I just keep telling myself winter will be over soon and just hold on, spring is a coming!

Search youtube for Leslie Sansone walking workouts to do in your living room. May help you to ease into. Good luck!!

I recently tried Five Guys because I heard they were so good. For all the calories in one of their burgers I was hoping to be blown away but I only came away totally disappointed because it was mediocre at best. I never ordered fries but tried one of my sisters... again, disappointing. I can make better homemade burgers…

I just plugged in your stats to calculate your BMR because I was curious and it came out to 1861 which is the calories you would need just for your basic bodily functions without any activity. I would probably want to up your intake at least slightly, even more than slightly, especially if you're working out so much. I'm…

I eat 2 whole eggs probably 5-6 days a week. Love 'em! They are my go to food!

Perfectly said neandermagnon, I agree wholeheartedly! I've found focusing more on how I feel (improved strength and endurance) rather than the scale has served me well. I didn't see any weight change in the first month of starting this journey but I knew I didn't want to give up. I do my best every day and naturally some…

Great story/progress! Good on ya!! Cookies all 'round!! :drinker:

Unless you're using the TDEE method, you should be eating back your exercise calories.
