Good luck on your journey. I chose to ignore the work health fair for two years when they tried to tell me I was diabetic, but this past weekend a doctor I completely trust told me. I have to make changes if I want to be here with my husband and kids- it's just so hard, I've been eating this way forty-something years.

Thanks. The main thing I am trying to do is get it to recognize good fars vs bad fats, but it won't hold my goal for unsat and mono-unsat?

No idea why my Dr. Chose it, just know he did. I actually already have several DASH books. I am just trying to get the tracker to adapt to do what he told me. He has an MD after his name- I don't.

Yes, you are being helpful, much appreciated. I cannot get the macros to enter correctly because it keeps insisting on percentages of the total. Is there a way to ignore percentage and enter only macros in grams? And only the saturates fats will let me change them? I change the other fats and it doesn't update them to my…

I asked for advice on getting mfp to do what I need it to do, not for advice on whether you agreed with it.

And I've already done just calories with mfp. It's not about weight for me, its about nutritional balance.

Because 1- my primary problem is carb binging and 2- my doctor says this is the best plan he knows to get me off bp meds and avoid diabetes. Why can't people just answer a question, if they actually know th E answer instead of telling someone what is wrong with their plan.

that is my problem too, my knees and ankles are so bad from carrying me around all this time, I get hurt all the time, twist a knee (even in bed sleeping at night sometimes)

my friend at work definitely was doing it while morbidly obese (she is in her mid-twenties), and she has lost a lot of weight, she is doing so good with the exercise and most of the time with her eating plan too (Christmas put 15 pounds on her, but she is back on track)- I put on ten pounds over christmas, but my fitness…

I've tried a lot of shoes. I used to be very Nike dedicated because they worked best for MY feet. I have changed over to Asics and have never regretted it. Everyone's foot is different though, so do a search online and find out who near you fits customers for running shoes. Don't buy shoes the day you go to be fitted! Wait…

losing weight often results in an increase in fertility- which to me is very frightening, my husband I are being EXTREMELY careful not to get pregnant because neither of us wants another child this late in the game

I've gone from size 26 down to size 22 in two months. ETA: I am 5'2"

good luck! I hope you get what you need for your project. I am doing my doctoral dissertation on psychological steps for weight loss, beginning research now although my dissertation won't officially start for another year (I want to be able to do a long-term study and still graduate quickly).

going to ride bicycles with my son, what an adventure this should be (son has mental handicap, kind of like riding bikes with a five year old kid- sometimes I almost die laughing and other times I almost die in frustration) :explode:

tonight we will have grilled chicken breasts with green beans or pinto beans and probably fresh grilled corn on the cob

Well for me personally, it is because I got into a habit of eating portions way too large, eating quickly and not even tasting the food, and eating lots of fried junk and sugar. I was getting absolutely no exercise, not even indirectly. Glad to have made some changes to this way of life, and know I have more changes to…

Your family are the ones who need psychological help at this point. 130 pounds for 5'2" is perfect weight. You don't need to lose weight.

No one in my family has ever gotten a flu shot. No one in my family has ever had the flu either. I really think it is all random chance with germ exposure, and no flu shot can protect against all strains, so you might get the shot and still get the flu, just a different strain of it. It's really just a personal choice,…

lots of steals and deals on craigslist, amazon and ebay walmart carries a wide assortment of workout dvd's and other stuff for really low prices- I would go to your local walmart and check out the selection before buying anywhere else, because you get more bang for your buck there and you can get a variety of stuff instead…

they have this policy probably for one of two reasons: 1) insurance recommendation/ limiting liability or 2) it is part of a research project that must have certain parameters in it look for another program, check out some church-held programs, there are lots of those
