According the my nutritionist, the body basically is looking to be fed about every 3 hours, so you are completely normal! I always keep healthy snacks at work, yogurts, almonds, cottage cheese cups, cheese sticks, fruit, etc...

Excellent! By this logic granite doesn't weigh more then feathers... I hate it when people say that.

Because exercise is good for you beyond weight loss. The reason you eat back your exercise calories is there is already a caloric deficit built into you MFP daily calorie goal, so when you exercise and burn calories, you need to eat at least some of those back to ensure that you are getting the energy/nutrition that you…

Look at the big picture. According to your post, you've only been working at losing weight for a month and you've lost 10 pounds! That is an excellent month, congratulations! You don't get into a lot of specifics as to your calorie intake, exercise, etc... but if you feel the need to pig out (your words), then it is…

Most non-chain restaurants do not have nutritional information. You just need to do your best. I find that looking for uncomplicated dishes is best. Foods with sauces, etc.... could be difficult to estimate and likely very high calorie.

Interesting discussion. I made the decision not to log the routine walking I do in my daily life. I actually have about a 15 - 20 minute walk to and from the train station each day which I've stopped logging. My rationale was that I've been doing that walk for years and still gained weight and I also had no intention of…

Good recipe. Cooked it tonight!

I can't read on an elliptical... too much movement, but audio books and podcasts are the way to go.

I'm not familiar with their margaritas. If they are frozen, probably 300+ calories. If they are just "on the rocks" probably more like 150 - 200. Have fun!

My ring finger has apparently not gotten any skinnier!

What Lizzy said! Weighing yourself immediately after running, or any exercise for that matter, is not really a great idea.

I'm not sure how he binging option comes into play... Anyway, you didn't say how far over you were for the day,but I'd say no worrles. As you know, you'd have to be 3500 calories over your maintenance to gain 1 pound of fat, so a few hundred is nothing. If you're really concerned, go for a long walk. Good Luck! P.S.:…

I don't understand the terms cheat meal, cheat day, etc... In order to actually lose weight, we need to be in a caloric deficit. We can eat whatever we want as long as the deficit is maintained. What does "cheat" mean in this context?

I don't log anything that I know is 0 calories. I also don't always log things that I know are very small number of calories... packet of sugar, etc... to compensate, I don't log a 15 minute (each way) walk to and from the train station to my office each day. Hopefully it is all a wash!

Bottom line is you've been at this for 3 weeks and have lost 5 pounds! That is an excellent result... congratulations!

Neither are particularly accurate, but since MFP has no idea how intense your workout was, I would guess that the elliptical machine might be closer. I find that when I wear my HRM, it is virtually always lower then the machine and the MFP number. Good luck!

I typically like a snack before hand, banana, yogurt, etc... then a meal afterward. Needless to say, I usually work out after work, so by the time I'm done I can eat a truck!
-
I highly suggest you seek out a new doctor and a registered dietitian to help you with an eating strategy. It sounds like you are already exercising, so you are on your way! Good luck!

Basically how I prepare all my vegetables. It's the best.

Not sure about the diet, but I make a cabbage soup recipe almost identical to that... because I love cabbage soup.

Good post - thanks. I don't think that anyone here will argue that water is good and necessary for all of the reasons you mention. The controversy here on MFP usually has to do with the strong suggestion that everyone needs to drink 8 glasses of water per day. If your urine is light in color and you aren't thirsty, do you…

Simple as that.

I will periodically use my HRM when lifting. The calories burned are not significant. Typically between 80 - 100 for 1/2 hour of lifting.

It's great that you are exercising, but you WILL NOT lose weight unless you are eating at a deficit. You diary is locked, so what is your daily calorie goal? Are you measuring/weighing and logging everything you eat, including the "junk"? You can eat whatever you want, as long as it fits within your daily goals. Good luck!
-
I plan on overeating significantly. Huge workouts the day before and after. I'll be fine.
-
Runtastic. I'm pretty sure it's free.

Correct.

Go back to what was working for you last June and stick with it! Good luck!

While I am not a weight loss expert, I do know that to be successful, you need to be consistent and patient. You only started this program in June and admittedly, you've been on and off in that short time. Also, even when you are following the program, you are not always eating at a deficit. With out knowing anything about…
