  • I can't so I don't. I get hungry about every 3 hours and I can't sleep when I'm hungry. I actually sleep better if I eat - take last night, I was trying to sleep until about 2am. Couldnt, got up had some yogurt with a banana, and soon after I went to bed. When I'm eating withing my range I lose weight no matter when I eat…
  • Ditto - I'm anti artificial/low fat/fat free etc. I use stevia (natural sweetener). It's just as good as splenda or anything like that. And teeccino for coffee...mocha flavored. I love it.

  • I feel like when I eat and watch tv, I end of eating more. Maybe if you planned your food ahead of time and were strict with what you are allowed to eat at night and then you just cut it off there, that would work better? It could be a good idea to eat not watching tv too and fully enjoy what you are eating. People eat…
  • The weight on the package should be the weight of the product raw. When you cook it, you may cook some of the fat off or the weight may change a bit. If you want to be really precise get a food scale. I just go by what it says raw or not, I figure it's not that many calories to make a big difference.
  • Welcome and good luck in your journey. I wanted to suggest trying "Dr Zevia". Zevia is a soda you can get at some health food stores or probably online if you can't find it. It's a bit pricey but depends how addicted you are to soda. Even just to wean yourself off. It's made with a natural sweetener - stevia, and something…
  • To the "worst" you should have responded "That's what happens when you eat all the extra food I haven't been eating." lol. What makes people so awful? Jealousy, insecurity, ignorance - or just plain mean!
  • Was just coming up with ideas for this lately. I don't believe in diet soda - chemicals can hinder weight loss not to mention they are bad for you. Stevia is a natural sweetener. Herbal tea - passion raspberry at the moment brewed and made into iced tea with stevia - it's pink and delicious. Also lemonade (lemons and…
  • You are right, there are only 2 schools I believe in the US that are "real" N.D schools that train as doctors in additional to natural medicine. She went to one of these which is Southwest in Arizona.

  • Most of my information is gained by my best friend who's a Naturopathic Doctor. While many people still may be able to lose weight while not watching sugar, for optimal health it is best to watch the sugar. This doesn't mean be perfect and never eat a piece of cake etc. I don't know what a specific amount per day would be.…
  • I make very easy things. I have a griddle - the kind you use for pancakes. I make turkey burgers and organic hamburgers on there. It's so easy and they're good. Also chicken, just marinade for an hour, throw in the over for about 20 mins, done. I have pyrex containers with lids I put my food in and take to work. Usually 1…
  • If you're gonna do it anyway, eat. But make sure to log everything, and plan for it - say "I'm going to eat because I'm emotional but I'm going to eat this". Keep some healthy treats. Some yogurt and a piece of dark chocolate. Or cook up a storm of healthy gourmet like food and save some for lunch the next day. Don't keep…
  • To Iaele75 - most of those foods can be made in a healthy way. Organic meat for hamburgers, fries from a good health food store in the frozen section ...etc. They still taste good, just most regular supermarket stuff is processed so heavily with chemicals.
  • Good fats. We need them. I use coconut oil to make eggs. Some people eat 3 tablespoons of it a day to help with ailments. It's healthy but has calories. Then olive oil on salads, for baking chicken etc. Protein with every meal. Dont forget to load up on veggies!
  • Stevia, and not just any you gotta get the good kind or it's gross. I get trader joes organic stevia. No it's not sugar but it's very sweet and I love it!
  • Hmm, I use to make homemade dips from greek yogurt with onion and garlic powder...stevia..mmm..thanks for the reminder!
  • Thanks everyone! The "100" list is great too! Also, one of my fav's is sunflower seed butter from Trader Joes. So creamy and doesn't taste healthy!
  • Thanks! Great list! The 100 foods under 100 calories link is broken though. Any others?
  • I'm a little sad that people think there is no such thing as unhealthy food. While I wish this were true - some food isn't really even food! The way it's processed - all the canola oil, GMO foods - corn, soy etc are only 2 molecules away from plastic! Now I know you don't think eating plastic is healthy..i hope! This is…
  • I know for myself, I lose not just more weight but fat doing low carbs. I especially pay attention the amount of sugar as well. The problem with bread and all that stuff is, it's not made the way it use to be made. The way it is processed makes most people allergic (not break out in hives kind) but just the way out bodies…
  • I discovered this healthy "coffee" called Teeccino. It comes in lots of flavors, and it's so good! If you use Stevia instead of sugar - it's a natural sweetener (only use a tiny bit), that will eliminate the refined sugar. I don't believe in low fat. It's not healthier, although there are plenty of people that buy into it.…
  • Lol this thread is too funny. Whoever replied to my post saying "you're wrong" with nothing to back it up, you are wrong, sorry. Doesn't it make sense that eating small meals frequently (like every 3-3 1/2 hours) would rev up your metabolism more than say 2 small meals and 1 giant dinner? Of course, if you eat few enough…
  • A big thing that clogs up our systems is dairy and wheat. Also GMO food. No soy, corn, or canola oil! Very hard to find things without some version of those ingredients but not impossible.
  • I'm an expert by proxy - my good friend is a Naturopathic Dr. The optimal way to eat is many small meals in a day. It keeps your metabolism going. I also heard this from someone who owned a gym. He was always eating, in the middle of the night, whenever - but not really big meals. I eat before bed if hungry, no harm,…
  • Does this solely depend on calories or on what you are eating? For example if you eat 600 calories of vegetables a day, it's not the same as eating 600 calories of candy bars. On the weight watchers program vegetables are "free" or were when at one time. Of course there are some like corn which are high in sugar. I eat…
  • The theory behind this is - your body adjusts to eating a certain amount of calories. So if for a little bit, it "thinks" it doesn't have to conserve as many calories it will burn up more. The body just wants to survive so it sets the metabolism accordingly. Some people say that having a cheat day helps - or at least…
  • I hear you. When I'm happy I want to enjoy life - that includes food. Maybe we should just try to enjoy our healthy food more, enjoy how good you look and feel being fit! It's ok to indulge sometimes too! But my goal is to limit this, to plan what I indulge, and thoroughly enjoy it while I'm eating it. Hope this helps.
  • Just to add my 2 cents - coconut oil is a great fat, helps you lose weight and has a very high smoking point, which is good for cooking.
  • I always eat 2 eggs with coconut oil, salt and pepper. Very filling. also got into teeccino (fake coffee) lately. It does need some kind of cream or creamer - SO coconut products has one - this is actually filling also. They claim no gluten drips when you make the coffee.
  • I figured I wasn't alone on this lol. I use stevia as a sweetener which I love in lemonade and my coffee substitute - teeccinio - which is like a healthy dessert beverage I recently discovered. I actually know all about sugar cravings and the only way to get rid of them is to not eat sugar at all - and eventually they…
