Simplest way way to figure it out is this: get your biggest bowl/container, tare it to 0 on the scale, dump all the food in, divide the total weight by number of people, then weigh out each individual's portion into their bowls. It's really not that time consuming to do(at least to me).

Honestly, I have neither system but my nephews have the Wii and my brother has the Kinect so I have gotten to play both and I much much prefer the Kinect. It forces you to do the movements more than the Wii. Because really, I could just sit in a chair and wave the wii controller around and still hit the marks, whereas with…

I do weigh daily, just to see my fluctuations, but record weight only when I lose(which is generally once a week). When I do that, I do it at the same time of day/empty belly and wearing the same clothes. I take pictures and measurements at every 10lbs lost.

It may be OCD but.. I really do weigh the entire batch after I'm done cooking! It may come from being a pastry chef that I use a scale all day long, but I don't find it too much of a pain to weigh. I usually make big batches to last me through the week so I'm gonna dump most of it into a food container anyways so after I…

Dinner tonight! Two thin sliced chicken breasts with steamed green beans and this vegetable concoction I made up! I dunno what to call it, but man it's tasty! It has a consistency that reminds me of curry but no curry spice involved! Just whatever veggies I want, sauteed, then half a cup or so of chicken broth mixed with…

Not a recipe, but I put one of the regular Nilla Wafers on the bottom before pouring on the filling! One wafer is only 15-17cal so it's still low! Sometimes I microwave immediately and it's still nice and crunchy on the bottom, other times I let it sit for ~15min so the cookie gets soft and soaks up some of the moisture.…

Aww, thanks! And I will eventually get to posting the recipes(perhaps in a separate thread as not to distract from this one?) only I'm busy entertaining sister from out of town this week! Soon, though!

Is the 2409 the total with the 20% subtracted off for weight loss or not? If you haven't, that's how much to need to eat to maintain your weight. As I understand it, MFP's number is the total of what you eat, plus eating back your exercise calories. With TDEE, you don't eat it back, because it accounts for your general…

Another seafood night! Made shirataki pasta again, with a sauce that's partway between vongole and alfredo, with mushrooms, onions, manila clams and one big tiger prawn! Poured on top of steamed broccoli and cauliflower, with a broiled parmesan yam on the side! In all, it was a very filling 585 calories!

This sounds totally delicious! The pictures make it look soo good

I like Chobani, and my new favorite is Dannon's Light & Fit greek yogurt, for whatever reason, it is the THICKEST yogurt I have ever had! And at only 80cal to boot!
-
Sounds interesting! Gonna try it later today!
-
This sounds/looks so good!

Hahah, yeah. They are so tasty though! I want to make roasted brussel sprouts with shallots and a splash of balsamic.. Mmmmm!
-
Brussel sprouts! =D =D

Oh! And tonight's main course! Alfredo shirataki pasta with mushrooms, onions, and lobster! Ended up around 300cal. I wanted to add some green veg but sadly none left in the house. =(( And my new addiction: broiled yam with black pepper and parmesan!

Wow, a lot of people want the rice recipe, haha! It's actually the easiest thing! You just grate raw cauliflower(I use the food processor for convenience) and cook it whichever way you want -- steamed, stir-fried, etc but keeping in mind that the 'rice' won't really absorb any liquid so it's best to mix it with dry…

I do the same, I work early in the morning (wake @ 4am, work @ 5am) so if I don't make sure to have an ample filling dinner, I wake up STARVING and annoyed until breakfast, which is usually no earlier than 8am.
-
Love cauliflower rice! I use it to make cilantro-lime rice like Chipotle's, and sushi rice!
-
Just made this last night and it was delish! I microwave-steamed half a yam for 4 minutes(little too soft, 3 next time!), then sliced into the flesh like you would when you cube avocados, opened it up and sprayed Pam over top and sprinkled some salt and pepper. Then I put it under the broiler for about 5 minutes before…

Oh. My. Crap. I was excited to share my recipes with you and I spent the last 30 minutes typing everything out and my browser crashed on me and the computer RESTARTED. Arrrgh! >___< I'll have to type it out again later, when I'm not busy tossing this stupid thing into the trash! =P

Chicken enchiladas with cilantro-lime cauliflower 'rice'! And some experimental sushi with the cauliflower rice, it was pretty dang tasty and only about 25cal per roll!

Another Portlander here! Though I technically live in Beaverton and work in Lake Oswego, but I still count right? ;D
-
Adding! I'm on the later side of 20s(I'm 28) but I can understand going through some of those bad eating habits. When I was 17-18, I dropped down to 120, which would have been GREAT as I am 5'2", but I did it by barely eating anything at all and excessively exercising. Now a decade later I am at my heaviest ever but I am…
-
Adding! Good job so far! I'm trying to lose ~50-60lbs myself.
-
Hooray, a fellow Portlander! Though technically, I'm in Beaverton.. But it still counts! =D
-
Good luck! I am in a similar boat -- I am a professional pastry chef in a french bakery and all day long there are a million fattening tasty things nearby! Eventually I'm going to start finding/creating low-cal recipes for sweets, until then it's HANDS OFF! Lol
-
I recommend the OXO scale also! It is actually the most recommended scale for the last few years with Cooks Illustrated and Serious Eats, both whom I trust with my cooking equipment needs.
-
Haha, yeah it was tough over the holidays but I 'let' myself have 200-300 more calories a day for the days around Christmas to make sure I didn't freak out and binge so it worked out in the end. ^_^
-
Thanks! And I see we have similar goals/weights so good luck to you too!
