Awesome. The changes are noticeable! I know how hard it is to see changes when you look at yourself or your own pictures, but trust me you can really see it. Keep working hard!

My newest NSV: In September I found a belt that I thought was mine. I tried to put it on and couldn't even get the ends to meet. I concluded that it was my 17 yo daughter's belt. I started working out and logging my food shortly thereafter. This week my wife put the belt that I thought was my daughter's out for me to wear.…

Way to go! The rest of us emotional eaters know how big of a victory that is.

It is quite a bit of loss but not unheard of so don't worry. If you have ever watched The Biggest Loser, contestants usually lose double digits during the first week. Some have lost more than 30 pounds the first week. Of course many of them are over 300 pounds (23 stone). Many high school and college wrestlers will lose…

Yum!

My go to proteins are:* Tuna. Salmon, Cod...really any fish. * Egg whites. (I make a ton of egg white omelettes with spices and sauteed veggies. Use lowfat or non-fat cheese slices for an additional kick of protein. I also just boil up eggs and have them ready to eat the egg whites. My dogs love the yolks. A few yolks are…

Avocado's are not people. They don't have opinions...Sorry couldn't resist.

I agree with most of what is said here. I believe weight training is important. However, I take exception to the part of the post that is underlined. "No proof"? That is a rather strong statement. Please refer to this study. http://jap.physiology.org/content/113/12/1831. I think this study lends some significant support to…

Way to go! Now go get a belt before something embarrassing happens. ;)

Keep up the strong work!

Start lifting. Increase your muscle mass. Muscles require energy just sitting there (unlike fat). Just don't let the minor weight gains bother you. You might want to investigate a method for measuring body composition rather than the indirect and inaccurate scale. Look into Bodpod, hydrostatic weighing or iDEXA scans.
-
Great work! Screw the scale ... the pictures say it all. Keep up the awesome work.
-
^^^This^^^ I think there is no doubt that you are gaining muscle. This will result in a weight gain. Is all weight gain bad? Isn't the actual goal fat loss and optimal body composition not a small number of the scale? This being said, of course one of the ways to monitor body composition is using a scale, but it is only a…

Who is the dingleberry that is flagging all the posts?
-
Way to go, Becky! Keep at it.

I feel you about getting bothered by the numbers on the scale going back up. Here is a suggestion. Try to shift your focus from your weight to your body composition. That is, focus on your body fat % and your lean muscle mass. Research getting tested using a BodPod or iDEXA scan. I would recommend an iDEXA scan. These…

Thanks for the inspiration. You are so right about lifting making the difference. Not only is it what makes the tone, but it makes a huge difference in maintenance. I have always found the girls with definition much more attractive than the super-skinny ones. Thanks for sharing.

Great job, wonderful story. Was your mom's surgery laproscopic or traditional donor surgery?
-
You are definitely an inspiration.
-
Awesome post. You are the MAN!
-
Wonderful. Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it.
-
^^^^^ Sounds good! I mix non-fat cottage cheese and pickle relish.
-
You rock! You look fantastic. Keep up the great work!
-
Awesome! I love DEXA scans. They tell you what you really need to know. Clearly in your case they gave you valuable information. It is so satisfying to know that while the scale is moving slowly, the fat was falling off of you. Keep up the great work! BTW, where did you get the DEXA done?
-
Fantastic job. Take pride in your accomplishments. You deserve it!
-
Those are two great victories! It is awesome when you get into "autopilot mode" and just get up early and don't even think about let alone think of not getting up! Not shaming yourself for the occasional treat...I still have to work on that one. Good for you.
-
Wow. Very impressive. Keep going and be proud of your accomplishments.
-
This ^^^^ Thank you for sharing your story.

I am afraid to throw a tempest into a teapot but here goes. I have read many of you state that it is not possible to gain muscle mass while eating a calorie deficit. There actually is some research that has been done by Dr. Robert Huizenga that has shown it is possible to increase Lean Muscle Mass while eating at a…
