  • South West of England member here! Take a look at my profile and friend request me if you want.
  • I agree with you here - don't get stressed and only record once a week. But you are all great to give this is a go - hope you keep us posted on how it's going. :)
  • Do you do any other exercise? My ankles started hurting when I started bike riding after running for a few years. Hope yours settle down - but good fitting trainers are essential. HTH.
  • Yes - south somerset - you?
  • I have Polar FT7. Chest strap goes around your chest under your sports bra. It takes a bit of getting used to put the calorie burn is excellent. £60 on Amazon.
  • Thanks - but we don't have Walmart in the U.K!!
  • FT7 is great as it has a chest strap. if you want to track distance it doesn't have GPS which is an issue for me but wouldn't be for you if you mostly play tennis.
  • Also Pizza Express do a lighter version of their pizza that has a hole in the middle that they fill with salad. Still fills you up and you don't feel left out.

  • We have an Indian takeaway every Wednesday after I've weighed in! Chicken Tandoori on the bone is the lowest in calories as far as I can tell. I have that most weeks with a naan bread and a couple of poppadoms and usually manage to only go over by a few calories if I haven't exercised that day. We all need treats! Good…

  • I pondered this question for ages when I started running. I have come to the conclusion that there is no right way to breathe but you do have to find a natural rhythm for yourself. I do 2 breaths in and 2 out, but that may not suit you. You have to experiment. Also as you are new to running it will take time to sort this…
  • Depends what you want it for. If you want it mainly for gym work , classes etc then the Polar FT7 that I have is great. I, however wanted one for running outside and this version does not have GPS so although it is great for cals burned and time it does not record distance.............live and learn!!

  • I'm 5ft 11.5 and I agree with this. 13st or around there is a good weight if you want to be able to maintain it.
  • Be careful! You could be disappointed if you weigh yourself everyday and then only log the weight once a week (as you should do). The couple of times I have done this and got excited by a loss and then gone on to log my weight at the right time and been bitterly disappointed. If you can handle the mental torture then fine…
  • You will get loads of advice on this on here - but I am afraid I just add the cals burnt manually from my HRM onto MFP. There is a calculation that you can do to subtract the cals that you would have burnt by just being awake for those 2 hours but tbh I can't be bothered. Others will no doubt have a different opinion on…
  • Hi there I have a P.T and I am in the U.K! I have had her for about 4 or 5 years and although that will sound like a luxury she has not put her prices up in that time and she offers more of a therapy and P.T mixture. I started with her twice a week but reduced to once to save money but also because I was motivated my self…
  • and so it should - you've worked hard for that feeling - right? Congrats on all your hard work - keep it up. Alison x
  • Hi there Have a look at my profile and add me if you would like to. Happy to motivate you if you think I can help. You can do this!! Alison :flowerforyou:
  • I have 100 Running Songs - sooooo cheesy but great. Also love Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, Pink - a huge variety!
  • I have a takeaway once a week after weighing in. Just made my goal tonight tho (like you I 'pig out' on a Wednesday). Not all day just the evening. Hasn't done me too much damage!
  • I have had this but I don't know why. I only use the gym when it's raining or icey so I hope others have some ideas. Must be something to do with your foot positioning I would guess??
  • I have a great P.T too. I understand where you are coming from as it is a bit of an indulgence but so worth it. I have been seeing her for over 4 years now and she feels like part of the family. It is a weekly therapy for me and keeps me sane during a hectic and stressful working week. She also comes with me on races and…
  • MFP underestimates way too much! I have a Polar FT7 and it calculates approx one third lower than MFP. It is accurate tho cos when I run up hill it detects even the slightest increase in my heart rate. Once you get used to it it's fine. Good luck. Best wishes Alison
  • Hi My hubby and I have have just bought ourselves new bikes!! Wish I'd known about this earlier as we live in Somerset. I have a 10 mile race at Longleat so couldn't do this. Do you know of any good sites to find bike routes? Preferably starting with beginner routes!! Have a great ride! Alison
  • Thanks for taking the trouble to post this. Very interesting.
  • I love coffee and tend to drink too much LOL! So what I do is when I am making the coffee I always try to drink a glass of water whilst waiting for the kettle to boil or if someone else is making the coffee I ask for a drink of water. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  • Polar FT7. Very accurate and easy to use.
  • I have the FT7 and I would say based on your stats this burn is about right. Well done!
  • You should reprogramme your info on your profile because at the end of the day you have still lost x amount of weight and you don't want to lose that do you? Once you have done that you can carry on using the new scales. Not sure if that helps - but I need to buy some new scales and this what I am planning to do. Good luck!
