If you understand and feel comfortable doing the math, definitely follow the macros rather than the calories listed on MFP. Nutrition labels can be 10-15% off due to rounding guidelines. Depending on the foods chosen and your calorie goal this can be lots of extra calories! For example, my goal is 2165 and on any given day…

Mom of a 5.5 month old! :)

I'm nursing my son, he's just over 5 months now. I gained 40 lbs during my pregnancy and to date have lost 50lbs. I was not intending to lose to much so quickly because I was worried about my supply but my little guy eats a ton. He's gaining weight appropriately (actually a bit faster than average) so now I'm just trying…

Currently 10 weeks pp exclusively BF. I am 5'5 and 136.5lbs (prepregnancy was 135). I was eating about 1900 cals and was losing an average or 2lbs a week. The calculators all said I should eat around 1700-1800 a day to lose 1lb a week but that clearly wasn't the case. After tracking my food intake and exercise for the last…

I hope to be able to nurse for the year, I know I need to increase my calories and I am trying to. I'm just not used to having this much to play around with. As for what I like to eat, I'm up for anything. Not picky at all. It is just me, the baby and my So. The problem lies in the fact that I am cooking 90% of the time…

I haven't said "yea but" to everyone.... I asked for people to have a look at my diary and give suggestions, I'm not sure if they had looked at it as I am doing quite a few off those things already... Should I be eating 3-4 tbsp of Pb a day instead of 2, should I be eating 100g of avocado instead of 50g, should I be eating…

.... But I did put 1.5tbsp of peanut butter and honey on them and had a piece of dark chocolate. My bedtime snack was like 350cal

My goodness, 735 for one cookie!? I'm going to need to find the time to try to make these

Alright I'll try and find some higher calorie bread when shopping, the bread I currently have is 85 cal a slice (just regular whole wheat bread) and the rice cakes were 80 for 2, I like rice cakes better so I figured the 5 cal wouldn't really make a difference..

Based on my weight loss and food intake I have calculated my caloric needs to be roughly 2900... I am looking for specific suggestions of calorie dense foods/ meals to add as I already incorporate several into my diet and not sure how to keep adding. I was eating around 1700 for about a year so I'm lost with all the extra…

Thank you! Someone who has read my posts and understand where I am coming from.. I am concerned because I am practically at my goal weight but continuing to lose 2 lbs a week eating a calorie deficit that should allow for me to lose 1lb or less as I often snack and don't bother entering it. I will continue to increase my…

Not sure if you saw my post about how much I was eating/ losing... Based on my calculations (which may very well be wrong) I should be consuming nearly 2900 cal a day to maintain, as it is closer to 2lbs a week I'm actually losing (6.8lbs in 23 days) I do not want to get lower than 130 as I feel for me it's a healthy…

Thanks for taking the time to reply, on my frame I feel anything less than 135 looks too thin. 135 was my prepregnancy weight, which I had maintained at for over a year. I was 178 when I had my son and was 143 at the 6 week mark... I'm trying to get ontop of this now as I don't want to get lower than 130 and that is…

I was at the doctors last week for my little ones 2 month check up and he is gaining weight "perfectly". Which is why he was not concerned with my weight loss at that time. My little guy seems content, once a week id say he has an extra long feed where he wants to eat for hours. He is wetting 7+ diapers a day and dirtying…

I just went back through my log for the last month. Since June 4 I have lost 6.8lbs as of yesterday morning so 23 days. 6.8 x 3500 = 23800 calories 23800/ 7= 1034 calories extra each day In those 23 days I logged 42813 calories (I ate more but didn't log so I'll use this number) 42813/ 23= 1861 calorie average 1861+1034 =…

Thank you, the only thing I can think of at the moment is my milk (and the yogurt I make with it) is 2% I'll try the full fat when I get groceries. And I do use alot of egg whites (mostly because I enjoy them more than whole eggs) so I will try using more whole eggs aswell.
-
Thanks for your thoughts, I was just going by what I was maintaining at before pregnancy, I maintained for about a year on approx 1600 cals some days more some days less. So I added ~350 to that as a starting point to figuring out what I should be eating... So with that being said I just went back through my log for the…

Thanks I'll try and add in another snack, I'm currently eating 3 meals 400-500cal and 2 "snacks" 200-350cal
-
Thank you I will look into this!

Thank you I am planning a visit to the Dr this week. I have already spoken to him about it once to which he said he was not worried that it was just because my little one is eating so much, but that was about 10lbs ago. I will ask him about hyperthyroid this time, thanks!

I'm well aware thank you, my post asks for help getting more calories as I am not hungry... I'm feeling satisfied eating the amount I'm currently eating but I am losing weight. I am trying to figure out how much more I need to eat and how to do that while feeling full already...
-
No in not currently using anything to track my walks that was just the calories mfp gave me when I entered it. I was under the impression it over estimates calories but I suppose it could be wrong. Is there a tracker you recommend? As for the cals I manually increased them by ~300 from prepregnancy maintenance as a…
-
Thanks! Im having trouble figuring out how to log everything. As of now I have manually changed my calories to 1950 as I was maintaining my current weight prepregnancy at 1600-1700 cals. I do regularly eat Greek yogurt that I make myself, avocado is usually half a day when I have them, roughly 30-50g of different nuts and…

Prior to getting pregnant I was maintaining on ~1600-1700 cals and am now eating 1900+... I will have a look at your diary aswell, thanks!
-
Thanks so much it's nice to know I'm not alone. I really do not want to stop breastfeeding and I'm determined to get this figured out so I will again try and increase my calories. I'll have a look at your diary to get some ideas.
-
Thanks for your comment, yes I am breastfeeding. At the moment I am not concerned with exercise as im struggling to maintain my weight as is and I don't really have the time right now. I'm trying to figure out how many calories I need and how I can get to that number without feeling "over stuffed".
-
Thanks for the reply! Peanut butter is one of the things I'm using to boost my calories already, I sometimes have 1-2 tbsp a day day and ~50g of other seeds/ nuts
-
Please note, last few days there were not typical food choices (kfc/ pogos) I was eating up what was in the house/ freezer before going shopping today. I usually only eat out 1-2 times a month and make most of my meals
-
Sorry I have opened my diary again, must not have worked the first time. As for talking with my Dr he said he is not concerned because it's probably from my little one eating so much and gaining appropriate weight so I should just try eating more...

I am exclusively BF my 10 week old, I seem to be having the opposite problem as many of you. I am losing too much weight too quickly, sometimes 1+ pound a week. I have lost my pregnancy weight and now continue to lose. I keep increasing my calories but still steadily lose I'm eating roughly 400 calories over what my…
