HAHA! A true shame indeed! Ok, my two cents. I know my goal weight is higher than what it could be, but honestly I have been overweight my whole adult life and I really don't know what my body will be like when I get there. So I picked a goal weight that I KNOW I can achieve, that will increase my quality of life, and that…

I would highly recommend taking some classes at first if possible. The yoga studio that I go to has a TON of different levels available and there are often just a handful of people in the class, which means the instructors are able to make plenty of adjustments. Even when there are more people there, it's nice to have…

I agree about the TJ's Chicken Tikka Masala... Delicious! Also, I really like the Aldi fit n active Southwest Veggie Sandwich. Basically just a Lean Pocket, but they're delicious! And cheap! It's around 270 calories and $2.79 (at least around here) for a box of two.

What helps me the most is any kind of exercise, but especially going for a nice, long walk while listening to music or podcasts that I really like. It totally helps to clear my head!

This definitely brought a few tears to my eyes (which doesn't happen too easily, lol)! Congratulations and THANK YOU for sharing such an amazing and inspiring story!!!

I'm just starting to learn that it's a lot easier to approach weight loss from a very scientific "if I do x, y will happen" approach than the old emotional approach I've unfortunately used in the past. The farther removed I can get from the process emotionally speaking, the easier it is for me to not get bummed out and…

5'7" here, and I wear between a 9.5 and 10 size shoe. My SW was 250, first goal weight is 175, so very similar to the OP! I have been overweight all my adult weight, so I will reassess when I get to 175.

OMG yes!! Fantastic idea!

I have a terrible time trying to figure out what to have for breakfast! Lately, I've found something that actually keeps me full (and I always feel very energized and alert after eating it!) I scramble an egg (sometimes throw a small amount of chorizo that I cook and then freeze) and put it in a toasted tortilla with…

I wish you the very best in each area that you have talked about. Dealing with addiction, especially with close family members, is a very difficult situation. As far as meeting people goes (and in terms of health!), I've really enjoyed small yoga classes. I really like the quiet setting and I've met some wonderful people…

Same here... Feel free to add me if you'd like someone to vent to! I get frustrated when I feel like I work so hard only to see minimal results but I'm trying to view this in terms of more than just pounds lost. Best of luck to you!!

Yeah, pockets would be great but unfortunately a lot of women's exercise apparel doesn't have pockets or there are just tiny pockets that don't really do any good.

As a side note, I would probably prefer not to use a belt... I know my options are pretty limited then, but it's worth a shot :)

And this kills me...

So many fantastic ideas here!!! I think I'm going to try what Nedra said above; as several of you said, the daily numbers are great feedback but I need a way to remove the emotional attachment to them. I'm a data junkie with other aspects of my life, so I'm excited to start looking at weight loss this way, too!

Nice job!! I'm sure it feels great to see the hard work pay off! You look great :)

Congratulations!!! Such an amazing and inspiring story! Good luck with the rest of your journey :)

Hi! I've tried other similar websites in the past, but I too am back after some time away. I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over a year ago but I suspect I've had it since my mid-teens (I'm 26 now). I'd love to get to know some people on here as I think some accountability and motivation would go a long way!

PCOS here too, I'm 26 and working to lose about 75 pounds... Request sent from me too :)

Thank you all for your advice and words of encouragement!! You've snapped me out of this funk that I've been in and I feel like I can move in the right direction armed with some really excellent advice (and a much better attitude!!)

Sorry, didn't realize I was posting on fitness board. Will repost in appropriate category :)
