  • I had gastric sleeve a year ago and have lost about 100 lbs. I have PCOS and hypothyroid. It's possible. Best advice: Just focus on your journey and don't compare your experience to others. It will be harder with PCOS, but it is totally possible. Keep trying -- and keep learning -- until you find what works for you. Good…
  • 2 weeks after sleeve it was still a lot of soup and protein shakes for me. I had issues with full fluid, too, so I had to make everything super runny. I used Silk Protein Nut Milk to water stuff down. It has 10g of protein, so it makes stuff runny without diluting the protein content.
  • I 100% identify with everyone who said anything about losing a significant amount of weight without any waist reduction. I lost about 35 lbs this summer and had DXA scans done before and after to see where the fat was lost. Exactly NONE of it was from my ginormous PCOS belly. It's pretty much the definition of frustration.
  • I'm great. I got an early start today and am thinking of what kind of exercise I should do.
  • I second the notion that BMI is essentially meaningless. I am a grad student with friends doing research in the kinesiology, exercise, and dietary science departments at my school. The fairly universal consensus among most of them and their colleagues is that BMI is antiquated and useless, especially considering that most…
  • I'm not particularly mean, but I do have a very low BS threshold. You can friend me if you like. I am on here almost every day.
  • I have had these before. They aren't pleasant when they're in progress, but you'll feel wonderful afterwards. I don't know what the benefit would be for a healthy person with regular BMs, though. Usually older people and people with IBS (like me) get the most from hydrotherapy.
  • 24 to 18 so far. It took about 3.5 months and 25 lbs. off.
  • I think they're very sexy, but I personally would love to see a couple without freakishly long torsos. It throws off the hourglass. They're still super pretty, though.
  • I didn't say it was bait. I said, "It looks like bait." It doesn't help matters when you alternate honest, well-intended questions with rhetorical, leading questions as if you are coming from a specific food paradigm and suggesting that people somehow defend their positions to you. Even the question in the topic heading…
  • I think no one is responding to this because it looks like bait. The wording of the question is very rhetorical.
  • ^ This. In fact, placebo effect can be very powerful for some people. I would hope that deep down they know prior to purchase that it's not magic. But, hey, it they like it and find it helps them stay on track, then I'm all for it.
  • If you're having issues with getting hungry shortly after breakfast, try eating more fat with your carbs. I have found that very helpful. When it's all carbs I'm hungry again before I even get to work. There are great, healthy ways to do this regardless of diet. For example, one of my favs is just eating a spoonful (or…
  • Can you make your diary public or provide a summary of what you generally eat in a day? What kind of exercise do you do in a week, how often and how long? Are you on any PCOS meds (metformin, spiro, etc.)? Are you TTC? Your diet and the amount/intensity of cardio you do are both very important when dealing with PCOS. EDIT:…
  • I second C25K. I would also like to say that you shouldn't necessarily avoid the HIIT stuff, like Insanity. I do Insanity about 3x a week and alternate it with upper body strength training. I can't do all the movements on the videos (YET) but I can do most of them and the ones I can't I modify. I started C25K after about a…
  • 99% it's from the iron. Try one without iron, like a prenatal vitamin. Iron upsets a lot of people's GIs, myself included.
  • There are A LOT of really good exercise videos on YouTube, believe it or not. For example, you can find most of Jillian Michaels' catalogue on there. Good luck.
  • Maybe you could use Chipotle's calorie calculator? Or does this restaurant also have a similar service on their site? Edit: You were too quick for me. I just read your response. ;)
  • This sounds fab! Can't wait to try it. Thanks!
  • I agree with all of this. I would like to add that fresh-frozen veg (just veg - no sauces or anything fancy) is a great alternative to fresh if you are afraid of spoilage. I love frozen broccoli and squash. I keep some in the freezer at all times for a convenient and low-cal side dish or snack.
  • I agree with all the people who say it could be vitamin deficiency. Try taking vitamin D, magnesium, and B12. You may actually feel a little boost of caffeine free energy as soon as you take them! My vitamin D, magnesium, and B12 were in the toilet last year and you couldn't pry me out of bed for anything. I went to an…
  • I was just about to say Torrid. I love their denim shorts and crops!
  • Hi! I'm don't do anime, but I love WW and Sci Fi. I have aforementioned thick rimmed glasses, but only because I'm blind as a freaking bat. I am currently in a Master's program for Artificial Intelligence. I'm a music geek, too. My assistantship is with our student indie station. If you ever want to talk robots, Wrath of…
  • It's a raw foods vegan diet that places emphasis on 80% of your calories coming from fruit sugars. There's a sort of militant little guy on YouTube who does this and talks a lot about eating 100 bananas for breakfast every day. I certainly can't speak for non-diabetics, but as someone with T2D, that sounds dreadful.
  • ^ You are amazing. A rock star. Single mom too? This man clearly wasn't ready for someone with that much moxie. Congrats on your weight loss. You've lost 41 lbs and won't have to spend another day with someone who clearly didn't treasure you like he should. Look at everything you've already accomplished. If you really step…
  • I remember a week or so ago I gave an unfortunately long-winded & naïve explanation to a silly hypothetical question and my answer got two kinds of responses. One was legit (I had gone sincerely off topic and someone rightly called me out on it; 100% my bad) and the other just went to town bashing me, presumably under the…
  • THIS. All day long. Down with any and all psuedoscience purporting to be the real deal. Psychology is full with BS like this.
  • Simple answer: YES. I check my heart rate multiple times during every cardio workout to make sure my HR is where I want it to be. My HRM lets me know when to take a break or when I need to push a little harder. It's a fitness tool, not just a calorie counter.
  • You seem like a very articulate person and your post is very thoughtfully composed. Because of that I hate to mention this but someone will eventually, so why not me. You're too young to use MFP. In the terms of service it states you have to be at least 18. This is actually for your own protection, as your body has WAY…
