If it's any consolation to you, I had a counselor at Jenny Craig accuse me of not sticking to the plan many years ago. I was soooo pissed...I had been exercising, eating what I was supposed to eat, drinking enough water to fill a built-in pool. I had only lost 1 lb...but guess what? I HAD LOST 17 INCHES in that month! The…

This is GREAT! Kudos. I have been doing this for 19 days and have lost 9 lbs. Are you exercising at all?

The results are in (drum roll heard in background) -- I'm down 8.6 lbs in 18 days. Thrilled! IF works. I love it! START WEIGHT = 217.8 lbs w/e 03/10/17 = 213.4 lbs (down a total of 4.4lbs as of 3/10) w/e 03/17/17 = 211.4 lbs (down a total of 6.4 lbs as of 3/17) w/e 03/24/17 = 209.2 lbs (down a total of 8.6 lbs as of 3/24)

Tomorrow is weigh in day for me....I can't wait!!!

Yes, CICO is a simple concept to comprehend. I like IF because it makes me feel satiated when I eat. Splitting my calories (below TDEE) into two meals makes me feel satisfied and takes away my urge to eat. Also, I have cut down on carbs and am feeling so much better. I am a sucker for anything white (potatoes, pasta, rice,…

I found the videos fascinating! Dee

Thank you for the wonderful explanation. I made the mistake of assuming that everyone was eating at a deficit. For newbies, like me, we don't know that the info on IF is "cow flop."
-
That is correct; however, keep in my mind that fat doesn't start burning until you've fasted for at least 12 hours. I am not a pro -- this is pretty consistent with what I've read.

Google Jason Fung on YouTube. Also, read this: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/49-intermittent-fasting

This is my first weekend doing IF. I ate a bit more than usual last night (Friday night), but STILL manged to drop .4 since yesterday. 18:6 is working for me. Started Monday, 3/6/17 Mon - 03/06/17 = 216.8 lbs Tue - 03/07/17 = 215.4 lbs Wed - 03/08/17 = 214.2 lbs Fri - 03/10/17 = 213.4 lbs (official weigh day. Lost 3.4 lbs…

My friend drinks a bullet coffee every morning and it doesn't seem to breaking her fast. Her feeding time is 12pm-8pm, but she has the coffee around 8am every morning.

Friday is my official "weigh in" day. I have lost 3.4 lbs this week (since I started Monday) doing 18:6. Can't wait to see what NEXT Friday brings... Started Monday, 3/6/17 03/06/17 = 216.8 lbs 03/07/17 = 215.4 lbs 03/08/17 = 214.2 lbs 03/10/17 = 213.4 lbs (official weigh day. Lost 3.4 lbs this "week") Dee

Congrats!!!

That's a darn good question. I also have a post I'd like to edit, but I think there is a one-hour window for that. They should have an option for deleting. If you find it, can you please share with us? Thanks! Dee

I am only on Day 4 of 18:6 daily ( I started this past Monday ). My energy level has been PHENOMENAL...I can't get over it!
-
I am in my first week, and it has been going well. I am on 18:6 and have been able to stay within the guidelines. 3 lbs. down...today is the first day the scale hasn't moved, but I don't want to lose weight every day...so, my body is normalizing. The stomach growling can be quite comical, but I only have it during the last…

Excellent points....it relates to the adage, "Eat More to Weigh Less" (good name for a book...lol ;)

If anyone is adding friends, please add me! I want to surround myself with people who are doing intermittent fasting. THANK YOU!
-
For me, it gets easier by the meal, and I hope it does for you, too! ;)

Fasting (18:6) is working well for me. I feel satsified, no cravings. There is a certain liberation (feeling of control) with eating in a certain block of time. Same amount of calories, just in a different format. Love it! Started Monday, 3/6/17 03/06/17 = 216.8 lbs 03/07/17 = 215.4 lbs 03/08/17 = 214.2 lbs Dee

I do not believe IF to be superior -- I believe it to work for me, where all other programs (too many to name) were too loose and I failed (due to MY not being able to adhere). This is something I can follow...and because my meals are condensed into a small window, I feel satsified, even though eating the same things when…

I am witnessing firsthand accounts where A1C has improved significantly as well as moderate weight loss, results they couldn't get from straight calorie counting. I picked 16:8 after reading tons of articles and books by Fung, Valardy, etc.
-
I am following 16:8, and will friend you! I am looking for IF friends as well! Please feel free to add me,too!
-
The several people that I know do it as a lifestyle. They always use 16:8; however, if they do not want to lose any more weight, they just up their calories. Don't know if this helps you...

I do not believe that statement to be true. The only thing I can agree with is that if you consume 1300 calories at once or over time, you will have consumed 1,300 calories. It's how your body REACTS to consuming 1,300 calories that matters. Most people will lose weight on 1,300 calories/day, even without exercise, if they…

Thank you for this. I just joined.

Thanks for the "heads up." No pun intended. ;)

How many calories is everybody affording themselves each day? I know the point of IF is to not count calories/log, but left to my own devices, I'd be eating 3,000 calories per day. I am working around 1200 calories per day for feed time of 12pm-8pm. This is my second day, and, amazingly, I AM STILL ALIVE! :)
