  • Starting weight on 2/23 172 pounds Current weight 165 Total weight loss is 7 pounds I lost 4 pounds the first week, 4 pounds the second week and I've gained a pound and have stayed there for two weeks now. My goal is 150 by Memorial Day and 140 by July. What I'm really motivated by is the inch and a half I lost around the…
  • Just need to vent... Last Saturday I went to the gym but forget my iPod (I NEED music to move - so this was not good). Then, I got on the scale and saw that I gained a pound. I have created a plan every evening and ate that plan everyday - so just felt defeated. And even though I know better, I blew my plans this week. I…

  • Hit a bump in the road....."sigh" Starting Weight - 172 Last week - 164 This week (3/15) - 165 My goal is 150 by Memorial Day and 140 by July.
  • Now that's a great idea! Thanks!
  • I also have a problem - just like Lacy. I gained a pound this week. :noway: Unlike Lacy, I am able to stay away from the bad dinner foods, but I am grazing a little bit more than I should. So, here's my plan - I'm going to log in my foods the night before and print out the plan. That way I will have something visually to…
  • I am also a night "grazer" as well. To try to get past this, I try to eat something like an apple before I leave work. That way my hunger is tamed before I get home. The tricky part for me is cooking dinner so I grab the carrots and have them close by - that way I can crunch, crunch, crunch while I cook. It's been helping…
  • Thanks Cara! Your honesty is hitting me after a particularly bad day for me and I have to tell your comments helped to remotivate me. I struggled with the evil MandM peanuts today. I swear they need to create a support group for people like me who can't keep away from the MandMs! I logged all three packs in today - but I…

  • I can also relate - we didn't have much money either. But the funny thing was, we ate a lot of fatty foods (we call them "comfort" foods). Living in Lancaster, PA I am used to potpie (big, thick noodles with a chicken like gravy), mashed potatoes with gravy, meatloaf with gravy,...etc. You get the message. I guess my…
  • Saturday Weigh-In Results: Starting Weight - 172 Weigh in on Saturday - 164 Total lost - 8 pounds Goal for Memorial day is 150 Goal for July is 140 Woohoo! I'm on my way! This weigh in may be a little different - my family and I are proud survivors of the dreaded stomach flu. Believe it or not, I was only down for two…
  • I also started in mid/end February. I'll join you in that "new beginning" because the chocolate chip cookies were yelling very loudly today. So here's the deal, you kick me in the butt when the cookies are yelling and I'll return the favor when you have a bad day too. Now, if someone could just kick my butt out of…
  • There was a temptation for money by way of food on the last season and Jillian freaked out on the contestants who went for the money - I think she said something like "...if you want money, go home and earn it.... you're here to lose weight!" That show came to mind as I watched poor Kelly eating and almost getting sick! I…
  • One of those instant cups of oatmeal (the apple kind) 1 banana I got a lot of great ideas from the posts here - thanks!
  • It's so great seeing everyone's progress so far! I weighed in on Saturday (March 1st) - Starting weight - 172 Last weigh-in - 168 I feel so jazzed now that I can see and feel that pounds are starting to move off of my body that I have now made it my priority to get up one hour earlier each day and run/walk. Since today was…
  • Hi everyone! I weighed in on Saturday and lost 4 pounds! Starting weight - 172 Saturday - 168 The exercise is the tricky part for me so I'm going to try getting up early on Tuesday and Thursday morning for a cardio workout. I hope that helps! We have friends coming in from Alaska for the week and I'm really nervous! There…
  • I keep smiling! Seriously - the people who try to bring me down cannot do so because I won't allow it! Surround yourself with people who support you - like on this site! You can do it! I know you can do it because you created a plan and you're acting on the plan! And for those girls at work - well, there's a lot of…
  • I have a couple of personal favorites: 1. Everyday is the first day of the rest of our lives. 2. I can start my day over anytime I want to!
  • Sorry to hear about your position... I hope everything works out for you. For me, your story just reminds me that this area of comfort and security we create for ourselves is a lot more fragile than we think. I've been struggling with the ups and downs of life and I think that's what has led to my weight control problems.…
  • Good for you! I also struggle with those comfort foods - and growing up in Amish country has given my quite a taste for things like sausage, mashed potatoes with gravy and chicken casseroles with stuffing. I find that when I get sick or low, I crave those foods more than ever! Thanks for sharing your success story - I'm…
  • The answers are very helpful to a newbie like me... but I have a question: What should I eat in order to gain back my exercise calories? I usually gravitate towards carbs and cheese (some people have trouble with chocolate, I have trouble with CHEESE!) My gym recommends a recovery shake after a work out - it's filled with…
  • My goodness! I can't believe the nerve of that lady! Corporate will surely take care of you - if not, call Jared (the guy who lost weight eating at Subway)... Better yet, call the local news channel - the news channel in my area has an "on your side" segment where they show how some people and companies mistreat their…
  • Hi all! I'm new to this board - joined last week at 172 with a goal of 150. I've done really well with my diet this week, but because of my work schedule my workouts are limited to weekends - so I'm really psyched to get to the gym tomorrow! My mom, sister and I are planning a trip this summer and I really want to get some…
  • Something I try to do is plan out my diet the day before - that way I can see ahead of time where I am with fat, protein, calories, sodium and carbohydrates. I also noticed that I'm not negotiating with myself as much as I used to - I don't eat that doughnut and think "...well, I'll just eat less for dinner...". Now, I…
  • I really like the Mary Kay Time Wise collection! I also use their foundation and color - I love how it lasts! Just my two-cents!:flowerforyou:
  • I'm in! I only started MFP on Saturday, so I have a few more days until my first weigh-in. But, my starting weight on Saturday was 172 - here's hoping for a few pounds less on Saturday! And I would love to get to the gym more often, but my work and kids.... you know. So, here's my alternate plan: cardio 5 times a week, gym…
  • I've had the same problem for the past two days - but my problem is the "faculty room"! Today, they brought in those little decorative cookies that are 130 calories each! Yikes! I try like heck to avoid the faculty room, but since I have a student teacher I feel like I need to be more sociable. So the plan for tomorrow is:…
  • Been there, done that - but I think what helps me to know is that I did do that, where before I didn't really think too much about how much I was eating in a day. So in there somewhere I believe there is progress. One day at a time! Good luck!
  • While watching "The Biggest Loser" I notice that most contestants experience a similar problem with weight loss. (I love that show!)
  • I read somewhere that after your body adjusts to your new caloric intake that your metabolism seems to plateau. The recommendation I read was to readjust your caloric intake so that it's about 100 calories less, but only do this after about 4 weeks of no weight loss. Good luck!
  • I found some cd's at my local fitness store - I think there is an Oxygen series that actually has songs that gradually get faster and maintain beat rates and then slow down toward the end (to allow for cool down). I have to say, my favorite music right now are the playlists I create on iTunes. I love to use the shuffle…
  • I am so grateful to have found this site! It seems to have everything I need at one place to pull my self back together. Yahoo! No more searching this site for this and that site for that! I'm glad to be a member of this group! Let's get started! javascript:add_smiley('smile','topic_body')
