BTW, I also have the same watch...love it. If you have a PPT account I'd be happy for another friend over there 8) Training load is Polar's way of calculating how hard you worked. 300 is a fairly hard workout. The rapid HR recovery after running is the most important thing.

There is only one thing the HR formula of 220 - Age will tell you and that's a number that's 220 less your age. Its an entirely worthless formula. I'd say it means nothing but as you're seeing it actually means less than nothing as its making your use of an HRM meaningless. The challenge is finding your true HR max.…

While a spring scale probably does wear out over time and change slightly in how it reports weight, it wouldn't have changed much in the time between your first and latest weighing. If anything its the best measure of how much you've lost in that time. Another scale may give you an accurate weight but it wouldn't tell you…

You should eat food, not too much, and mostly plants.

So you're losing weight now, on Paleo, while also eating a calorie surplus?
-
If your overall fitness level is high and you've been running a long time you could probably do it. I actually did that a few weeks ago after only 4 weeks of training. However! I've been running for years and my body has developed the bone strength and base fitness to do it. That said, I was very concerned with injuring…

Then you only think you're eating a deficit. No two people are the same and its hardly an exact science. Your body may burn less than you think and your food may be higher calories than you realize. Either way, you can't break physics. If you consume less fuel than your body needs to operate, it will burn fat to generate…

Paleo works because it will cause a calorie deficit. If you enjoy eating the way Paleo demands, then do it. If you don't, then don't. But since weight loss is about changing your entire lifestyle if you don't think you'll stick with Paleo for the rest of your life, don't bother.

Bigger cup! :drinker:

I looked for a long time to find a protein bar that was not a million calories. I was looking in the wrong place. I've been eating Greek yogurt for the past 4 or 5 weeks and love that I can get 12g of protein for 130 calories.

Eat less, exercise more.

I don't track my food for fun. I track it to be healthy. The task is boring but the results aren't.

Nothing at all wrong with coffee and I would never cut out the milk/creamer. Great source of calcium! I drink coffee daily but I generally only have a tall cappuccino and nothing else. That's just part of my breakfast. They can't figure out if its good or bad for you but I'd say since we've been consuming it for as long as…

btw, just based on that article's correlation of diet soda consumption to obesity makes me doubt any of the rest of it. Correlation does not equal causation and without looking at why people drinking diet tended to be overweight more often than the regular soda drinkers makes that a worthless scare statistic. It could very…

I didn't really need to read any studies to make the decision. I switched to diet originally to cut out the worthless calories. Then I realized a can of diet soda has an ingredient list as long as my arm and its a list of ingredients my body does nothing but have to filter out at best. Do I think they were slowly killing…

No, I'll get around to it eventually. I have a Polar RC3 GPS watch for my training. Fitbit just comes along for the ride so I don't care if its dead on. 8)

I started running about 5 years ago now and I didn't know about C25K or run/walk ideas. I just ran as far as I could and then stopped. I was really out of shape. I'd say the first 2 weeks I probably did 2 or 3 miles total running 3 or 4 times a week. After 5 weeks I ran a 5k. That said, the C25K is a great training…

Its a great little motivator if you like seeing numbers go up. I had an ultra and washed it (I wonder how many clean, broken ultras are out there 8) ) and recently replaced it with a One which I like a little better design wise. Its better built. I keep it with me when I run and I've discovered while its not 100% accurate…

Hmm, I'd say most people are here because they spent too much of their lives eating 'in the red' as it were. If you ate too much, eat less tomorrow. It'll be green. Eat too much...even a little too much, its red. Makes sense to me!

I love Olive Oil for most cooking but sometimes I don't want the flavor. You should try Grapeseed Oil when you cook your eggs. Very similar nutritional properties and it has a neutral flavor. Sometimes olive oil just doesn't seem appropriate for the cooking application but I do use it for most of my cooking! Not a fan of…

I'll bite since this is essentially what I now have in my profile (along with many other things...) The guys who said it means "not fat" have got it right. I'm fit. I eat well and run a lot. 90% of the girls who contacted me were overweight. Not sure why its so shameful to some women here that a man would want to be with…

I actually thought the episode was great. So far, S3 has been stronger to me than S2. The opener can't beat Discord but I've really enjoyed every S3 episode a lot.

I agree with rybo, you don't need to eat anything (assuming you didn't fast the day before). But if you want to eat something...well you can eat pretty much anything. Just keep it light.
-
I doubt anyone ever got fat eating too many fruits and vegetables.

Both are Polar so they'll both be great HRMs. Nothing wrong with getting an HRM...Polar has great training tools and if nothing else, its another way to track your progres.

Insanity is really very difficult. However Shaun T makes his videos incredibly motivating. I always recommend them and would just say, don't feel like you have to keep up, especially at the beginning. I think it would even be good to do the first half (which is easier) and then after the 'rest week' do the first half…

So I wonder if this study was done by someone sitting at a stop light waiting for a big group of runners in a race to clear out so they could get to the McDonald's down the road.

You have to listen to your body and respect the weather when you're doing out door activities, especially running. Winter is hard if you don't have a lot of dreadmill access so take this opportunity to do other activities! When the spring hits then you can hit the road again if its something you really want to do. 8)

I always order a tall cappuccino when I go in. All of their crazy lattes are tasty but just really desserts in a cup! Lattes are good too but I prefer cappuccinos since they're lighter on the milk.
