  • I get up , use the toilet, strip and turn on the shower. I weigh after stripping and while waiting for the shower to heat up, it only takes a minute and that's all I need.
  • I have a folding cycle and I use it when email is slow or I'm checking my texts. Very portable and around $30 US. It's not going to replace regular exercise and it's not strenuous, but it gets a little movement going and burns a calorie here and there.
  • If you drink alcohol but not anything carbonated, try just doing shots (of rum) and drink water between shots. This has the pleasant side effect of helping your hangover and keeping you hydrated through the night.
  • Posting because I wear layers, but my cheeks got chapped in the 5 F weather this weekend. I am looking at a Balaclava hood with lower face mask. But I'm not committed to any brand so far.
  • I override the calories, for example if I put in 20 minutes jogging, it'll automatically figure up 200-ish calories. Before I press the "add" button, I move the cursor into the calorie total and I press delete. MFP still wants a number there, so I'll change it to 20 or so, but that way the system isn't telling me I had an…
  • 20 minutes before work  Was hoping to do 30 but my arches were killing.
  • I lost 40-ish pounds while I was on Depo Provera. Then I got off it and gained weight over the last year, I blame the mood swings and the cravings that come with. But really I blame myself, not the drug, I'm the one who shoveled sugar into my mouth during the crazy hormone times.
  • How do you feel about crock pot meals? You can assemble a bunch at once, throw them in the freezer, and pull them out as needed. You can adjust your eaten portion, have it with brown rice while the others eat with white, or whatever. Here's a blog a friend linked to me yesterday, this page has 10 recipes but if you look on…
  • Is every day like today? My today is different from yesterday, or the day before. I suppose if every day were like last Thursday, I would be XXX pounds in 5 weeks, but Friday I had some pizza and Saturday my gym was swarmed by children meeting Santa, so I'm thinking I won't.
  • Young people wrestling is a Big Thing in my town. I feel so, so sorry for those kids, and avoid it as much as I am able. I remember a shrimpy little guy in my high school class complaining about how he'd eaten McDonald's fries two days before and he weighed in a half pound over due to water retention. I always knew when a…
  • On another forum I frequent, a poster from Britain asked why the Americans didn't butter their sandwiches. People started talking about butter/peanut butter/jelly sandwiches, butter under mayo, etc. Haven't tried it myself yet, but I'd bet if that becomes a "thing" in the US, the dairy industry will be very happy.
  • You had a baby in September, are you breastfeeding? Your hormones could have an affect on it, and if breastfeeding you should eat a little more for the milk. If you aren't, that's fine, I just know that breastfeeding affected my post-pregnancy loss.
  • I'm actually pretty disappointed in my hip bones now, they look weird on me. I've always been able to see my collar bones. I know I'm too skinny when my ribs are visible (how I'm built, not knocking anyone else). I am very excited to be able to actually see muscle definition in my legs and arms. I can flex my legs and see…
  • 5'6" and 158-160. I've been bouncing in that same two pound range for two months now. My daily goal is 1600 calories, but as it's the holidays I have been coming in higher than that probably twice a week, though I also don't eat back my exercise calories; that's probably why I'm maintaining (cancelling each other out...for…
  • I am shorter than my 3 bio sisters, however we are mostly built the same: thinner bone structure than our Norwegian-British cousins, stockier than our French-Portuguese cousins. Yes I compare myself to my cousins, lol. Recently I visited my French-Portuguese gramma and she actually compared me (favorably) to my…
  • It snowed 18 inches here last week and has been continuously in the negative-degrees-Fahrenheit ever since. Trust me, I know your pain! Running in the outdoors, once a joy to me as I chased the runner's high, is no longer an option unless I want to turn my ankle and freeze to death on the way home. What I've worked out so…
  • I don't anymore, actually I've been using the tape measure a lot lately, but when I was training for a half marathon I'd weigh before and after my runs. This was so I could see how much I sweat, and adjust my water intake accordingly so the day of the race I knew how much to drink to keep myself hydrated and going.…
  • You increased your calories 2 days ago. Give your body a week or more to adjust to the new intake.
  • BMR is what you need to stay alive in a coma. You want to eat over that amount provided you are doing anything more than lying in a bed all day. Your posted numbers for fat loss calories are about 20% less than your TDEE calories, which is about right. So, the amount you want to aim to eat in a day is 1970. If you…
  • Water. When I drink 10+ cups of water a day, I lose weight. If I drink other things instead, or just dehydrate myself, I don't see the loss on the scale that I do when drinking water.
  • A few years ago my roommate made a delicious, all organic, vegan dish. She did not wash the produce first because "it's organic, there's no nasty chemicals on there to wash off." Apparently she did not know how organic food is fertilized, or didn't think about other people's nasty hands at the grocery store. I lost 6…
  • I will just stand in the corner by Sjenny and nod vigorously.
  • Wonder if she's mis-estimating her burned calories and overeating those?
  • I may have held pretty steady in the weight department over the last month, but in the last 30 days I lost a half inch in the waist, calves and on my thighs. Everything else held steady. It ain't much but it's progress, even if I didn't really reach my November goals (though I did shave off 7 seconds from my PR 5K…
  • Are you vegetarian? I will admit I would be tempted to eat a lot of meat and potatoes or rice, with eggs and dairy products, if I were allergic to a variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Soooo Helenuh...it's two years later, how'd the 30 pounds/30 days go? Seriously, I hope you were able to find a healthy medium. 2 years is a good amount of time to put in some healthy habits. I see you haven't deleted your profile and hope that means you haven't given up on a healthier lifestyle, even if you had to…
  • Everyone says 'talk to a doctor' and I can only agree. BTW, on "once a day, twice a day, be NORMAL" well, my body's "normal" schedule is about twice a week. I've discussed with my doctor, his nurse, and a couple of past doctors. They all agree that so long as I am not constipated or in pain, and since I don't take the…
  • Wow busy woman! Best of luck in your endeavors!
