  • You've lost 9 kg in 3 weeks and you're complaining?? Obese people are recommended to lose 1 kg/ week for safe and healthy loss. How long has this "stall" been, like 4 hours? Keep plugging along and if there's no change in, say, 4 weeks, that's when there's a plateau.
  • 11/22/13: 158.4 WOO! Zumba on Monday and Wednesday, treadmill running on Tuesday and Thursday. Hoping to take the kids swimming tonight, but there are other plans occurring that may interfere. Next week: Zumba on Monday, final swim lesson/treadmill run on Tuesday. Gym is closed Wednesday afternoon so that depends on…
  • I wouldn't cut straight to 1200, personally. It'll be a shock, if you are used to eating a lot more than that. Count out, say, 1700 for a couple days, then 1600, 1500 et al. You may find you are meeting your goals without getting as low as 1200. My "tricks", involve drinking a lot of water (I like 10 cups a day), two daily…
  • I just listen to a techno station, the pace stays quick regardless of what the song is.
  • I rarely have even one meal that's "clean". But I've lost 50-some pounds this year, mostly fat, not lost my nails or much of my hair, and my blood tests show great improvement; so I guess I'm doing OK.
  • And, I'm 5'6", started at 210 now at 159-160ish, most lost at 1500-1600 cal/day, eating back some exercise. 1200 is not necessary for weight loss.
  • OH I wish it was that easy! I haven't eaten potato chips (nor missed them) in quite a few months. Cookies (biscuits for you?) have never tempted me; I’m lucky that way, they aren’t the reason I became fat. (Pie on the other hand…good thing that’s a holiday-only food.) I only drink diet soda, regular is too sweet for me,…
  • But what about brinner?? What does that do to my day??
  • Hot coffee.
  • Nobody has a thigh gap after puberty. Well, maybe a couple people. But most of us don't. We are talking about the thighs that don't touch when your knees are together, right? If you want to "tighten up" then the best way to do that would probably be to eat at maintenance and lift weights, do squats, and generally just firm…
  • Most likely if you do some lifting it will firm up the muscles under there, the bat wings will go away because you'll have solid muscle holding things in place.
  • A lot of women have a hard time losing while breastfeeding. Finding the right number of calories to eat while losing weight while still eating enough to produce enough/quality milk can be a delicate balance. What's worked for me was eating as I liked, working out/getting stronger, and then after the son was weaned I…
  • I am 160 today. Kinda bummed. I ran during swim lessons both Tues. and Thursday this week, and on Monday I ran a mile/ walked a mile during the daughter's dance class. Wednesday I also went to Zumba for the first time since August. So, I am telling myself that suddenly doing all this activity again after some sickness and…
  • I'm 5'6" and started at 210 lbs. I'm younger than you, but spend half the time at the gym (good work! I am just too busy to fit in an hour and a half in a stretch). I've lost most of my weight eating 1500-1600 calories/day. I also eat back some or all of my exercise calories (depending on how sure I am on the accuracy of…
  • Depends on how much you have to lose overall. The weight loss will slow down as you get closer to a healthy body weight.
  • You will, of course, share the recipe?:flowerforyou:
  • What are your stats? Age, height, current weight, goal weight?
  • I have a 5k that morning. We are also making our own core family dinner, instead of being with the extendeds; this could be good or bad, depending on if I feel I have to finish everything! But at least I'll have complete control on what's on the table, and won't have anyone suggesting I get another helping of something I…
  • Oh how funny! I am 3 inches shorter than you, my measurements are 36-31-39 right now. Currently around 159, goal is 140 ish. I carry a lot of fat in my thighs though.
  • MFP can tell you your calorie goals--aim for .5-1 pound lost per week. Then fill up your diary, so people who know can see it. If still maintaining after 3-4 weeks, come on back.
  • Did you take measurements or is it all a visual thing?
  • The day I ran a half marathon, then ate a bunch of food (not as much as I burned running), I gained 9 pounds. It was gone in 4 or 5 days.
  • Nobody told me. I knew. Family tells me how thin I look now, and how great, but they never use the F word on my previous physique. What surprises me is how shocked they are when I say how much I've lost/how much I used to weigh. Apparently weighing over 200 pounds means I should have looked incredibly heavy, size 22W, I…
  • I drink water and black coffee because it's free. When I want to indulge, I drink diet sodas (a few times a week) and skinny lattes (one or two a month). Randomly I drink the full calorie stuff, but it's very rare and always on a "I just don't care anymore!" day, aka PMS. It hasn't been worth it yet...tastes, to me, about…
  • I use the microwaveable lunches on work days, about as cheap as brown bagging it. Sometimes they are on an extremely good sale too, and I'll stock up the freezer. I second the "soup" suggestions, and throw in "chili" too. I buy frozen veggies in $1 bags at the grocery; they are good on their own with a bit of butter, or…
  • Stir fry (homemade) is a huge go-to meal for me, both lunch and supper. I get a variety of veg with a lean protein. I eat it with white rice, brown rice, rice noodles, etc. I also put rice in my soup and use it as filler in my tacos (sometimes). Rice is fantastic in many ways, white or brown I'm not ricest. :flowerforyou:…
  • It may depend on how long the pasta is cooked, won't it continue to gain water weight as it sits longer in the water? To be honest I've always gone with the raw weight when making my recipes.
  • Everybody's going to have a different opinion on this, but my thoughts? Eat part of the exercise calories (like half) but not all, because it's possible there's a miscalculation somewhere. Sometimes a website like this one, which calculates on averages, overcalculates what you've burned.
  • Today I'm still at 159. No biggie, and a bit of an accomplishment considering the tasty candy treats leftover from the trick or treaters last week. I ran on the treadmill last night and made it back downstairs to see the end of my daughter's swimming lesson. Today I found a Thanksgiving 5k in my area and signed up for it.…
  • I started with something I found manageable in my daily life. Then I slowly changed, little things, on a weekly or monthly basis. I didn't try to do all the changes at once. That's how I stick to it. Though I will admit I haven't stuck to my calories too well the last month or so, at least I'm active, still following the…
