  • Gotta have some vegetables :-)
  • What really happened is you decided you were not in the mood for ice cream. No big deal. I often decide against what I initially thought I wanted. Sometimes I see the calorie count and decide I don't want the thing that badly. Like another person commented, you are over-thinking this. I got a little out of control last…
  • coffee, water, whiskey, and beer. Yep, that's pretty much what I drink.
  • .5 pounds a week equals 2 pounds a month. This equals 24 pounds a year. Not too shabby. What's the hurry?
  • Sounds to me like the OP has maintenance down. Everyone is different and everyone has different goals. If you are happy then be happy. No need to feel any pressure to recomp, or lift heavy, or cardio, or whatever someone else is doing. I lost 70 pounds and have maintained for about three years. Last winter I went over my…
  • It's all about the routine now. Think of exercise along the same vein as brushing your teeth. It's just something you need to do to maintain your health.

  • As long as you are still dropping weight there is no problem. Just keep doing what you are doing. Don't forget to update your mfp as you lose weight. As the weight goes down so does the amount of calories you can consume and continue to lose. Sucks I know but that's how it works
  • Where do you work? In an office? Do they have stairs where you work? You can walk some stairs in the air conditioning on your breaks. Bottom line if you want to get moving more you will find a way.
  • Just realize you wont sustain that rate of loss. So long as the scale goes down you are doing it right. Good job. Keep going.
  • Best advice ever.

  • Weight loss is a sprint. Maintenance is a marathon.
  • Set a weight range, not a static weight. I have a 5 pound range. Go over I need to tighten up my logging. Go below I need to up my intake. It's not unusual for my weight to fluctuate after a lot of sodium. I also can gain a pound or three over night if I change up my workouts, or go particularly hard. So, to answer your…
  • Nope. If she doesn't need to get up I just let her sleep as long as she wants.
  • I liked the pancreas pic. That's why I made the comment that I did. Hmm maybe it needs brought to this page......
  • I lost 70 pounds simply county calories. I did not avoid any foods in particular. If it is what I want and fits in my calories for the day I eat it. The important thing is to consider what you are doing. Dieting is restrictive and not sustainable. Changing your eating habits and lifestyle is what you should be aiming for.…
  • The only benefit of weighing before and after a workout is to calculate how much you sweat. This, of course is done for hydration purposes. A gallon of water weights 8.34. pounds. Round to 8 for ease of calculation. So, if you lost 2 pounds during exercise you sweated about 1/4 gallon, or one quart. So, you should probably…
  • Well, actually it is the cyst that is full of pus, not mucus. But at least you are giving it a try. Nice pic by the way.
  • Prior to this thread I never heard of "Dr" Sabi. Firstly he WAS NOT a doctor. Next he had no formal training of ANY KIND. He put together some golbildygook and sold it to people who were looking for something. As to diabetes: This is caused by a failure of the pancreas to supply sufficient insulin to process the sugars we…
  • The only cure for obesity is to eat less and move more. Pills potions and surgeries only (some believe) assist in this binary formula.

  • It's best to just pick a system and go with it. Keep it the same for a few months (unless it results in drastic unwanted changes) and then re-assess. If it is working don't mess with it. If it's not working adjust accordingly. I have my app set at sedentary. I do not log strength training. I do log cardio. I try not to eat…
  • You are not going bald, you are becoming more aerodynamic.

  • The best exercise for weight loss is exercising your discipline and maintaining a calorie deficit. Cardio burns a lot of calories, which will get you in better condition and allow you to eat more. Weight training builds/retains muscle which will cause you to lose a higher percentage of fat.
  • You may want to consult with your doctor. If he/she is ok with exercise go ahead and walk, or do whatever you can. Just like anyone else though, don't over do it. If you are making gains, even small ones, you are winning.

  • Thanks for the kind responses. I was kinda afraid I would get flamed for my post. And yes, I understand some banging, and sometimes things go wrong and you have to dump the weight. There are three different guys who slam the weights down on every lift. Be it free weights or machine. What really got me wondering is these…
  • It takes discipline. You have to be willing to forego short term pleasure for long term benefit. You need to have the discipline to stay within your caloric goals while finding ways to insert those pleasures that keep you satisfied. For example I just ate a piece of chocolate. It was a very high quality piece of dark…
  • I had a ganglion cyst on my ankle several years ago. It didn't really cause any problems. I was just kind of there. I had it removed. Ended up with a couple stitches and was fine in a week. Hope this helps.
  • Let the scale be your guide. When I was losing It seemed like forever before I looked different. I lost 70 pounds total, but probably didn't see a difference the first 40 pounds. Other people seemed to notice before I did. Keep doing good things for your body and let the weight come off. When your clothes are all too large…
  • I lost 70 pounds. I never saw myself as fat so when I looked in the mirror I always saw myself at the weight I am. I don't know if that makes sense or not. I guess my body image was different than yours, and probably a bigger problem because I had no desire to lose weight for the longest time. The issue I have is with…
  • Keep making those small steps. You've made huge progress so far, the sky is the limit. You got this..
  • Finally got some decent running weather this weekend. I don't run unless it is at least 50 F. I know you can run in the cold, but I don't. Friday I did one of my 5K routes through town because I knew my regular running track would be too wet. Yesterday I went to my regular running track and it was closed, most likely due…
