  • Here is my post from this thread - http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10456479/protein-bar-questions/p1 I do want to make an addendum to it since I've tried the Kirkland bars after I wrote that post. I definitely like them for taste and numbers, love them for the price. I'll probably make these my go-to absent…
  • Personally, I use any of their curry sauces to simmer whatever meat I happen to have on hand, which tends to be chicken, shrimp, or fish. For the cookie butter, I use it by inserting my finger into the jar, getting a glob to stick, then licking said cookie butter off my finger.
  • To me, the OP started at the pinnacle. American Flatbread is far and away my favorite pizza from the freezer.
  • My every 4 days (give or take) trip to TJ's includes 2 bag of their baby spinach and bananas. Sometimes the cashier will comment on how "healthy" my shopping choices were. I don't let him or her know that next time will very likely include speculoos cookie butter. Someone upthread commented that their cheese was well…
  • Yes, it's a no-brainer to me. Here in the US, the shots are typically free and I can get it done in 5 minutes while I'm shopping at CVS or Walgreens. After it's done, I have some coverage for the flu, which is most certainly preferable to no coverage.
  • There is an entry under cardio for strength training. For me, it provides a reasonable looking number, based on the fit analysis I do on expected weight vs actual weight. To make sure I avoid overestimating, I log several entries for this to measure the first set to last set, this so I don't include time setting up and…
  • Two days out now and no one's mentioned Civ 6? Well I will, that's exactly what I'm currently playing. All day, all night....
  • I just happened to buy some apple cider vinegar for the first time ever today. Not for anything dietary though, I have a bunch of fruit flies now, and I read online that apple cider vinegar + piece of fruit + dish washing liquid would work wonders. After a couple of hours so far, it seems to be working pretty well.
  • Durian is the most polarizing food I know of. The people that I know that are pro-durian think it's the best thing ever. Everybody else is disgusted. I'm in the latter camp, and I like everything (else).
  • Yeah, anything that starts off "I'm not a [whatever it is speaker says s/he is not] BUT..." means they most certainly are that thing, whether that's racist, sexist, rude, whatever. As for this being reportable to HR, absolutely in the US it is. The most likely scenario is that HR would have a chat and make his life…
  • Have you ever looked back a year and said "I can't believe a year has passed already"? That's how it is with weight loss as well. When I lost 150 pounds (I've since gained back 80 but am dealing with that now, not that it's relevant for this post) I couldn't believe that it happened but this simple formula was proven true:…
  • I've been reading a lot lately about the importance of milk and meatballs. My question is - how much milk? How many meatballs?
  • Great advice. Instead of asking the restaurant staff how many calories are in a meal, just ask how many grams of protein, fat and carbs there are. That's much easier info to get from them.
  • I have a Walgreens a block away and buy tons of groceries from there, it never occurred to me that was "whacked".
  • The only thing that came to my mind is Quest chips. 22g protein in 130 calories is fairly respectable. Unfortunately, the flavor of the chips is not. Unlike the better sweet tasting bars, which can be an acceptable substitute for a candy bar, these chips are nowhere near being able to similarly pass for a good bag of…
  • I've tried pretty much every brand I've ever seen for protein bars. Quest is rather average, maybe a notch above average. For that particular brand, Cookies & Cream is my preference. MP Combat Crunch is by far #1 for me. Cinnamon Twist, Chocolate Cake, and Chocolate Peanut Butter are notable. I recently tried the brand B…
  • I've not paid much attention to Gifford's, in fact I don't even recall seeing that brand before but when I looked up their locator I see it's available all around me. I do love me some peanut butter [name of any dessert] so I'll get this when I see it.
  • I don't always, but in my experience I'm a heckuva lot more compliant to dietary goals when I do pre-log. If I don't pre-log, when lunchtime hits I'm far more likely to hit up the local pizza joint when I get a Tweet letting me know their special slice of the day happens to be my favorite than if I've pre-logged my turkey…
  • Oh boy do I know that feeling. I've grown to HATE the Big & Tall Men's stores. Everything is so expensive and of lesser quality. I definitely considered it my 2nd biggest NSV (most significant being able to buckle the seat belt on a plane without an extender). I actually hate shopping but I do remember the details of being…
  • I've been wary of Yuengling's ice cream because I don't care for their beer at all. Is the only commonality with the beer the name? If so I might pick up a quart next time they're on sale, which seems to be all the time.
  • Huh, good to know. Still better than eating a bag of Skittles.
  • With the honey, this particular flavor was definitely sweet. I haven't tried any of the other flavors yet. At its price point, I can justify satisfying my curiosity to answer the question "hey what does goat milk gelato taste like?" I unfortunately can't make it a go-to frozen treat at $12/pint.
  • I really wonder/worry about this with a product like Ice Breakers. They have <5 calories per serving and a serving is 1 mint. The container has what, 25, 30 servings? So if I consume the whole thing (and I usually do), is that 25 calories, or is that 125 calories? That a relevant amount and not enough to just sweep under…
  • Jerry Seinfeld sums up my thoughts on cinnamon exactly here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNcrrwQwskw
  • I found this at a specialty cheese shop near me Sooooo gooood. I love goat cheese so I was eager to try it and was not disappointed. If you're not into chèvre, it's not for you, because it definitely retains goat characteristics. Very expensive but nutritionally reasonable. I think it was about $12 for a pint but only 120…
  • In the true spirit of the "scientific standpoint" I'm going to wait for the results to be observed and measured. I'm well aware of the flaws of bioelectrical impedance and, absent any technical advances for this product, will be evident in the resulting data. I just want to see the data.
  • I just heard of this elsewhere and searched the forums to see if it was discussed and found this thread. I was hoping to see if there was any sort of verification done, because it does sound too good to be true but it looks like no independent validation has been done yet. If it's accurate to 90%, for each individual…
  • Good luck my man. I didn't read all the responses but I found your OP very relatable, even if not to the same degree (I started at 340). Key words for me are Patience - not gonna sugar coat it, you've got a long road ahead. In the posts I did read above, it seems you've acknowledged that. The real test will be in a year, 2…
  • This is what I do (and it ain't necessarily fun) - eat the heck out of baby spinach and/or broccoli. I find either of them to be satiating and obviously low calorie, and what calories it does provide are mostly all good stuff (protein + fiber). So, when I chow down on a bag of Trader Joe's baby spinach ($1.99 per), I'm not…
