MusclePharm Combat Crunch bars
Has anyone tried these yet? The nutritional info looks similar to a Quest bar for calories and protein, with a little less fiber. I think it's a brand new, hot off the press product so I doubt too many folks have tried them. The user reviews I found raved on bb.com, but you never know if those are fixed or not.

EDollah has logged in for 1000 days in a row!
The subject heading was a message I saw when I logged in this morning. I used to view streaks like this with some level of skepticism, at least for people that didn’t seem to be making progress. I’d wonder what was the point of logging in if you weren’t doing so to stick to a plan. I’ve come around on this way of thinking…

Phase One Complete (110+ pounds lost in 8 months)
This one’s for the big fellas, you 300+ pound behemoths, you magnificent bas..., well you know. This is one man’s story of how he went from hopelessly thinking that losing weight was inconceivable to making it happen. In this post I’ll tell you how I lost over 110 pounds in 8 months. I’ll try to keep the exposition to a…

Calories from sauteeing with oils?
Just curious, is all of the oil absorbed into the food when you sautee and therefore all calories from the oil should be included? That is, if I put 1 tablespoon of olive oil into a pan and sautee whatever with that, will I end up consuming all 90 calories or does some percent evaporate? I always take the conservative…

Diet to lose FAT not muscle
Hi I joined here 15 days ago and started an exercise/nutrition plan on April 1 (about 5 weeks ago). I started off at 340 pounds, currently I'm a little under 325 at 6'0" tall. I'm a 47 years old male. I'd like to share my diet strategy in this forum to see if it seems reasonable for my goal to lose fat while minimizing…

Meat Mountain
I find Arby's a foul place to eat, but this new item "Meat Mountain" is going to get me to go in to at least try it once. Every meat they serve on one sandwich. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/business/wp/2014/08/25/the-10-meat-mountain-from-arbys-its-exactly-what-it-sounds-like

NYT article on link between Sat Fat and Heart Disease
http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/03/17/study-questions-fat-and-heart-disease-link/ For the tl:dr types, the conclusion is: there's not a link between saturated fats and heart disease. Note: I'm not posting this as "breaking news", I've seen this mentioned before on these forums. I'm merely posting as an item of interest…

Logging HIIT
I'm looking for some feedback on what people are doing for logging their HIIT sessions. Let's say for simplicity's sake that I sprint, all out, for 30 seconds then walk for 60 seconds for 10 intervals each. Let's also say that sprinting is at 10 mph and walking is 4 mph. Would I log 5 minutes (10 * 30 seconds) at 10 mph…

Any word when the iOS7 app will be fixed?
I don't subscribe to the "Inner Circle" but I'm curious if he's given an ETA for an iOS7 fix there. I actually miss using the app now when I work out. I'm just glad I've maintained a separate spreadsheet.

Passport photos after big weight loss
The US State Department's website is fairly vague for advising whether to update your passport with a new photo after losing weight. Specifically, it says to apply for a new passport if you have "Undergone a significant amount of weight loss or gain" My current passport is still valid for a few years and I'd rather not get…

Bryan Chung AMA today
Since I've started delving into fitness over the last 3+ months, I've done a lot of digging around for expert advice. This has been very frustrating since most "experts" are hacks just trying to sell you something. Dr. Chung on the other hand, is legit*. He's holding an Ask Me Anything session on reddit today. Just fyi...…

Projecting exercise calories burned in weight loss
I realize I have a flaw in the weight projection I've created. I don't account for the decrease in calories burned as weight decreases. I have a good idea of how many calories I burn now but I'm not sure what that burn will be when I'm 25 pounds lighter. Here's what I'm thinking: RMR(0) = RMR now RMR(x) = RMR at some…

Safe weight to start running
I'm coming to a point where my walks are going to stop challenging me. Unfortunately, I'm still at a very heavy weight (300 pounds) and at my age (47) I'm very concerned that going to the next level and running would have unfortunate consequences for my knees. I used to be able to do some running when I was 250 pounds…

Tracking weight lifting
I'm interested to hear if anyone uses a tool of any sort to document sets/reps/weight for their weight lifting. I used to use a little paper diary in ye olden days but if I can use a higher tech solution that makes logging easier, I'd love to use it. I've found different apps, like Gym Buddy, JEFIT and many more but I'm…

When losing 100+ lbs, how much muscle is lost?
The subject heading pretty much says it all. Actually I'll narrow the scope of the question a bit. How much muscle would I expect to lose going from 340 to 220 (120 pounds for math challenged) if I'm doing the things I'm supposed to do to lose mostly fat. That is, lifting weights for strength, consuming enough protein and…

Greetings and Salutations
Greetings all. I joined a few days ago but have been only lurking to get a feel for message board culture here; I’m still learning your lingo and acronyms. I've found the food logging on this site to be very helpful. Exercise logging not as much, that I can tell, but that's ok, it's the calories, sugar, etc. that's most…
