if you have a local pool, water aerobics can be amazing! i do water aerobics when i'm pregnant or injured and it's great, low-impact, and can be a real calorie burner if you put your full effort into it. (though i've seen some people that seem to think water aerobics is just piddle around in the water for fun ... that's…

that's awesome!!!! way go go! i fondly remember my first time buying clothes at a "regular store" and it was thrilling. now to get this baby weight off and get back to the regular store... (i'm stuck in some weird limbo where the plus stores don't carry some thing small enough, but regular stores are still too small... so…

7th grade, when i got to school i started hearing whispers in the hallways about how a plane was highjacked, but didn't think much more than-- "i hope it works out and everyone on the plane is safe." i just went to class. suddenly, i heard some other kids shouting and running room to room telling everyone to turn on the…

i know the carton says to shake before pouring. and "use within 7 days", but mine has lasted up to 2 weeks before. if it's not past the exp. date, hasn't been open for more that 10 days, has been in the fridge, and you just forgot to shake, and it smells fine... i'd taste it. and then if it tastes fine, use it! if not,…

i did call my parents... they eat terribly (like pizza and burgers from a fast food place every night terrible). i asked my mom and she said to replace sugar with splenda if i bake something... ...i'm pretty sure there's more to it than that... my dad's attitude is "more carbs just means more pills... no worries!" i bug…

most of the responses here have all seemed, to me at least, to just assume that we all want to be "skinny" or thinner. one of the first responders even noted that most of the reasons people want to lose weight is for "visual" reasons. and sadly, we want to be skinny because that is what advertisers and the diet industry…

wow, everyone. thanks so much for the encouragement and tips! i didn't expect anything after i wrote a novel of whiney-ness. thanks so much! I'm really going to have to find a safe path for walking. we kinda live in the middle of no where-- the roads are narrow and there are no sidewalks, so I have to go the the park where…

yikes! that was a LOT longer than i thought it would be.... pretty sure no one's going to read that and respond. dang.

looking great! keep it up. :-)

bump! i'm in the same boat. i have a 16 month old, have lost 45 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight with her, and have been thinking about trying for number 2 and was wondering what effect calorie restriction has on trying to conceive. my bmi is also hovering just above 30. should you up calories when trying to conceive to…

go see your dr. i noticed that on your profile it says you are diabetic, so this should really be discussed with your dr. it could be lots of things, but don't mess around with your health.

i had it done at brigham young university. they have a fitness office that offers the service to students (and spouses) and faculty at a very discounted rate year round. i graduated form there a little over a year ago, but took advantage of it since my husband is still a student. :-)

i didn't even know what my DL said, so I looked at it, and i'm 4 lbs less now!
-
probably the same way you logged the 30DS

as i understand it, it's because your muscle needs fuel to burn that fat weight-- but if you aren't eating enough to fuel the muscle (and burn the fat), the body will start losing muscle instead of fat. hence the "holding onto fat" and a slower metabolism. it's easier to maintain "fat" on the body with lower calories than…

it could just be body type. my mom was freakin' gorgeous and skinny as all hell when she was in high school, but then she told me that she's never worn smaller than a size 12. she's got the family "child-bearing hips" as we fondly refer to them in our family. if she lost anymore weight, she would have been a skeleton, but…

i just use gym shorts and a t-shirt...

Congrats! Welcome to Onederland! I just arrived a few days ago. :-)

lots of fiber and protein help you to feel full longer because it stays in the digestive system longer. also, i don't know what your sodium looks like, but try to keep it at your goal-- if your electrolytes are out of balance (too much or too little sodium) it can contribute to a feeling of tiredness.
-
you can log it in your food diary, adn it counts as negative calories.
-
i do. i exercised a ton yesterday, and had negative net calories. so I enjoyed a bowl of ice cream. it doesn't happen all the time, but on days when i've worked hard and have a huger deficet that day-- i treat myself to something sweet.

my little girl is 14 months old now, and i was in the same boat as you when i got pregnant with her-- told not to gain more than 15 lb. i ended up gained 21, but lose all of it by 2 weeks post-partum, then continued to lose and re-gain the same 10 lbs before i found this site. my hubby and i are thinking of starting trying…

the best thing i ever did/am still trying to do... is embrace them. the shape is largely genetic and you can't target fat loss, but you can make your shape smaller through weight loss-- but remember you're likely to still have the same shape. thanks to my mother, and her mother, and her mother's mother, etc, etc, I'm…

yes yes yes about 24 minutes for warm-up, work-out, and cool down.

I went to my alma mater, they have a fitness program in their exercise science department, and used their BodPod. It's supposed to be super accurate, with 1-2%. I tried online sites that have you input your measurements, but they were always off. maybe because i'm not sure where to measure my "waist" and "hips." (like is…

yep. i think cortisol (?) is the culprit... it's a hormone released when stressed.
-
i've wondered this also. i tried to calculate my BF% by using measurements and and online calculator tool. According to that, I would be in the same dilemma. But then I had a BodPod measure my BF%, and it was much higher than the measurements reflected (and the BodPod is more accurate). It's important to measure properly…

awesome!

all your exercises need healthy fueled muscle to keep working and to burn fat. if you're eating at only 1200 and burning 500, then your body is going to get used to the routine and start getting the energy it needs to function from your muscles instead of burning fat. you're body knows that it takes more energy (calories)…

there's a category for strength training in the cardio section-- enter it there to get the burned calories. the "strength training" journal is more for purposes of tracking how much weight you're lifting and your progress in strength, not to guage calories.
