Actually I started lifting in my socks at the gym as my weights got heavier. I lift in my vibram fivefingers now, so I definitely prefer barefoot. At the very least you need a flat shoe.

I've lost 60 lbs so far and I've gone down 2 straps sizes, but up one cup size. They're definitely smaller, but I'm glad they're staying proportionate to my body. (from 42 DD to 38DDD)

Hah, I think I would have laughed at that =D

I just wish I had started earlier. Using myfitnesspal on my phone was the thing that finally gave me the push to start!

The sweet onion sauce is good, it probably has the most flavor for fewest calories. Stay away from the veggie patties, they're actually pretty heavy on calories. If you like veggies, a veggie sandwich with cheese and honey mustard is delicious. I find that I can't really taste the turkey under all the veggies anyway. Or…

 I love my muscle, and I feel more satisfied every day I can go in and lift heavier. Now I'm not as worried about "losing weight" anymore, I just really want to lower my body fat % and see those muscles even clearer! Even though I weigh myself every day out of curiosity, I try to be detached from what it says. I…

Oh, and if anyone wants to friend me, that would be awesome. I don't have a lot of Pals on here. Just don't freak out if you look at my diary and see me way under calories some days, that's only because I don't usually log my dinner (but I do count it up in my head) I'm still fighting my "eat when bored" urges, but it's a…

Thank you! <3 It's really motivating for me when people can see how much work I've put into this My boyfriend lost his weight really fast once he started paying attention to what he ate. It really helps to have his support in cooking healthier meals at home. I'm trying to get away from eating as much prepackaged food, but…

Thank you guys! I still have so far to go, I kinda feel silly feeling so proud of myself at this point. =D

I should have added a picture of my boyfriend! He dropped from a size 36 at 195 lbs to a loose ish 32 at 155 lbs Should also add, since May 23 I have been eating 2000 on non workout days and 2300 on workout days with my loss set at 1/2 lb per week on mfp. I've been trying to eat at 40% carbs and 30% on fat and protein but…

My gym has fixed dumbbells in increments of 5. I was lifting a tiny bit for about half a year before starting nrolfw so I started stage 1 at a 15 lb shoulder press and about halfway through was able to use the 25 lb weights. I have trouble getting them onto my shoulders to start the press though, and there's no way I could…

Hello! I'm going to be doing stage 2 A1 tomorrow! I'm 5'6" 201 lbs. During stage 1 I had no real idea where to start so here are my stats: Squats start: 45-50 lbs, 2 sets of 15 Deadlifts start: 50 lbs, 2 sets of 15 Squats A8: 80-85 lbs 3 sets of 8 Deadlifts B8: 80-85 lbs 3 sets of 8 For some reason my weights have been…

Awesome job! I know just how hard it is to resist those urges. After nearly a year, I'm still working on it myself!

Thank you for linking this. My dad's always been a cyclist and I have a fondness for that sport above others. I loved the article

My dad lives in Stockton and I spent my summers in lodi, growing up. But I'm out in oklahoma now =o

Mixed answer for me. I had been lifting on and off for more than half a year before I started this, but I'm still obese. I'm definitely making faster improvement in strength with this program than I was doing random exercises on my own haha. But I had gone from wheazing to jogging an hour straight on a treadmill before…

Yeah. there was a month and a half where I completely stopped losing. I was going to the gym 5-6 times a week and just running for an hour or more. I got lazy with my logging and wasn't really eating as much as I should. I finally decided that I was tired of what I was doing and started the New Rules of Lifting for Women.…

I was on hormonal birth control from age 16 to age 22. When I was graduating college and unsure what my health insurance status would be for the next few years, I decided to get an IUD. I chose Paragard for a couple reasons. 1. I wanted children in the next 10 years and didn't want any extra hormones playing with my…

Love Italian sodas! Yeah, you just mix the syrup with carbonated water. They're even better with a bit of whip cream mixed in like they do at restaurants =)

How strange. I've had a copper iud for 3 years now. I've only been trying to lose weight for the last year and the only time I stopped losing was when I was doing too much cardio and not logging my food to make sure I ate enough. I'm glad taking it out worked for you though =)

I love your story <3 I definitely identify with what you've said. I hope that I can get there some day too!

Way to go! You're doing awesome!

bump so I can find this later

I work in a print shop, so I move boxes of paper fairly often. a case of 10 reams weighs about 50 pounds and I realized recently that I can lift one over my head now that I do my shoulder presses with 25lb dumbbells =D

Good job, and keep it up! I am having trouble adjusting still. I have a lot more to lose, but I've gone from a really tight 20w to a loose 16 (average!) and I still have so much farther to go. But I just can't believe it's me in the mirror.

Really inspirational, thank you so much for the post! I try to remind myself every day that I can get where I want to be and reading things like this help so much <3

Read this on my lunch at work and teared up, I've come so far fro wheazing after half a minute to jogging 7 miles a few weeks ago. it means a lot to me too <3

Another thing I noticed after getting off hormonal birth control and getting my copper iud, my libido definitely went up. I don't think I want anything else again.

I can't say much about Mirena ( I have a paragard iud, nonhormonal) But different mixes of hormones affect everyone's body differently. I was on hormonal birth control from 17 until I turned 22 and after I got the paragard and stopped having extra hormones put into my body I went 6 months without a period! I thought there…
