Saving this! :)

Thanks! I'd actually love something that I could do in the gym. I like th idea of continuing to lift heavy but am looking for the best combo of cardio and strength training to get rid of about 15 pounds or so.

This post is seriously my life dilemma for the past 6-8 months. Historically, I've always been a yo-yo dieter. I think it comes with the territory of the early 20's...I take responsibility, of course...but just stating my case here. :) I've done the super-low calorie thing, the South Beach (no carb/no sugar) thing, etc.…

This has been exactly my experience. I have IBS-C and it got increasingly worse over the past 2 years. Nothing I tried worked---fiber, probiotics, peppermint teas, more water, more exercise, etc. I also haven't been able to exactly pinpoint trigger foods although I do notice if I deviate too much from my usual healthy…

I figured out my TDEE and subtracted 25% from that calorie estimate. I do feel better and I like that. I never ate back exercise calories before and I still am not, since that's calculated into the calorie estimate. And I was only moderately cranky before ;)

Good question! I've had this same issue but I've settled on logging it in as moderate effort, as well. You're right, my HR is definitely in the "vigorous" category for 95% of the class but there are periods of 10-15 sec of rest. I have been wearing a HR monitor during the class as of late and when I figure out my overall…

Could you try some sugar free maple syrup? I like Maple Grove Farms kind. Would steel cut oats work? Or only the quick cook?

Okay guys, I upped my calorie goal. Here's hoping! Thanks for all the feedback!

A typical day: -A banana, english muffin OR oatmeal (not all 3) before a 6 AM workout -Oatmeal, eggs or an english muffin after the workout -Greek yogurt or a Luna Bar for a snack around 10:30 -Lunch is either a salad and soup, a turkey sandwich on wheat, or some kind of hummus and rice crackers with a half sandwich -Air…

So, if I've been maintaining at the weight I am now for a couple of months, is it likely that this is my TDEE and I should drop my calories? I also have a lot of digestion/stomach issues that coincide and I know on some level, they are related. But even so, I know there must be SOME formula out there that will work for me…

I've gone to several doctors and as of now, they seem to cast away the problems onto stress. Which, I agree could be part of it (how stressful is it to be told that all of your problems are due to stress--an ENDLESS cycle!) but I don't feel like I have any more stress in my life than a.) average people my age and b.) than…

I drink at minimum a gallon of water a day, usually a little more.

Thanks guys for responding! I try to keep track of what I'm eating that makes it better/worse but thus far I haven't noticed a pattern. I have the version of IBS where you don't go to the bathroom enough so on some level, I know my weight fluctuations are unavoidably part of that retention cycle. But I just never dip below…

I haven't used the FitBit myself but I'm in a master's program in psychology and one of my colleagues has been conducting a study using the FitBit and they've had really great results. They use it as part of a contingency-management exercise plan and increase the amount of exercise required for the goal each week and it…

Jill. You just made me a very happy girl haha...thanks everyone! Today I'm trying to make sure I eat around 1600 calories and eat more after I exercise. What do you think about that number?
-
Thanks guys, I appreciate your taking the time to respond! Typically no, I don't eat back my exercise calories unless I'm particularly hungry after but maybe I should? I try not to eat after 9 but I usually eat enough to feel full and satisfied before then. Though there is usually a big chunk in my day where I do feel kind…

How do you feel about yogurt and honey? Lots of Greek yogurt come with honey on the bottom now so the consistency is smooth but you get a bit of a different flavor in there. Or more "kid-friendly" brands like go-gurt, Trix, etc. are often completely blended though they may not be exactly what you're looking for based on…
