  • While my motivation to move was definitely lowered, the reduction in overall calories burned (according to my fitbit HR) was only about 100 calories less per day. I cannot explain the fact that I didn't lose anything! We don't have to call it starvation mode, but I am thouroughly convinced that my metabolism slowed down…
  • So, first, thank you al for your replies. To answer a few of you, I am absolutely positive I am properly logging my calories. I was measuring, weighing and logging every solitary thing that passed through my lips. I have an electronic scale and was not guessing at all. The only "guess work" would be total calories burned…
  • ^even more reason to need friends.
  • My favorite drink, I have almost every day. Recipe: Half avocado Frozen fruit blend (usually Walmart has them with pineapple, mango and strawberry) handful of spinach Half scoop Fruitein super green squirt of raw agave fill to top with Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk Other times I skip the frozen fruit blend, throw a whole…
  • I had the same question. Mostly what I've heard from people was that fruit and vegetable sugars are okay. The refined sugars is what you should limit. I eat fruit and/or veggies at every meal and would be WAAAY over my sugar goal (which btw was 26 grams too). I was getting so frustrated that I stopped counting sugar. I…
  • My guess....Plateau. I would try taking a week off. Just excercise moderately, eat enough calories to just maintain (say 1800) and relax. I get stressed out the same way. Give yourself a break for a week and then get back into diet/excercise mode after that break week. You should shock your body into losing weigh again, by…
  • If it sounds too good to be true, it is. (Diet soda is too yummy to be calorie free and not dangerous.) Aspartame is bad for you. I googled some information about it and was so stunned by what I found and the effects it can have on your long term health. GOOD CHOICE! :)
  • I've heard..."10 you'll notice, 20 some will notice and 30 everyone will notice".
  • I would like to see your food diary.
  • I had the same scenario and so i went to a dietician and she told me to lower my protein. Idk.....it seemed illogical to me, but I'm gonna try it to see if I get a change too. she said, if I if I get too much protein, it will turn into fat.
  • I am on week 4 of Insanity. I eat around 1500 calories on most days and follow the plan closely. I have noticed that I am not losing weight AT ALL!!! I am losing muscle mass, but the same amount of fat is on my body. I need help!!! You can veiw my menu here on MFP. Please give me some advice. I am stuck at 144.
  • Drinking a lot of tea and water helps me. Plus no one metioned this yet...eat consistantly. I eat every 3 hours (300 calories) which puts me at 1500 a day. I also work out pretty vigorously, which curbs apetite. Up your calories or you may get to famished and end up gorging. Try 1300-1350. Or 1200 most days, but days that…
  • I was 5'5" 147...now down to 140. That took me 2 months! There are so many reasons not to see the scale move. Take measurements, that way you don't get frustrated. Depending on your body type and such it may take longer to see a weight change. I've also heard this: after one month you start noticing results, after two all…
  • Fartlek training (walk/run intervals) help you establish good form and prevent injury, while allowing you to increase your cardiovascular endurance. I can tell you from experience, once you run your first mile straight through, you'll be addicted! Just stick to it and go slow. I bought myself a new IPod and downloaded a…
  • YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I love peanut butter too. Hands down my favorite food. Maybe you have been cuuting your fat intake too low and your body is craving the extra fat....idk, I've wondered this myself. Luckily, my addiction turned into a strong love after a few months.
  • It makes perfect sense. For two reasons: First it could all be mental, second it could be your body fighting to stay at your "happy weight". I've heard if you reach your goal and stay there for 6 months you can reset your body to being happy at your new weight. Hang in there.
  • I've often wondered this myself. My thinking is, if it's too good to be true than it probably is. Chemicals, whether they help you lose weight or not, can not be good for you liver or kidneys. I imagine if you drink it a lot your gonna do some damage and may hinder your bodily functions such as weight loss. Not to mention…
  • YES!!! Be careful though. You don't want to binge...your mind might not like the idea of food, but your body could soon take over. Our bodies are smarter than we are. Also, you should enjoy food! It's nice not to revolve your life around it, but don't hate it. It may be you're afraid of what it could do to you, Try to find…
  • It's so fun you don't even notice you're burning calories. Buy it for fun. You'll get fitness in return. Don't buy it for fitness alone. Classifying it as another "fitness machine" could make it sit in a corner collecting dust. If you understand what I mean.
  • There are protein shakes that consists of just vegetable proteins. They usually taste like crap, but don't have any animal bi-products in them like whey. If you get vanilla you could mix it with fruits and yogurt for a nice protein fix.
  • Yeah...you may need more electrolytes Drink Smart water, which contains them..that helped me.
  • I've told myself that thanksgiving is a time to be thankfull (not a time to gorge), so I'm thankfull that I've worked so hard. Don't ruin all your work, but don't feel guilty having 1 slice of pumpkin pie. MODERATION IS KEY. Take it easy on the food, enjoy your family and the day off...tomorrow it's back to hard work.
  • I just read about this!!! It doesn't matter 3500 calories=1 lb of fat...period. The fat burn level just takes longer.
  • I laugh because I feel like I totally could have done the same thing. I love peanut butter and jelly on saltines and could totally eat a whole sleeve! LOL Human nature to make mistake after mistake. If you let it get you down it may actiually be a detriment. But move on and it's just a slight bump as opposed to a turning…
  • HAHA! You should check out my binge! I ate bar food before I started drinking, I drank all night, ate at Denny's and then ate out at Cookout (it's a fast food chain in North Carolina) I vow to never drink that much again! I made the most horendous choices....and feel quit guilty.
  • I'm sorry...keep your head up! Those punk kids have nothing better to do than pick on people, and you should be proud of your accomplishments and how much you've grown. They will never have the determination or strenth to make a decision like you have and stick to it. God Bless! Keep on trucking!
  • Oh also....try playing with your 5 year old...running around with kids is a great workout! Plus you're bonding!
  • At the rate you are going you need to make time for YOU, in order to keep it up. Before the kids, before the husband, before this lifestyle, you were you. Now, I understand the importance of family and you do need to take care of them and be their rock...but if you don't take car of NO. 1 (aka you) there's no way you can…
  • Thank You! Great advice everyone. I think this may help my cravings for sweet things and I'll make sure I eat fruits and veggies that are low on the GI (like green veggies and berries, ect.) I think I'll eat those apples that have been sitting in the refidgerator after all! (And I'm really happy about it)
  • whole food vitamins dont have the same effect. you usually have to take 3 of them a day...they are more efficient because you can absorb more of the vitamins and minerals.
