I always need something sweet after dinner but it doesn't have to be huge. Two ginger candies from Trader Joe's for 40 calories does the trick.

Congratulations! And I would suggest extending that to at least the first few months after the baby is born, breastfeeding or not. You will be stressed and sleep deprived and don't need to add to the craziness by feeling guilty about your weight..

Maybe pre logging would work for you. Figure out what you'll eat the next day and log it. Then you'll satisfy the need to have a plan while still keeping it simple.

What do you want the Garmin to do? If you take your phone on your run anyway, why not just use a running app like Map My Run? It will calculate the distance, calories, pace, etc. It also syncs to My Fitness Pal. I run about 100 miles a month and my husband keeps trying to buy me a Garmin but the app does what I want it to,…

I can't remember the exact quote but something along the lines of, "If you got a flat tire, would you fix it or puncture the other 3 tires?"

I think you're smart to adjust meals around to see if it helps you stick to your calorie goals. In my experience, the hunger at night doesn't go away; you just get kind of used to it. I am OK unless I watch Top Chef.

Have you considered doing a challenge together as a team? Lose a combined 50 pounds or whatever and the reward is a weekend getaway. That way you're working together and encouraging each other rather than trying to beat each other.

I'd change it.

I love it--especially the Zig Zag diet option. I had never seen that before.
-
Good for you! My first few 5Ks I did not make it through without a little bit of walking. I've been running regularly for a couple of years and now never have to walk. It is amazing how you can improve; just focus on enjoying your progress!

Survey the table, rate the foods on a scale of 1-10, and only eat the 10s. Also try to drink a couple of glasses of water before you start eating--you will fill up faster.

Breakfast cereal. I can never stop at one bowl.
-
Drink 2 big glasses of water before you eat.

Is your daughter 17 like mine? If so, then disregard anything she says.

Nowadays there are a lot of healthy options at college dining halls. We toured several in the past year and all had lots of vegetarian/vegan options and always a really good salad bar. My son is a college athlete and is easily able to eat well at the dining hall--lots of grilled chicken, veggies, salads.

Yum.

I work from home. I work from 8 to 10 or so, then work out for about an hour. I eat my first meal at noon. In the afternoon when I start wanting to snack, that's when I generally try to get my errands done (shopping, bank, etc) to keep me out of the kitchen.

I can't reach my calorie goal!

Sounds like you've been doing a great job! Just remember how you felt after that giant chocolate bar; that'll help you get back on track.
-
Great idea!

Avocado toast with a poached egg.

Great job! Some people will comment but some will not. One friend told another friend that I look like I've lost weight but she never mentioned it to me. I can understand that; commenting on people's appearance is something I try not to do either. You just never know.

It's overwhelming. It helps me to think that every single step I take brings me a little closer to my goal. So if you take a 5 minute walk, if you pass up a cookie, that all adds up. Just break it down into tiny victories.

I know this sounds super cheesy, but there is a saying I've heard that have helped me maintain motivation. "There are things you're glad to do, and there are things you are glad to have done." Helps me when I don't feel like working out, and also when I want to stop myself from eating that extra whatever.
-
I want to lose one pound more than my goal, then eat 3500 calories worth of Cap'n Crunch, then start maintenance. Don't judge me!

I used to live in Hawaii and now am in Southern California--I see people of all shapes and sizes in swimsuits at the beach and nobody else could care less. Do not ruin your awesome Hawaiian vacation by not going to the beach!

I read somewhere that if a food is a 10 in your mind, eat it. I try to use that as a guideline rather than actually banning foods. Some just aren't worth it. Oatmeal cookies, no. Lemon bars, yes.

I try to remember how bad it feels, both physically and mentally.

I think all the planning that goes in to meals plays a big part. When I'm limiting calories I'm so focused on it and it's so hard that I am always thinking/deciding something regarding food.

It will work with your spotify play lists. Log in to spotify and choose the Playlist you want, then start playing it. Then go to zombies and start your mission. Zombies will override the music but then play it during the running sequence where the story pauses. It's imperative that you start spotify before zombies.
