I agree with Kristy. I've been a walker forever. 4MPH is hard to do for a long period of time, especially, if your carrying some extra weight. Most treadmills have an incline program. I do the hardest incline program my treadmill offers. Ranging from 0% to 6%. I do it at 3.5 MHP. It's a great workout. I try to do it for at…

Sorry, I've been out of touch for a while. My daughter got married last weekend, and it's been rather crazy! I use the term bolus, which is a insulin pump term. But, it really just means the amount of short acting insulin you would use to cover your meals. If you eat lunch at 12:00, and take short acting insulin to cover…

HI, I'm not familiar with levimir, I was on NPH and Novolog. Do you take any short acting insulin? I'm on the pump, so it's a matter of adjusting whatever basal is two hours before the low. My insulin needs dropped a lot since I've been on my journey. I was having a lot of lows. But, then, my sugars go crazy about a week…

bump for later, sounds awesome

I'm diabetic, so fruits add a lot of sugar to my daily allowance. I tend to do more veggies, so I get more bang for my buck. I've also changed my sugar macros to fiber. That's one that you WANT to go over on. If you're not diabetic, don't worry so much about the sugars from fuits. If you're staying away from simple sugars…

If you are 80 lbs overweight, it takes more calories to function during the day. Your BMR will go down as the weight does. If you take in too few calories, your body will fight back and hang on to what it has in store.
-
It is very confusing at first. If you figure out your BMR, that's the very least amount of calories you need to just stay alive. If you were in a coma, that's what doctors would use as a number so you didn't gain or lose. That being said......anything you do during the day, including the amount you exercise or just do on a…

First thing......you're definitely not eating enough. You should figure out your BMR, which is the absolute lowest amount of calories you should be taking in every day. Some will tell you to calculate your TDEE and do -20%, and that works for most.. I meet my BMR and see the difference between my TDEE and what I take in as…

Twice!!! Once, somebody tried to buy $8,000 worth of computers online. So, my credit card company put a hold on the card and called me. Another time, it was two small purchases that put u a red flag because they were far from where I live. So, again, a hold was put on the account. It really is a pain. I had to change all…

I can totally relate to this! It's not my wedding dress, but I am the mother of the bride. I bought my dress in February. It fit perfectly. I went in mid June to try it on ( it had just come in), it was way too big! They basically had to rebuild the top of my dress. Four inches were taken out of the back and straps had to…

Yesterday was my weigh in. Although my weight loss has slowed to a painful crawl, I've lost 4 inches in my hips, 2 1/2 inches in my waist. I've been doing it since April. I call that success. I've got 10 more to go to reach my goal.

I'm no expert, but I don't think you're eating nearly enough calories. Figure out your BMR. This is the least amount of calories you need to stay alive. From there, any exercise will give you a deficit. I was told by one of my MFP friends to do this and it makes sence. Also make sure you don't have more than a 1000 calorie…

I'm proud of you. Insulin does drive the sugar into the muscle which can make us gain weight. But, if we limit our carbs, therefore limiting our insulin intake, it helps. Before I got on the pump, I was taking 100 units a day, between my NPH and Novolog at meals. Now, I total under 40 a day. Every day is a struggle,…

You can do this. One step at a time. I just think about my kids. It keeps me going. I wanted them, they didn't ask to come into this mess. So, I won't put it on them. Now with my daughter also being diabetic, the guilt just about kills me. But, she's getting married in September and I'm gonna be there. When I was younger,…

That's easy. Oatmeal made with almond coconut milk. I could eat it all day! Tastes like an oatmeal cookie!

I'll give you my right arm before I give you my pump!!! As for the kinking sites. Have you contacted the company about this. It's really weird that it would be happening now and not before.
-
I agree! I know I've got a lot to learn. But, this was a great lesson!
-
I did. I'm OK with cutting back, but not that much!!! It was just an eye opener for me.

Hi Crystal I think the reason you haven't had any responses to your post is because we are at a loss for words. Maybe my story will help you get on track. I'll keep this as short as I can . I was diagnosed 39 years ago. So, at 9 years old, it's pretty hard being different from everyone else. My life seemed to be day after…

I'm exited about this. My birthday is in a couple of weeks. Looks like I should get myself a present!!! Thank you so much!

Thanks for the great information. I'm confused about how I'd enter exercise to be linked with MFP. I'm really not very technically savy, so it concerns me. Or when I register food on MFP? does that change anything on the fitbit? So, if it's linked to MFP, do you set your activity to sedentary, so the calories are…

What I don't understand is that I was losing 1 pound a week at first, wasn't measuring then either. But, I will take this sound advice and get a scale.
-
OH!! I'll use it. And be accused of being obsessed with that!!! But, that's OK! Thanks
-
I agree! The first tape is fun. The second one is really tough. I did that one this morning. Very intense cardio and leg workout. I like the butt dvd. It works different muscles and you know you've done something good!
-
I'm going to pick up a scale Friday when I'm shopping! thanks
-
WOW!!! What an eye opener!
-
I don't use a scale. I tend to eyeball things. I will pay much closer attention my logging. Thanks all for the terrific advice. I really do feel new hope. I tend to not log well on weekends when I'm the busiest. So, I think I will pay much closer attention and weigh and measure more. Also, not that my husband is sabotaging…

Alternative do not rely on the figure for eating your calories back from exercise. What do you mean by that? Don't eat back my exercise calories?
-
I'm hopeful again!!! Thanks for the great information!
