  • I prefer fresh because it has less moisture, but I just sauté mine and then use it as I would rice. I've found the frozen at Sprout's.
  • I do silks, trapeze, lyra, and inconsistently, pole, on top of weight lifting. I'm 40, and don't find it too much, but I have to listen to my body. My elbows are the best indicators of whether I need to rest. I also focus on lower body for weights, but when I'm good with my routine, I add a small upper body/abs weight…
  • I completely failed this weekend. Knew Saturday was out since it was my husband's bday celebration, but that somehow rolled Friday and Sunday into the festivities. I didn't overdo it, no hangovers, so that's a bonus, but I definitely didn't abstain. Honestly, if I avoid alcohol next weekend and then until Thanksgiving I'll…
  • I'll be back on it after the election and post election drinking woes. My morning workouts have definitely suffered. I'm looking forward to waking up clear headed tomorrow.
  • I'm from Kansas City. I may be off track right now, but I'm not planning on throwing out the baby just yet, so to speak.
  • I decided last night needed to be a wine night. Tonight might too. With KayV85. My head isn't in the right place. Not too many November might just be my mantra too.
  • Got through last night too! Even after picking up wine for hubs' bday celebration this weekend where I picked up one of my favorite Pinot Noirs and just put it on the wine rack. Instead of No Alcohol November, hubs has decided it's, "Not too many November", lol. But it wasn't a big deal.
  • It's pretty easy to hit as long as you make a small amount of protein your focus of each meal. You may need to supplement with protein powder or bars.
  • It's only one part of the acronym: Harm reduction, Abstinence, Moderation Support. For many, reducing the harmful behaviors sometimes associated with alcohol is what they need most. Instead of being all or nothing, the idea is to take whatever steps possible to make a positive impact on one's drinking. It's like cookies…
  • He was feeling pretty crappy on Sunday, hence the desire to join. He may change his mind in a few days when he's feeling less hungover. ;) Really, it's the staying up until 3 a.m. that probably did him in more than the beer. But then, the beer is the fuel for the 3 a.m. LP binge. If he'd gone to bed when I did, he probably…
  • It went pretty well. Met hubs and some friends up at a new tap room for one of our local breweries. Was just going to have a pony pour and water, but hubs ordered a full beer. I did drink it, but that's it. So one beer all weekend. Not at all worried about it. We even went to the friends' house afterward for dinner where…
  • Do everything but your birthday. No harm in modifying the challenge.
  • I hear ya! If I was good and just had a glass or two a night, I wouldn't worry about it. But I definitely overindulge on the weekends and often at least one evening a week (love me a happy hour). Drinking wine or simple mixed drinks (vodka/soda) has never really affected my weight, though I can't say the same about beer or…
  • It kinda has the same effect on me. The more I think about not drinking, the more I want that glass of wine. Well, not now. It's 8 a.m. Feeling good today. Haven't spent a weekend without a few drinks in several years, and last time around I went to a few parties and ended up thinking this no drinking was for the birds,…
  • I was definitely craving some wine yesterday. And today, tbh. I usually work out in the morning or during lunch, and wine just goes so well with other evening activities. Today is hubs' birthday, so it could be a challenge if he wants to go out. A virgin moscow mule is usually a good sub though. It would be awesome if…
  • I'm in. I attempted the same challenge last year, got about a week in and decided it wasn't worth it. I don't have a problem making an exception for Thanksgiving or possibly even my husband's birthday celebration on Sunday. I really do enjoy the ritual of drinks in the evening, so we'll see how it goes!
  • I don't ever "complete entry". What you eat is what you eat, regardless of whether you press that button or not.
  • I agree. Your TDEE should already include your Fitbit calories.
  • I'm still avoiding bread since it's like crack to me. Actually, I never really claimed to eat Paleo, but trying to conform to some of the rules did help me get my diet on track. It really helped me learn to eat differently and subsequently lose the last stubborn 8 lbs I'd been hanging onto for a while. I am now leaner and…
  • I'm not sure why people (especially women) seem so proud to eat so little. It's like this badge of honor or something. There's no prize for going too fast except higher probability of muscle loss. Doing too much too fast almost always results in failure. I see it all the time. Someone decides it's time to lose weight and…
  • Yes. I just take regular breaks.
  • A couple of them taste a little different to me, namely the cookies and cream. I just had a peanut butter chocolate one and it tastes about the same. Same with the cookie dough and chocolate chunk.
  • I kinda feel that way too. But I love having a warm "treat" once a day. One a day isn't so bad, two is getting a little silly. I've decided I should only keep them at work that way I'm not tempted to over-indulge.
  • For those wanting to do pull-ups, negative and holds can help immensely. I do aerial arts and just from practice where every transition is a hold, I was able to suddenly do pull-ups. And by suddenly I mean I tried after I'd been doing silks for a couple years. But that was really the only training I every did. Dips are the…
  • I like steel cut oats and usually make it with cinnamon and Stevia and add blueberries or dark sweet cherries or sometimes peaches. Using quick cook steel cut and frozen fruit makes it a super easy pre-workout breakfast.

  • I wouldn't mind losing my taste for alcohol. Sometimes I think I like it too much, lol! No plans to give it up, though. I would just replace it with sweets and I have definitely found sweets make me gain weight where as long as I stay away from the beer and the craft cocktails, alcohol does not. Plus I like social…
  • Oh, that sounds lovely! The only reason I'm trying to cut back on diet sodas is calcium absorption and what the acidity might be doing to my teeth. Too much Sucralose (Splenda) does seem to give me a sore throat and possibly some digestive issues. But I was consuming a huge amount of it with those little Mio water flavor…
  • I ate nearly 3000 calories on Saturday. I weigh 130 lbs. So #3, no biggee. It's when you consistently eat more than you burn that it's a problem. Some days I'm good and some days I'm bad. It's all about balance.
  • I just tried to order new armbands and got shot down, lol. It's too bad. I don't use my bodymedia all the time, but I like to use it to verify my numbers are still the same. I haven't tried all the trackers, but I have used a Fitbit and Garmin Vivofit. The bodymedia by far is the best one.
  • I actually love most of them. They do have that "fake" protein taste, but it doesn't bother me. I love the high protein, low calorie aspect, and for me, they're really like dessert. Will definitely have to try microwaving or baking them. That sounds amazing! The other lower calorie protein bar I don't mind is the Pure…
