When I backpack I easily exercise for over four hours. Hiking with a 30lb backpacking might not be the same as an aerobics class, but it isn't easy. Shoot on Tuesday I exercised for 2.5 hours. Thirty minutes weights, thirty minutes mountain biking, 1.5 hour hike. Four might be a little much, but on an active Saturday, it…

My opinion... Simple carbs, like breads and pastas, tend to have a lot of calories but not a lot of potential to fill you up, so they're really easy to overeat. Especially for me. By cutting them out, people tend to replace them with veggies, meat, and fruit, which is harder to overeat (fruit maybe not so much). That's…

I can definitely relate. I'm moving forward with my bulk on Nov. 1st, but I really, really, want to cut down to 125-127 first. (I'm 5'5"). But man am I struggling with that. My bulk will still be small. Five months, max 10 lbs. But It's what I'm comfortable with right now. 1600 sounds awfully low, btw. It's my cut amount.…

Unfortunately it just takes time. Stay busy, find something new and fun to try and focus on. Eventually it'll get better. Take care!

I'll be doing a timid bulk starting Nov. 1st as well. Unfortunately, my current method of eating is a deficit M-Th with Friday and Saturday (and sometimes Sunday) off. Those Friday/Sat meals easily clock in at 2500-3000 calories. I'm sure I need a consistent surplus to gain in a good way, but I'll have to totally revamp my…

Btw, why is everyone so scared of fat? I get if it's covered, but a little fat is not only good for you, it's essential to your diet. Unless you have a gallbladder problem of something...

I can't say I've ever had that problem. I usually get mine from aldi. I can barely stand chicken breast, but I eat a ton of thighs. They taste soooo much better.

I have hip flexor issues and I think that often gets overlooked. Anyone who sits for an extended period of time probably has tight hip flexor and weak glutes. What is helping me is active release, standing at work, concentrating on strengthening the posterior chain, and of course stretching. I also avoid straddle ups in…

Between 15 and 18, but closer to the 15%. I was measured by bodpod at 18.9%. 17% is my goal before I start my bulk.

I'm a fan of craft, beers, especially true-to-style beers. But I love porter and stouts, and since they lend themselves to coffee and chocolate notes anyway, I don't think the coffee/chocolate/vanilla stouts & porters are that far out there. I did have a green-chili beer when we were in Columbia at Flat Branch Brewery last…

I'd just add a few hundred calories/day, continue to lift heavy and track. I've heard the first month is a huge jump from water, and then it should taper off. I'm aiming for 5-10 lbs over the course of 5 months. Check out the women who bulk forum and bodybuilding.com. Huge wealth of information!

I recomped for about a year, with decent results. And then I felt like I completely stalled out, so this winter I will bulk. I really started thinking about a bulk when I wasn't progressing on my lifts. Plus I realized if I truly want to build muscle in areas where it's lacking (um, glutes), then I need to bulk. You are…

Sizes are really irrelevant. They keep changing and there isn't a standard. I wear anything from a 2 to a 6 is misses and 5 to a 9 in Juniors. Sometimes I'm an XS and sometimes I'm a M. You are better off focusing on body composition than anything else. Let the sizes fall where they may.

The 2800 includes your BMR. So 2800 is the total calories you burn throughout the day.

I love mine! I cut out pasta over a year ago and zucchini noodles make a great substitution. Taste phenomenal too. I saute mine in olive oil. I've used yellow squash, but didn't have much success with sweet potatoes, which is too bad because I think sweet potato "noodles" would be amazeballs. Cucumber noodles sound great…

Yes. All the time. I actually weigh daily because it makes the fluctuations easy to track. I'm always heaviest on a Monday because of weekend fun.

I'm in! I'm officially starting a bulk on Nov. 1st, so I'd like to be super lean before I start. Which means a 3-5 lb loss. Have a spreadsheet and a plan, so I'm good to go! As more motivation, my girlfriend and I are going to New Orleans for Halloween, and we're planning on dressing as Akasha from Queen of the Damned.

Also recommend Strong Lifts. As I've gotten more experienced, I've added other exercises to address weak points. *cough*glutes*cough*. But Strong Lifts, or Starting Strength, etc. are great places to start.

I figure we've all lost a little muscle mass along the way, so a bulk just helps replenish that loss. Considering how hard it is to gain appreciable size, bulk in the winter seems like a good insurance plan, regardless of physical goals.

I'm always cold. I've dropped to a pretty low body fat (for a woman) and am now constantly freezing. It's a little annoying.

I couldn't handle living somewhere with brutal winters. I can barely stand ours, and winter tends to be 20-30 degrees F during the day. We get some snow and ice. Winter tends to make me depressed, so this year, I'm going to make a point of trying to exercise outside, even when it's cold. Tends to help my mood.

I'll have to remember to save my bacon grease. I haven't cooked much with lard unless I'm cooking something after I've made bacon, but I definitely would. I'd rather use the natural stuff than the unnatural stuff. Usually tastes better. I'm definitely a fan of butter.

I pretty much drink my body weight in artificial sweeteners every day. Somehow I manage to maintain 19% body fat (as a 38 year-old woman). Many, many years ago I was a Dr. Pepper addict. When I switched to Diet Dr. Pepper, I dropped 12 lbs without changing much else. Huh... My guess is people who drink diet sodas and gain…

I drink lots of coffee with cream and whatever else I decide to put into it. This morning's coffee concoctions ran over 100 calories. I'm pretty lean...
-
I've maintained my current weight and fairly low body fat drinking on a regular basis. Only a drink here and there during the week, but Friday and Sat are a totally different story. So it hasn't affected me from being a healthy lean weight, but if I want to get a little leaner (which I think I do), I'll need to cut back on…

Most meat I weigh raw and don't worry about any extra calories I might now be eating because they dripped off (ie the fat). Bacon is the exception. It's just so fatty that raw vs cooked and drained are vastly different. Lean cuts of meat not so much.

I just got done eating a pink lady apple! Love the crisp/tartness of them!

Getting cold easily Hard to find the smaller misses sizes in discount stores like Marshalls Calves on tall boots are way too big People commenting about my size, and what I eat... ETA: Meal bloat! Yes! It's ridiculous. Also any water weight gain makes me look pregnant too.

I see plenty of women who could actually lose a few pounds only eat a few bites and then say they're stuffed. In that instance, I'm sure it's because they're self-conscious about eating, which is ridiculous. I'm also sure they're eating later, when no one is looking. Restaurant food is notoriously high in calories, so I…

Wow! What a transformation! Congratulations!
